Observation of free oscillations after the 2010 Chile and 2011 Japan earthquakes by superconducting gravimeter in Kutch,Gujarat,India

In this paper,we present observations of free oscillations of the Earth after major earthquakes in Chile(February 27,2010,Mw8.8)and Japan(March 11,2011,Mw9.1)using data from the dual-sphere superconducting gravimeter(SG-055),installed at Badargadh(23°0.47 N,70°0.62 E),Kutch,Gujarat,India in March *** see the noise characteristics,we calculated the power spectral density of the gravity time series of 5 quiet days in the frequency band 0.05-20 mHz using the new low noise model(NLNM)as a *** compared the noise level of the Badargadh site to other SG sites around the *** shows that the Badargadh SG is in a low noise *** find that the noise increases at frequencies below 1 *** a characteristic is also observed in Djougou(Afrique,Benin)and Strasbourg(France).Using theoretical tides for Gujarat,we estimated a scale factor of about-814 nm/s~2/v for Gravl(lowersphere)and about-775 nm/s~2/v for Grav2(upper-sphere).We corrected the influence of atmospheric pressure from the one-second gravity data before switching to the frequency *** extracted a total of 53 Earth’s Free Oscillations(EFO)modes during the earthquake in Japan and about 47 EFO modes during the earthquake in *** are able to extract the lowest0S2spheroidal mode(0.30945 mHz or54 min)and0S0radial mode(0.81439 mHz or 20 min).the longer time series shows individual0S2singlets and0S3(0.46855 mHz)singlets due to the Coriolis splitting *** cross-referenced the frequencies of these modes using the PREM model and previous global *** correlation coefficient between the observed and the PREM model for these two events are 0.999 for Japan earthquake and 0.993 for Chile *** validates the quality of the data useful for low-frequency studies in *** also calculated the relative deviations of our observed fundamental modes with previously determined observed and theoretical *** found that the relative deviations of our observed free oscillations

Lower back pain is one of the most common medical problems in the world and it is experienced by a huge percentage of people *** to its ability to produce a detailed view of the soft tissues,including the spinal cord,nerves,intervertebral discs,and vertebrae,Magnetic Resonance Imaging is thought to be the most effective method for imaging the *** semantic segmentation of vertebrae plays a major role in the diagnostic process of lumbar *** is difficult to semantically partition the vertebrae in Magnetic Resonance Images from the surrounding variety of tissues,including muscles,ligaments,and intervertebral discs.U-Net is a powerful deep-learning architecture to handle the challenges of medical image analysis tasks and achieves high segmentation *** work proposes a modified U-Net architecture namely MU-Net,consisting of the Meijering convolutional layer that incorporates the Meijering filter to perform the semantic segmentation of lumbar vertebrae L1 to L5 and sacral vertebra ***-colour mask images were generated and used as ground truth for training the *** work has been carried out on 1312 images expanded from t1-weighted mid-sagittal MRI images of 515 patients in the Lumbar Spine MRI Dataset publicly available from Mendeley *** proposed MU-Net model for the semantic segmentation of the lumbar vertebrae gives better performance with 98.79%of pixel accuracy(PA),98.66%of dice similarity coefficient(DSC),97.36%of Jaccard coefficient,and 92.55%mean Intersection over Union(mean IoU)metrics using the mentioned dataset.

Due to the interconnection of various renewable energies and adaptive technologies, voltage quality and frequency stability of modern power systems are becoming erratic. Superconducting magnetic energy storage(SMES),for its dynamic characteristic, is very efficient for rapid exchange of electrical power with grid during small and large disturbances to address those *** addition,SMES plays an important role in integrating renewable sources such as wind generators to power grid by controlling output power of wind plant and improving the stability of power *** application of SMES in various power system operations depends on the proper location in the power system, exact energy and power ratings and appropriate controllers. In this paper, an effort is given to explain SMES device and its controllability to mitigate the stability of power grid integrated with wind power generation systems.

Parametric optimization of friction stir welding process of age hardenable aluminum alloys-ANFIS modeling

A comparative approach was performed between the response surface method(RSM) and the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system(ANFIS) to enhance the tensile properties, including the ultimate tensile strength and the tensile elongation, of friction stir welded age hardenable AA6061 and AA2024 aluminum alloys. the effects of the welding parameters, namely the tool rotational speed, welding speed, axial load and pin profile, on the ultimate tensile strength and the tensile elongation were analyzed using a three-level, four-factor Box-Behnken experimental design. the developed design was utilized to train the ANFIS models. the predictive capabilities of RSM and ANFIS were compared based on the root mean square error, the mean absolute error, and the correlation coefficient based on the obtained data set. the results demonstrate that the developed ANFIS models are more effective than the RSM model.

