this research reports the processing of magnesium matrix composites reinforced with silicon carbide(SiC)and aluminium oxide(Al_(2)O_(3))using powder metallurgy technique through high energy *** of Mg-SiC and Mg-Al_(2)O_(3)composites subjected to high energy ball milling for different vol%of secondary particles 20,30 and 40%of SiC and Al_(2)O_(3)are studied by X-Ray diffraction *** rietveld method as implemented in the Fullprof program is applied in order to determine the quantities of the resulting crystalline phases and amorphous phases at each stage of the mechanical *** examination is carried out using Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM).In addition,crystal structural analysis using appropriate size and strain models is performed in order to handle the distinctive anistrophy that is observed in convinced crystallographic directions for the magnesium *** results are furnished in terms of crystalline domains size enlargement of the magnesium composites phases upon prolonged milling duration and discussed in the light of up to date views and theories on crystal growth of nanocrystaline *** hardness of the composite samples is calculated by Vickers’s Hardness ***,dry sling wear test and corrosion test are performed for the fabricated *** with 30%secondary particles incorporated magnesium composites exhibits better wear and corrosion resistance than the other composites.

Coloured materials in surface water in the sub Arctic Zone: An overview of its formation, properties and environmental changes

Natural organic matter (NOM) is present in most all surface water. this material is governing all chemical and all biological processes in the aquatic environment, and play a practical role in the drinking water industry From an increasing number of international reports, it is clear that the amount of this coloured matter is increasing in areas of the northern hemisphere. We is asked why and we suggest a combination of the following four reasons: 1) Climate (temperature, humidity, nature and frequency of precipitation);2) Quality and quantity of precipitation;3) Nature of catchment (topography and geology), and due to changes in local climate and 4) Quality and intensity of global radiation. In the early 1960s, there were reports from Scandinavia about the decline of coloured matter in lakes. the present increase in colour in our lakes and rivers is partly due to the fact that there are less mineral acids in precipitation. However, change in climate, most probably, plays an even more important role in many regions. As a consequence of the temperature increase, there will also be a change in the amount of precipitation and change in its regional and local distribution. As NOM is “produced” in soil and as the development is based on chemical and microbiological decomposition of plant residues, an increased temperature and more rain will extend the “production-area”. the “global dimming will also have a significant impact on an increased colour in surface water, as less photo-degradation and less bio-available organic matter is resulting. the positive correlation between the colour increase in surface water and the amount of precipitation, may indicate, that there might be a limited amount of water-extractable coloured material in the catchment. It is argued that that the “production” of the coloured matter will increase and that natural losses, such as “bleaching” etc. will be reduced down flow. A Hydrogeophysical Model of the Relationship between Geoelectric and Hydraulic Parameters, Central Jordan

Geoelectrical soundings using the Schlumberger array were carried out in the vicinity of 23 pumping test sites to determine aquifer parameters, central Jordan. On the basis of aquifer geometry, the area has been di-vided into two hydraulic units: the northern flood plain and the flood plain to its south. Field resistivity data are interpreted in terms of the true resistivity and thickness of subsurface layers. these parameters are then correlated with the available pumping test data. Significant correlations between the transmissivity and modified transverse resistance as well as between the hydraulic conductivity and formation factor were ob-tained for the two hydraulic units, in central Jordan are presented here.

Let me begin by thanking the scholars included in this symposium issue, whose thoughtful commentaries mean that they have spent much valuable time in reading and critiquing my new book, Confucian Role Ethics： A Vocabulary. they do me great honor by joining this discussion and have helped me substantially with the uniform quality of their contributions. Indeed, there are few compliments to be cherished more in our academic lives than to be taken seriously by our peers and few opportunities to be relished more than being given the opportunity by the organizers of this event-Ralph Weber and Wen Haiming-to respond to their comments and critiques. I hasten to add that it is only the fact that this manuscript grew out the Ch＇ien Mu （Qian Mu） series of lectures that I was invited to give at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2008 that it had to be a singled-authored volume, and I give my friend and collaborator Henry Rosemont the credit he is due for introducing the idea of Confucian role ethics, while at the same time absolving him of any blame that might be incurred by the many inadequacies in my development of his important insight. Let me turn to each of the individual commentaries on Confucian Role Ethics and respond to them seriatim.

