Association between restrictive pulmonary disease and type 2 diabetes in Koreans:A cross-sectional study

BACKGROUND Diabetes is a progressive disease that increases glucose levels in the *** studies have shown that patients with pulmonary disease(both obstructive and restrictive pulmonary disease)have a higher prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus(t2DM),there have been more studies on restrictive patterns than chronic obstructive pulmonary *** to assess whether restrictive and obstructive pulmonary diseases are associated with t2DM in *** For our analysis,we used data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.A total of 2830 subjects were included in this *** results were categorized into three patterns:Normal,restrictive pulmonary disease(RPD),and obstructive pulmonary disease(OPD).RESULtS the factors used as diabetic indicators(*** model assessment of insulin resistance,homeostatic model assessment of beta-cell function,glycated hemoglobin,and fasting insulin)were among the highest in RPD but not in *** on multivariate logistic regression analysis,subjects with RPD were found with an increased odds ratio[OR:1.907,95%confidence interval(CI):1.110-3.277]for t2DM compared with subjects with normal pulmonary function,whereas in patients with OPD,the OR had not *** 4,which adjusted for the variables that could affect diabetes and pulmonary disease,showed a significant increase in the t2DM OR to RPD(OR:2.025,95%CI:1.264-3.244).On the other hand,no statistically significant difference was shown in OPD(OR:0.982,95%CI:0.634-1.519).CONCLUSION RPD,not OPD,is highly associated with t2DM regardless of the risk factors of various t2DMs that can be confounds.

Dual responsive block copolymer coated hollow mesoporous silica nanoparticles for glucose-mediated transcutaneous drug delivery

A self-regulated anti-diabetic drug release device mimicking pancreatic cells is highly desirable for the therapy of diabetes. Herein, a glucose-mediated dual-responsive drug delivery system, which combines pH-and H_(2)O_(2)-responsive block copolymer grafted hollow mesoporous silica nanoparticles(HMSNs)with microneedle(MN) array patch, has been developed to achieve self-regulated *** poly[4-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)benzyl acrylate]-b-poly[2-(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate](PPBEM-b-PDM) polymer serves as gate keeper to prevent drug release from the cavity of HMSNs at normoglycemic level. In contrast, the drug release rate is significantly enhanced upon H_(2)O_(2)and pH stimuli due to the chemical change of H_(2)O_(2)sensitive PPBEM block and acid responsive PDM block. therefore, incorporation of anti-diabetic drug and glucose oxidase(GOx, which can oxidize glucose to gluconic acid and in-situ produce H_(2)O_(2)) into stimulus polymer coated HMSNs results in a glucose-mediated MN device after depositing the drug-loaded nanoparticles into MN array patch. Both in vitro and in vivo results show this MN device presents a glucose mediated self-regulated drug release characteristic, which possesses a rapid drug release at hyperglycemic level but retarded drug release at normoglycemic level. the result indicates that the fabricated smart drug delivery system is a good candidate for the therapy of diabetes.

Verticillium wilt(VW)is a common soilborne disease of *** occurs mainly in the seedling and bollopening stages and severely impairs the yield and quality of the *** and accurate identification and evaluation of VW severity(VWS)forms the basis of field cotton VW control,which has great significance to cotton *** VWS values are conventionally measured using in-field observations and laboratory test diagnoses,which require abundant time and professional *** and proximal sensing using imagery and spectrometry have great potential for this *** this study,we performed in situ investigations at three experimental sites in 2019 and 2021 and collected VWS values,in situ images,and spectra of 361 cotton *** estimate cotton VWS values at the canopy scale,we developed two deep learning approaches that use in situ images and spectra,*** the imagery-based method,given the high complexity of the in situ environment,we first transformed the task of healthy and diseased leaf recognition to the task of cotton field scene classification and then built a cotton field scenes(CFS)dataset with over 1000 images for each scene-unit *** performed pretrained convolutional neural networks(CNNs)training and validation using the CFS dataset and then used the networks after training to classify scene units for each *** results showed that the Dark Net-19 model achieved satisfactory performance in CFS classification and VWS values estimation(R^(2)=0.91,root-mean-square error(RMSE)=6.35%).For the spectroscopy-based method,we first designed a one-dimensional regression network(1D CNN)with four convolutional *** dimensionality reduction by sensitive-band selection and principal component analysis,we fitted the 1D CNN with varying numbers of principal components(PCs).the 1D CNN model with the top 20 PCs performed best(R^(2)=0.93,RMSE=5.77%).these deep learning-driven approaches offer the potential of assessing cro

An extensive database of reservoir sedimentation surveys throughout continental United States is compiled and analyzed to determine specific degradation SD relationships as function of mean annual rainfall R, drainage area A, and watershed slope S. the database contains 1463 field measurements and specific degradation relationships are defined as function of A, R and S. Weak trends and significant variability in the data are noticeable. Specific degradation measurements are log normally distributed with respect to R, A, and S and 95% confidence intervals are determined accordingly. the accuracy of the predictions does not significantly increase as more independent variables are added to the regression analyses.

Mathematical models between surfacing welding properties of C, Cr, Mo, V, W alloy system and encode factors of alloy additives are established by test methods of advanced trial optimizing technology and computer assistant design (CAD). they help to draw unitary functions and binary isoclines diagrams through which the influence of encode factorial linearity, nonlinear effect and factors interaction of alloy additives on the performances of surfacing welding can be analyzed directly and quantitatively. Meanwhile, the performances of deposited metal can also be predicted according to the content of alloy additives.

Rejuvenation heat treatments can restore the microstructures and mechanical properties of the degraded turbine blades in gas turbine *** we analyze the effects of rejuvenation heat treatments on the microstructural characteristics and mechanical properties of damaged and undamaged specimens of a Ni-based superalloy,*** damaged specimens were found to have degraded microstructures and shorter creep lifetime than the undamaged *** rejuvenation heat treatment proved beneficial,especially for specimens exposed to damage for 50 *** addition,the microstructure recovery and creep life were found to depend on the predamage durations of the specimens.A y’-precipitate-based creep lifetime model was established to predict the residual lifetime based on the microstructural information.

the effect of reactive element yttrium on purification and carbide precipitation of superalloy K4169 has been studied through vacuum induction *** results show that yttrium has a strong deoxidizing and desulfurizing ability,and the impurity elements of sulfur and oxygen in melting K4169 are greatly reduced to 2-5 ppm and 4-5 ppm,*** metallurgical reaction product is mainly y_(2)O_(3)and yttrium containing sulfides have not been *** the increase of the content of yttrium from0.005 wt.%to 0.033 wt.%,the morphology and size of MC carbides in casting are significantly influenced due to that the yttrium changes the diffusion of the carbide forming elements and solid fraction during *** the alloys without yttrium,only isolated blocky or strip carbides exist,while skeletonlike carbides are observed in the alloys with *** the average size and the number density of skeleton carbides decrease monotonously with yttrium content *** yttrium increasing to 0.033 wt.%,a phase of hexagonal Ni17 y2 is observed to precipitate in the form of symbiosis with MC carbide and *** addition of yttrium is not beneficial for the properties of K4169 alloys at the room temperature,which is quite related to the MC carbides with a large skeleton-like morphology through the analysis of tensile fracture.
