Lower back pain is one of the most common medical problems in the world and it is experienced by a huge percentage of people *** to its ability to produce a detailed view of the soft tissues,including the spinal cord,nerves,intervertebral discs,and vertebrae,Magnetic Resonance Imaging is thought to be the most effective method for imaging the *** semantic segmentation of vertebrae plays a major role in the diagnostic process of lumbar *** is difficult to semantically partition the vertebrae in Magnetic Resonance Images from the surrounding variety of tissues,including muscles,ligaments,and intervertebral discs.U-Net is a powerful deep-learning architecture to handle the challenges of medical image analysis tasks and achieves high segmentation *** work proposes a modified U-Net architecture namely MU-Net,consisting of the Meijering convolutional layer that incorporates the Meijering filter to perform the semantic segmentation of lumbar vertebrae L1 to L5 and sacral vertebra ***-colour mask images were generated and used as ground truth for training the *** work has been carried out on 1312 images expanded from t1-weighted mid-sagittal MRI images of 515 patients in the Lumbar spine MRI Dataset publicly available from Mendeley *** proposed MU-Net model for the semantic segmentation of the lumbar vertebrae gives better performance with 98.79%of pixel accuracy(PA),98.66%of dice similarity coefficient(DsC),97.36%of Jaccard coefficient,and 92.55%mean Intersection over Union(mean IoU)metrics using the mentioned dataset.

this paper examines the transport analysis, including both heat transfer and mass transfer, in hybrid nanofluid flow containing gyrotactic microorganisms towards a curved oscillatory surface. the influence of magnetic fields is also inspected in terms of their physical characteristics. to depict the phenomena of transport, modified versions of both Fick's and Fourier's laws are used. Additionally, the characteristics of both heterogeneous and homogeneous chemical reactions are also incorporated. Utilizing a curvilinear coordinate system, the flow problem is formulated as partial differential equations(PDEs)for momentum, concentration, microorganism field, and energy. An analytical solution to the obtained flow equations is achieved utilizing the homotopy analysis method(HAM).the effects of significant flow parameters on the pressure and microorganism fields, velocity, oscillation velocity, concentration, and temperature distributions are shown via graphs. Furthermore, the variations in skin friction, mass transfer rate, heat transfer rate, and local motile number due to different involved parameters are presented in tables and are analyzed in detail. Graphical results indicate that the curves of velocity and temperature fields are enhanced as the values of the solid volume fraction variables *** is also verified that the concentration rate field decreases as the values of the homogeneous reaction strength parameter and the radius of curvature parameter increase, and it increases with the schmidt number and the heterogeneous reaction strength *** outcomes show a favorable response of the motile number to advanced values of the Peclet number, the schmidt number, the microorganism difference parameter, and the bio-convective Lewis number.

this work was conducted to determine the practicability of using a new adsorbent 4-ethyl thiosemicarbazide intercalated, organophilic calcined hydrotalcite （EtsC-OHtC） for the removal of uranium （U（Ⅵ））, and thorium （th（Ⅳ）） from water and wastewater. the FtIR analysis helped in realizing the involvement of nitrogen and sulphur atoms of EtsC in binding the metal ions through complex formation. Parameters like adsorbent dosage, solution pH, initial metal ions concentration, contact time and ionic strength, that influence adsorption phenomenon, were studied. the optimum pH for maximum adsorption of U（VI） and th（IV） was found to be in the range 4.0-6.0. the contact time required for reaching equilibrium was 4 hr. the pseudo second-order kinetic model was the best fit to represent the kinetic data. Analysis of the equilibrium adsorption data using Langmuir, Freundlich and sips models showed that the Freundlich model was well suited to describe the metal ions adsorption. the KF values were 25.43 and 29.11 mg/g for U（Ⅵ） and th（Ⅳ）, respectively, at 30℃. the adsorbent can be regenerated effectively from U（Ⅵ） and th（Ⅳ） loaded ones using 0.01 mol/L HC1. the new adsorbent was quite stable for many cycles, without much reduction in its adsorption capacity towards the metals.

Design of a robust production facility layout with minimum handling cost （MHC） presents an appropriate approach to tackle facility layout problems in a dynamic volatile environment, in which product demands randomly change in each planning period. the objective of the design is to find the robust facility layout with minimum total material handling cost over the entire multiperiod planning horizon. this paper proposes a new mathematical model for designing robust machine layout in the stochastic dynamic environment of manufacturing systems using quadratic assignment problem （QAP） formulation. In this investigation, product demands are assumed to be normally distributed random variables with known expected value, variance, and covariance that randomly change from period to period. the proposed model was verified and validated using randomly generated numerical data and benchmark examples. the effect of dependent product demands and varying interest rate on the total cost function of the proposed model has also been investigated. sensitivity analysis on the proposed model has been performed. Dynamic programming and simulated annealing optimization algorithms were used in solving the modeled example problems.

Let V be a hypersurface with an isolated singularity at the origin in Cn+1. It is a natural question to ask when V is defined by weighted homogeneous polynomial or homogeneous polynomial up to biholomorphic change of coordinates. In 1971, a beautiful theorem of saito gives a necessary and sufficient condition for V to be defined by a weighted homogeneous polynomial. For a two-dimensional isolated hypersurface singularity V, Xu and Yau found a coordinate free characterization for V to be defined by a homogeneous polynomial. Recently Lin and Yau gave necessary and sufficient conditions for a 3-dimensional isolated hypersurface singularity with geometric genus bigger than zero to be defined by a homogeneous polynomial. the purpose of this paper is to prove that Lin-Yau's theorem remains true for singularities with geometric genus equal to zero.

In this paper, delay-dependent robust stabilization and H∞ control for uncertain stochastic takagi-sugeno （t-s） fuzzy systems with discrete interval and distributed time-varying delays are discussed. the purpose of the robust stochastic stabilization problem is to design a memoryless state feedback controller such that the closed-loop system is mean-square asymptotically stable for all admissible uncertainties. In the robust H∞ control problem, in addition to the mean-square asymptotic stability requirement, a prescribed H∞ performance is required to be achieved. sufficient conditions for the solvability of these problems are proposed in terms of a set of linear matrix inequalities （LMIs） and solving these LMIs, a desired controller can be obtained. Finally, two numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness and less conservativeness of our results over the existing ones.

Activated carbon （AC） derived from waste coconut buttons （CB） was investigated as a suitable adsorbent for the removal of heavy metal ions such as Pb（II）, Hg（II） and Cu（II） from industrial effluents through batch adsorption process. the AC was characterized by elemental analysis, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diflraction, scanning electron microscopy, thermal gravimetric and diflerential thermal analysis, surface area analyzer and potentiometric titrations. the eflects of initial metal concentration, contact time, pH and adsorbent dose on the adsorption of metal ions were studied. the adsorbent revealed a good adsorption potential for Pb（II） and Cu（II） at pH 6.0 and for Hg（II） at pH 7.0. the experimental kinetic data were a better fit with pseudo second-order equation rather than pseudo first-order equation. the Freundlich isotherm model was found to be more suitable to represent the experimental equilibrium isotherm results for the three metals than the Langmuir model. the adsorption capacities of the AC decreased in the order： Pb（II） Hg（II） Cu（II）.