Water-Borne Wood Preservation and End-of-Life Removal History and Projection

Use of water-borne wood preservatives began in approximately the 1950s. Residential and commercial uses rapidly developed for products such as decking, fences, and other outdoor structures. Nearly all such products were treated by preservatives using arsenic as a major ingredient. the most common preservative was chromated copper arsenate (CCA). A smaller volume used ammoniacal copper zinc arsenate (ACZA). Preservative label changes made in 2003 limited uses of these arsenical treatments to industrial or agricultural type uses, such as poles, piles, ties, bridges, and fencing. Use volumes of preservative-treated wood continued to grow after the label change, but the types of preservatives used changed greatly. the amounts of water-borne treated wood reaching end-of-life and being disposed also continued to grow, reflecting the increasing inventory of volume in service. However, the volume of arsenical-treated wood being disposed peaked in approximately 2008 and is now only approximately one-quarter of that volume. Most of the arsenical-treated wood now being disposed consists of large, easily identified and separated pieces, such as round poles, piles, and fence posts and timbers, which can be easily managed separated from other wood construction and demolition (C & D) waste. thus, managing C & D waste to limit arsenic contamination of potential products, such as mulch, will be much more practical than some have feared.

Experimental Studies on the Self-Shielding Effect in Fissile Fuel Breeding Measurement in thorium Oxide Pellets Irradiated with 14 MeV Neutrons

the 14 MeV neutrons produced in the D-t fusion reactions have the potential of breeding Uranium-233 fissile fuel from fertile material thorium-232. In order to estimate the amount of U-233 produced, experiments are carried out by irradiating thorium dioxide pellets with neutrons produced from a 14 MeV neutron generator. the objective of the present work is to measure the reaction rates of 232th ＋ in --＊ 233th --＊ 2a^Pa --＊ 2a3U in different pellet thicknesses to study the self-shielding effects and adopt a procedure for correction. An appropriate assembly consisting of high-density polyethylene is designed and fabricated to slow down the high-energy neutrons, in which thorium pellets are irradiated. the amount of fissile fuel （~3~U） produced is estimated by measuring the 312 keV gammas emitted by Protactinium-233 （half-life of 27 days）. A calibrated High Purity Germanium （HPGe） detector is used to measure the gamma ray spectrum. the amount of 233U produced by th232 （n, ~） is calculated using MCNP code. the self-shielding effect is evaluated by calculating the reaction rates for different foil thickness. MCNP calculation results are compared with the experimental values and appropriate correction factors are estimated for self-shielding of neutrons and absorption of gamma rays.

Online Informative and Educational Resources on the Benefits that a Lifestyle Aimed at the Primary Prevention of Cancer May Also Provide for General Health

to find stimuli for getting young students interested in the primary prevention of cancer and a healthy lifestyle, internet resources have been searched that may motivate and facilitate this study. teachers interested in teaching this subject can download for free and use them with the method felt as most appropriate;they consist of text, graphs, tables, images, quizzes and an interactive atlas. According to a personal experience, the use of these educational resources helps teachers in teaching and students in learning about cancer prevention. According to the World Health Organisation, cancer is a leading and growing cause of mortality with 10 and 14 million new cases worldwide respectively in 2000 and 2012. Several risk factors have been identified;if they are avoided, more than 30% of the cancers can be prevented. the five most important modifiable risk factors, among many others, are: smoking, alcohol, overweight, physical inactivity, low consumption of vegetables and fruit. Cancer may also have genetic causes or be related to certain infections that are more common in some areas than in others. According to several documents also quoted in this article, numerous behaviours that reduce cancer risk may, at the same time, help to prevent other important diseases. Some of the documents quoted here show the very great difference in cancer incidence and mortality rates often existing between different geographic areas. For example, prostate cancer incidence per 100,000 persons per year is 104.4 in New Zealand, and 3.9 in Chennai, India. Many studies found an increase over time in the incidence of certain cancer types in people that move from countries where their risk is low to countries where their risk is high, thus suggesting the important role of environmental changes and lifestyle. 药品和个人护理品(PPCPs)因其潜在的环境和健康风险受到了广泛关注。实验选取8种典型药品为对象,采用中试规模的活性炭工艺研究了其去除效果和影响因素。结果表明,活性炭工艺对安替比林、达舒平、舒必利、磺胺甲唑、泰妙菌素和氧苄胺嘧啶等的去除率为50%～90%,对林肯霉素和氨糖美辛的去除率均小于35%。典型药品的去除率受到滤速、有机物和pH等因素的影响,其中,氨糖美辛、林肯霉素和泰妙菌素等的去除率受滤速影响较大;磺胺甲唑的去除率受pH影响较大。有机物对典型药品去除率的影响既有促进作用,又有抑制作用。典型药品的物化性质对其去除行为有重要影响,这有利于从分子水平上认识活性炭工艺对典型药品的去除机理。

Primary colon resection or Hartmann's procedure in malignant left-sided large bowel obstruction? the use of stents as a bridge to surgery
