thermally grown surface oxide layers dominate the single-asperity tribological behavior of a Zr60Cu30Al10 *** in oxidation time leads to an increased contribution of shearing and a corresponding decreased contribution of ploughing to *** change in the dominating friction and wear mechanism results in an overall minor decrease of the friction coefficient of oxidized surfaces compared to the metallic glass sample with native surface *** results demonstrate the importance of creating a stable oxide layer for practical applications of metallic glasses in micro-devices involving sliding contact.

Step-pool systems and cobble clusters are structures composed of boulders and cobbles on mountain streambeds rearranged by flood flow to reach high resistance and high bed *** bed structures and bed load motion can protect the riverbed from *** each step-pool,the flow energy is transformed into turbulence,and finally into *** load motion also consumes flow energy and plays a role to protect the bed from *** collision of bed load particles with the bed results in a force,known as dispersive force,which balances the lift force and controls the erosion of bed *** investigations and field experiments were conducted in the Xiaojiang River basin on the Yunnan-Guizhou plateau of China,where there were incised streams and stable streams with bed load motion or with step-pool *** study reveals that for a given stream power, strong bed structures are associated with low or zero bed load transportation;and weak or no bed structures are associated with intensive bed load *** showed that for incised streams, the final bed profiles were the same if there was bed load motion or there were bed *** key stones that made up the bed structures,for instance the large boulders in steps,were removed,the flow immediately scoured the sediment *** bed load transportation sharply increased by 100 times and the median diameter of bed load increased by 2-20 *** structures and bed load motion are mutually replaceable for their effects on flow energy consumption and streambed incision *** is the principle of equivalency of bed load motion and bed *** is due to the principle that there was no bed load motion in the Yalutsangpo Grand Canyon,where a very strong step-pool system had developed,although the bed gradient and shear stress of flow were extremely high.A possible application of this principle for incision control of the downstream reaches of the three Gorges Dam is also discussed in t

In this work, predictions of the spectral energy distribution from populations of single and binary stars are incorporated into a galactic chemical and color evolution model to explore the significance of the effects of the binary interactions on the color evolution of M33. We first constructed a model without binary interactions, and the model is able to reproduce most of the available observational constraints on the distribution of stellar parameters. We then run simulations with the same set of model parameters but with binary interactions considered. By comparing the results for the populations with and without binary interactions, we find that the inclusion of binary interactions makes the surface brightness greater (~0.1 mag arcsec 2) in FUV-band but smaller (~0.7 mag arcsec 2) in K-band, while it results in the FUV K color bluer (~0.8 mag). to reproduce the observations, a model that considers the binary interactions should make more gas fall onto the disk in the early time of the galaxy evolution, or increase the total stellar mass, or both.

this paper deals with the problem of guaranteed cost control for nonlinear systems with time-varying delays which is represented by takagi-Sugeno （t-S） fuzzy models with time-varying *** derivatives of time-varying delay are not necessary to be *** on the free weighting matrix method,sufficient conditions for the existence of fuzzy guaranteed cost controller via state feedback are given in terms of linear matrix inequalities （LMIs）.A minimizing method is also proposed to search the suboptimal upper bound of the guaranteed cost *** results are delay-dependent but contain delay-independent criteria as a special case.A numerical example is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness and less conservativeness of our work.

Lithium metal batteries assembled with solid-state electrolyte can offer high safety and volumetric energy density compared to liquid *** polymer solid-state electrolytes of poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO)are widely used in lithium metal solid-state batteries due to their unique ***,there are still some defects such as low ionic conductivity at room temperature and weak inhibition of lithium dendrite ***,the spiny inorganic nanofibers heterostructure with mullite whiskers grown on the surface of aluminum fluoride(AlF_(3))nanofibers are introduced into the PEOLi tFSI electrolytes for the first time to prepare composite solid-state *** AlF_(3)as a strong Lewis acid can adsorb anions and promote the dissociation of Li ***,the specially threedimensional(3D)structure enlarges the effective contacting interface with the PEO polymer,which allows the lithium ions to be transported not only along the large aspect ratio of AlF3nanofibers,but also along the mullite phase in the transmembrane direction ***,the transport channel of lithium ions at the spiny inorganic nanofibers-polymer interface is further *** from these advantages,the obtained composite solid-state electrolyte has a high ionic conductivity of 1.58×10^(-4)S cm^(-1)at 30℃and the lithium ions transfer number of *** addition,the AlF3has strong binding energy with anions,low electronic conductivity and wide electrochemical stability window,and reduced nucleation overpotential of lithium during cycling,which is positive for lithium dendrite suppression in solid-state ***,the assembled symmetric Li/Li symmetric batteries exhibit stable cycling performance at different area capacities of 0.15,0.2,0.3 and 0.4 m A h cm^(-2).More importantly,the LiFePO_(4)(LFP)/Li battery still has 113.5 m A h g-1remaining after 400 cycles at 50℃and the Coulomb efficiency is nearly 100%during the long ***,the interconnected struct

Maintaining water quality is of great importance for consumer’s health. How to evaluate and predict the aging water quality is an open issue. In this paper, a framework based on fuzzy grey cognitive maps （FGCMs） is proposed to quantify overall potential for water quality failures. A new method of aggregating different experts based on interval number is presented in the process of constructing FGCM. At last, a case study is utilized to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method.

Objective:the present study evaluates the concurrent and predictive validity of the Seguin Form Board test(SFBt)as an intelligence tool for children in low-and middle-income ***:In a cohort of normal children,followed up in South India,two cross-sectional analyses were done at 3 and 7 years of age on 95 *** SFBt and Vineland Social Matu-rity Scale(VSMS)were done at 3 years of age and Malin’s Intelligence Scale for Indian Children(MISIC)and the VSMS were done at 7 years of age,and the results were compared for concurrent and predictive validity for the ***:Intelligence quotient and social quotient had positive correlations at 3 years of age,indicating fair concurrent *** SFBt done at around 3 years of age had good positive cor-relation with MISIC at 7 years of age,indicating good predictive ***:this study shows the utility of the SFBt as a community-based intelligence tool with acceptable concurrent and predictive validity.

the deposition of Asian dust aerosols during their trans-Pacific transport might cause significant marine phytoplankton biomass increases. However, the knowledge of the trans-Pacific dust transport, deposition, and spatial distribution is still poor due to a lack of continuous and simultaneous observations in the Asian subcontinent, the north Pacific Ocean, and North America. the severe Asian dust storm during 6 to 9 April 2001 provided an opportunity to gain a better understanding of trans-Pacific dust transport and deposition, using a comprehensive set of observations from satellites, ground-based light detection and ranging, aircraft, and surface observation networks. the observations and model simulations outline the general pattern of dust transport, deposition, vertical profile, and spatial distribution. the following points were observed：（1） the surface dust concentrations decreased exponentially with the increasing dust transport distance from 80°E to 120°W along the transport pathway; （2） the altitude of the dust concentration peak increased with increasing transport distance in the north Pacific region; and （3） the spatial distribution of dust deposition mainly depended on the trans-Pacific transport route.

the Lempel Ziv complexity （LZC） method is used to analyze the acceleration response of the t-shaped plate. the response is converted into symbolic sequences with the multi-segmented coarse-grained method. the LZC of the response of 240 points located in different areas near the center is calculated. the results show that LZC arithmetic applied to elastomer vibration can satisfy the discreteness condition.
