Evaluation of periglacial landforms and formation of soil properties on the Mount Honaz,SW türkiye

the main aim of this study is to explain periglacial processes on the summits of Mount Honaz(2571 m a.s.l.),define periglacial landforms,and determine the relationships between morphometric features and topographic *** circles,stony earth circles,non sorted steps,and non sorted stripes were identified on the summits of Mount ***'s correlation coefficient(r)and linear regression analyses were performed by taking metric measurements from 125 periglacial landforms to describe their morphometric features(length,width,height)of periglacial landforms and explain the relationships between them and topographic factors(elevation,slope).to explain the relationships between periglacial landforms and soil properties,soil samples from 11 periglacial landforms were taken and *** landforms,which continue to develop on the summits of Mount Honaz today,have been evaluated with present climate *** of soil samples indicates a notable impact of parent material on the genesis of periglacial *** high ratio of organic matter in mud circle and non sorted step landforms and the high lime ratio in stony earth circle landforms prove a strong relationship between the formation mechanisms of landforms and the soil ***,it is consistent with the findings obtained from the analysis that severe periglacial processes and washing and scavenging events are experienced more on the northern slopes.

In this review, we intend to clarify the underlying ideas and the relations between various multigrid methods ranging from subset decomposition, to projected subspace decomposition and truncated multigrid. In addition, we present a novel globally convergent inexact active set method which is closely related to truncated multigrid. the numerical properties of algorithms are carefully assessed by means of a degenerate problem and a problem with a complicated coincidence set.

background:Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common cause of cancer-related death in Saudi Arabia. Our study aimed to investigate the patterns of HCC and the effect of tNM staging, Alfa-fetoprotein (AFP), and Child-turcotte Pugh (CtP) on patients' overall survival (OS).Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on 43 HCC patients at a single oncology center in Saudi Arabia from 2015 to 2020. All patients had to fulfill one of the following criteria: (a) a liver lesion reported as definitive HCC on dynamic imaging and/or (b) a biopsy-confirmed diagnosis.Results:the mean patient age of all HCC cases was 66.8 with a male-to-female ratio of 3.3:1. All patients were stratified into two groups: viral HCC (n = 22, 51%) and non-viral HCC (n = 21, 49%). Among viral-HCC patients, 55% were due to HbV and 45% due to HCV. Cirrhosis was diagnosed in 79% of cases. Age and sex did not significantly statistically differ in OS among viral and non-viral HCC patients (-value > 0.05). About 65% of patients had tumor size >5 cm during the diagnosis, with a significant statistical difference in OS (-value = 0.027). AFP was >400 ng/ml in 45% of the patients. there was a statistically significant difference in the OS in terms of AFP levels (-value = 0.021). A statistically significant difference was also observed between the CtP score and OS (-value = 0.02). CtP class b had the longest survival. bSC was the most common treatment provided to HCC patients followed by sorafenib therapy. there was a significant statistical difference in OS among viral and non-viral HCC patients (-value = 0.008).Conclusions:the most common predictors for OS were the underlying cause of HCC, AFP, and tumor size. being having non-viral etiology, a tumor size >5 cm, an AFP > 400 ng/mL, and a CtP score class C were all negatively associated with OS.

Measuring vacuum polarization with high-power lasers

When exposed to intense electromagnetic fields, the quantum vacuum is expected to exhibit properties of a polarizable medium akin to a weakly nonlinear dielectric material. Various schemes have been proposed to measure such vacuum polarization effects using a combination of high- power lasers. Motivated by several planned experiments, we provide an overview of experimental signatures that have been suggested to confirm this prediction of quantum electrodynamics of real photon–photon scattering.

A new adaptive bending method using closed loop feedback control

As the competition from companies in low cost countries increases,the need for more automated production which reduces labour cost while improving product quality is required.A new rotary compression bending set-up with automated closed-loop feedback control is thus being *** transferring in-process measurement data into an algorithm for predicting springback and bend angle prior to the unloading sequence,the dimensional accuracy is *** work focuses on the development of this steering *** the method used does not increase cycle time,it is attractive for high-volume industrial *** than 150 bending tests of AA6060 extrusions were conducted to determine the capability of the *** results show that by activating the automated closed-loop feedback system,the dimensional accuracy of the bent parts is more than three times better than that obtained by traditional compression *** the steering model permits the direct use of additional process data,such as instant wall thickness and cross sectional distortions,it is believed that extension of the measurement capabilities would improve the accuracy of the methodology even further.