Automatic Speech Recognition(ASR)is the process of mapping an acoustic speech signal into a human readable text *** systems exploit the Acoustic Component of ASR using the Gaussian Mixture Model-Hidden Markov Model(GMM-HMM)*** NeuralNetwork(DNN)opens up new possibilities to overcome the shortcomings of conventional statistical *** studies modeled the acoustic component of ASR system using DNN in the so called hybrid DNN-HMM *** the context of activation functions used to model the non-linearity in DNN,Rectified Linear Units(ReLU)and maxout units are mostly used in ASR *** paper concentrates on the acoustic component of a hybrid DNN-HMM system by proposing an efficient activation function for the DNN *** by previous works,euclidean norm activation function is proposed to model the non-linearity of the DNN *** non-linearity is shown to belong to the family of Piecewise Linear(PWL)functions having distinct *** functions can capture deep hierarchical features of the *** relevance of the proposal is examined in depth both theoretically and *** performance of the developed ASR system is evaluated in terms of Phone Error Rate(PER)using tIMIt *** results achieve a relative increase in performance by using the proposed function over conventional activation functions.

Investigation of structural,magnetic and optical properties of rare earth substituted bismuth ferrite

Polycrystalline BiFeO3 and rare earth substituted ***3 （BRFO, R=Y, Ho and Er） compounds were prepared by rapid solid state sintering technique. Structural phase analysis indicated that all the compounds stabilized in rhombohedral structure （R3c space group） and a small orthorhombic phase fraction was observed in BRFO compounds. From the Raman spectra results, the changes in the phonon frequencies （A1） and line widths suggested lattice distortion in the BRFO compounds as was evidenced in the XRD analysis. Compared to the linear variation of magnetization with magnetic field （M-H） shown by BFO, an obvious M-H loop was observed in BRFO compounds which could be due to the suppression of space modulated spin structure and was explained on the basis of weak ferromagnetism and field induced spin reorientation. Uv-vis spectroscopy evidenced a change in local FeO6 envi- ronment due to shift in the 6Alg→4t2g energy transition band. BRFO compounds with improved remnant magnetization and coercive field are applicable for magnetoelectric devices.

Hepatoprotective and antioxidant capacity of Melochia corchorifolia extracts

Objective:to evaluate bepato protective and antioxidant capacity of Melochia corchorifolia （***）aerial part ***:Antioxidant activitywas evaluated by using three free radicals（Superoxide,Hydroxyl and DPPH） and hepatoprotective activity was assessed against CCl4 induced liver intoxication in ***:the extracts produced concentration dependent percentage protection in decrease of serum enzymes and percentage inhibition on free *** all extracts methanol extract showed better activity with percentage protection of SGOt（78.98%）,SGPt（79.65%）,ALP（82.48%） and total bilirubin（80.0%）levels against CCl4 liver intoxication and also methanolic extract showed better activity with IC50 values on superoxide. hydroxyl and DPPH radicals were 127μg.240μg and 179μ***:From the results obtained during the study it could be concluded that *** aerial part extracts have antioxidant and hepaloprotective *** study is necessary for isolation and characterization of bioactive molecules which are responsible for hepatoprotective and antioxidant activity.

Microstructure, properties and hot workability of M300 grade maraging steel

this paper presents isothermal uniaxial compression test results of M300 grade maraging steel over a wide range of temperatures(900 e1200℃) and strain rates(0.001 e100 s^(-1)) to examine hot deformability and concurrent microstructural evolution. Processing map is generated and indicated the optimum processing parameters in the temperature range of 1125℃-1200℃ and strain rate range of 0.001 e0.1 s^(-1). High values of the efficiency of power dissipation, microstructural observations and EBSD results indicate softening mechanism to be the occurrence of dynamic recrystallisation. Material constants in a constitutive relation are evaluated from the flow stress data useful in computer modelling.

A novel approach for speaker diarization system using tMFCC parameterization and Lion optimization

In audio stream containing multiple speakers, speaker diarization aids in ascertaining "who speak when". this is an unsupervised task as there is no prior information about the speakers. It labels the speech signal conforming to the identity of the speaker, namely, input audio stream is partitioned into homogeneous segments. In this work, we present a novel speaker diarization system using the tangent weighted Mel frequency cepstral coefficient(tMFCC) as the feature parameter and Lion algorithm for the clustering of the voice activity detected audio streams into particular speaker groups. thus the two main tasks of the speaker indexing, i.e., speaker segmentation and speaker clustering, are improved. the tMFCC makes use of the low energy frame as well as the high energy frame with more effect, improving the performance of the proposed system. the experiments using the audio signal from the ELSDSR corpus datasets having three speakers, four speakers and five speakers are analyzed for the proposed system. the evaluation of the proposed speaker diarization system based on the tracking distance, tracking time as the evaluation metrics is done and the experimental results show that the speaker diarization system with the tMFCC parameterization and Lion based clustering is found to be superior over existing diarization systems with 95% tracking accuracy.
