In the Shiquanhe area of far-western tibet,mid-Cretaceous strata lie unconformable on ophiolitic melange and Jurassic flysch associated with the Bangong-Nujiang suture *** the basis of our mapping and geochronologic studies,we suggest that these Cretaceous strata were shortened by>57%over a north south distance of 50 km during Late Cretaceousearly tertiary *** Late Cretaceous Narangjiapo thrust placed Permian strata>20 km over ophiolitic melange and Cretaceous *** of the Narangjiapo thrust,>40 km of shortening was accommodated by the Late Cretaceous-early tertiary south directed Jaggang thrust system that involves Jurassic flysch and Cretaceous strata,and roots into a decollement within ophiolitic *** most recent shortening was accommodated to the south of the Narangjiapo thrust,along the north dipping Shiquanhe *** Shiquanhe thrust cuts flat-lying 22.6±0.3 Ma volcanic rocks and underlying folded,tertiary nonmarine strata in its footwall and was likely active during slip along the Oligocene Gangdese thrust system of southern tibet Ophiolitic melange and structurally overlying Jurassic flysch near Shiquanhe are interpreted to represent remnants of a subduction-accretion complex and forearc basin,respectively,that were obducted southward onto the margin of the Lhasa terrane during Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous closure of the Bangong-Nujiang *** imbrication of the obducted sheet could have produced the two east-west trending belts of ophiolitic melanges,separated by～100 km,in western *** Cretaceous-early tertiary thin-skinned shortening may have been accommodated in the deeper crust by northward underthrusting and duplexing of Lhasa terrane rocks beneath the obducted ophiolitic melange and the Qiangtang terrane to the *** tERMS:8015 structural Geology:Local crustal structure;8102 tectonophysics: Continental contractional orogenic belts;9320 Information Related to Geographic Region:Asia;1035 Geochemistry:Geoc

A>500-km-long east-west trending metamorphic belt in the Qiangtang terrane of central tibet consists of tectonic melange that occurs in the footwalls of Late triassic-Early Jurassic domal low-angle normal *** melange is comprised of a strongly deformed matrix of metasedimentary and mafic schists that encloses lesser-deformed blocks of metabasites,Carboniferous-triassic metasedimentary rocks,and early Paleozoic *** the blocks and melange matrix exhibit greenschist,epidote-blueschist, and locally,epidote-amphibolite facies mineral *** reveals that the metamorphic belt experienced pressures of>10 *** equilibration temperatures for mafic schists in the melange matrix decrease from east to west,from～660℃near Shuang Hu(33°N,89°E),～500℃near Rongma(33°N,87°E),to～425℃near Gangma Co(34°N,84°E).Equilibration at consistently high pressures over a large range of temperatures is compatible with metamorphism of Qiangtang melange within a low-angle subduction zone beneath a continental *** structural, thermobarometric,and Ar/39)Ar studies suggest that Qiangtang melange was exhumed in an intracontinental setting from depths of>35 km to upper crustal levels inte triassic-Early Jurassic crustal-scale normal *** zircons from metasandstones within the melange matrix yield U-Pb ion-microprobe ages that range from early Paleozoic to Early Archean,and could have been sourced from terranes to the north of the Jinsha *** results support a model in which Qiangtang melange was underthrust～200 km beneath the Qiangtang terrane during early Mesozoic flat-slab southward subduction of Paleo-tethyan oceanic lithosphere along the Jinsha *** model predicts that significant portions of the central tibetan continental mantle lithosphere were removed during early Mesozoic low-angle oceanic subduction and that the present-day central tibetan deeper crust includes large volumes of underthrust early Mesozoic

沿着青藏高原北缘的阿尔金山脉东段 ,发育了长度大于 30 0km、EW走向的拉配泉断裂。中美合作阿尔金课题组的地质填图结果表明 ,该断层实际上是一条南倾的正断层 ,局部倾角可以低至 30°以下。沉积学和热年代学研究控制了拉配泉断裂的活动时代 :早—中侏罗统地层可以解释为断裂上盘的伸展盆地沉积 ;下盘岩石中钾长石40 Ar/ 3 9Ar测年和MDD模拟给出 2个阶段的冷却事件 ,早期事件出现在约 2 2 0～ 187Ma之间 ,晚期事件出现在早白垩世晚期 (约 10 0Ma)。早期事件代表了拉配泉断裂正断作用的主要阶段。

通过地质年龄数据的综合分析,本文探讨了阿尔金山地区自元古宙以来的区域热演化历史。其中,本区自古太古代以来具有多期岩浆活动,其主要活动时期为早古生代晚期(490～385 Ma),高峰期年龄为442Ma左右。同时,具有新元古代、早古生代、中生代和新生代4次地壳抬升和冷却事件。其中中生代冷却事件启动时间与阿尔金北缘伸展作用早期活动时间相一致;新生代事件出现在7 Ma左右,与青藏高原隆升具有密切关系。

Background: Scientific procedures for addressing noseband fit and tightness, eliminating the risk of excessive and painful tightening, as well as quantitative measurements of pressures under the noseband while riding are either scarce or lacking. Purpose/Aim: to assess simple means of measuring pressure under different nosebands with a view to their adoption as scientific methodology. Method: Horses (n = 7) were fitted with five different bridles (A-E). Pressure distribution and intensity were measured using colour sensitive film (Fujifilm LLLW), assessing the level of pressure and distribution across the surface of the nosebands, as assessed and ranked by independent assessors. A CURO system was also used to measure pressure in real-time under nosebands whilst riding. Results: the colour-sensitive film for D & B were ranked 1st and 2nd, respectively. Regularity of pressure overall showed a statistical difference between nosebands (A & B significantly more unregular than the others). Pressure measurements revealed significantly different means (all P Conclusions: Pressures under nosebands can reach levels that appear capable of inflicting tissue damage, hence bridles and nosebands should be assessed using scientific methodology and not based on arbitrary and subjective criteria, as is currently the case.