CompactChain:an efficient stateless chain for UtXO-model blockchain

In this work,we propose a stateless blockchain called CompactChain,which compacts the entire state of the UtXO(Unspent transaction Output)based blockchain systems into two RSA *** first accumulator is called transaction Output(tXO)commitment which represents the tXO *** second one is called Spent transaction Output(StXO)commitment which represents the StXO *** this work,we discuss three algorithms:(i)to update the tXO and StXO commitments by the *** miner also provides the proofs for the correctness of the updated commitments;(ii)to prove the transaction’s validity by providing a membership witness in tXO commitment and non-membership witness against StXO commitment for a coin being spent by a user;(iii)to update the witness for the coin that is not yet spent;the experimental results evaluate the performance of the CompactChain in terms of time taken by a miner to update the commitments and time taken by a validator to verify the commitments and validate the *** compare the performance of CompactChain with the existing state-of-the-art works on stateless *** shows a reduction in commitments update complexity and transaction witness size which inturn reduces the mempool size and propagation latency without compromising the system throughput(transactions per second(tPS)).

Exact solutions to drift-flux multiphase flow models through Lie group symmetry analysis

In the present paper, Lie group symmetry method is used to obtain some exact solutions for a hyperbolic system of partial differential equations （PDEs）, which governs an isothermal no-slip drift-flux model for multiphase flow problem. those sym- metries are used for the governing system of equations to obtain infinitesimal transforma- tions, which consequently reduces the governing system of PDEs to a system of ODEs. Further, the solutions of the system of ODEs which in turn produces some exact solutions for the PDEs are presented. Finally, the evolutionary behavior of weak discontinuity is discussed.

Hepatic adenoma mimicking a metastatic lesion on computed tomography-positron emission tomography scan

Positron emission tomography (PEt) using 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose ( 18F-FDG) is an imaging modality which reflects cellular glucose metabolism. Most malignant cells accumulate and trap 18F-FDG, allowing the visualisation of increased uptake. It is hence widely used to differentiate malignant from benign lesions. "False positive" findings of hepatic lesions have been described in certain instances such as hepatic abscesses, but are rare in cases involving hepatocellular adenomas. to our knowledge, there have been only 7 reports in the English literature documenting PEt-avid hepatocellular adenomas; 6 of the 7 reports were published in the last 3 years with the first report by Patel et al. We report the case of a 44-year-old Chinese female patient with a history of cervical adenocarcinoma, referred for a hepatic lesion noted on a surveillance computed tomography (Ct) scan. A subsequent Ct-PEt performed showed a hypermetabolic lesion (standardized uptake value 7.9) in segment Ⅳb of the liver. After discussion at a multidisciplinary hepato-pancreato-biliary conference, the consensus was that of a metastatic lesion from her previous cervical adenocarcinoma, and a resection of the hepatic lesion was performed. Histology revealed features consistent with a hepatocyte nuclear factor-1 α inactivated steatotic hepatocellular adenoma.

A note on general solution of Stokes equations

Li et al. (2015) claim that it is sufficient to use two harmonic functions to express the general solution of Stokes equations. In this paper, we demonstrate that this is not true in a general case and that we in fact need three scalar harmonic functions to represent the general solution of Stokes equations (Venkatalaxmi et al., 2004).

Reaction of diaminoglyoxime and cyclic azine compounds in high temperature and pressure water

Diaminoglyoxime was reacted in water at 150-400℃ and at 27.5 MPa pressure in metal ti tubing reactor. Experimental results indicate that, diaminoglyoxime can be converted into NH-3 and CO-2, either through direct hydrolysis or through pyrolysis and polymerization, and then further hydrolysis. the possible reaction mechanism is nucleophilic addition of water.
