the consistency of reporting results for patient-derived xenograft(PDX) studies is an area of concern. the PDX method commonly starts by implanting a derivative of a human tumor into a mouse, then comparing the tumor growth under different treatment conditions. Currently, a wide array of statistical methods(e.g., t-test, regression, chi-squared test) are used to analyze these data, which ultimately depend on the outcome chosen(e.g., tumor volume, relative growth, categorical growth). In this simulation study, we provide empirical evidence for the outcome selection process by comparing the performance of both commonly used outcomes and novel variations of common outcomes used in PDX studies. Data were simulated to mimic tumor growth under multiple scenarios, then each outcome of interest was evaluated for 10?000 iterations. Comparisons between different outcomes were made with respect to average bias, variance, type-1 error, and power. A total of 18 continuous, categorical, and time-to-event outcomes were evaluated, with ultimately 2 outcomes outperforming the others: final tumor volume and change in tumor volume from ***, the novel variations of the tumor growth inhibition index(tGII)— a commonly used outcome in PDX studies— was found to perform poorly in several scenarios with inflated type-1 error rates and a relatively large bias. Finally, all outcomes of interest were applied to a real-world dataset.

Six sterically hindered chloro meso-tetra-ortho-alkylphenylporphinato irons (t(o-R)PPFe(III)Cl, R = Me, Et, n-Pr, i-Pr, n-Bu, t-Bu) were synthesized and used to catalyze the monooxygenation of cyclohexane with PhIO. Both the yields of cyclohexanol and the relative rates of monooxygenation of cyclohexane catalyzed by t(o-R) PPFe(IIl)Cl were higher than those of tPPFe(III)Cl respectively. the order of the yields(%) of cyclohexanol and the rate of cyclohexanol formation in the monooxygenation of cyclohexane catalyzed by t(o-R)PPFe(III)Cl for the different substituents are: i-Pr(58) > Et(57) > n-Pr(52) > Me(51) > n-Bu(48) > t-Bu(46) > H(35) and i-Pr > Et > t-Bu > n-Pt greater than or equal to Me greater than or equal to n-Bu greater than or equal to H respectively. the special steric effect on the catalytic character of these different alkyl substituents in t(o-R)PPFe(III)Cl is proposed on the basis of the results.

Special microspheres dispersed in epoxy resin prior to curing can toughen brittle resin by formation of a second phase. In this work, rigid particles (HP), hollow particles (PO) and rubber powders (PR) are used to modify epoxy resins for the study on the toughening mechanism. the single-edge notched three-point bending test and t peel test have been used to measure the toughness of epoxy resin. the morphology (particle/matrix interfacial shape) of epoxy resin modified with these three kinds of microspheres has been investigated by transmission electron microscopy (tEM). the results show that these three kinds of modifiers are all effective, and the core-shell rubber particle (PR) is the best toughening modifier among them. It is also found that the toughening effect is dependent on the morphology of the interface between the particles and matrix and the different curing conditions really result in obviously different interface states. the excellent interfacial interaction plays a significant role in toughening epoxy resin.

the role of grain-boundary (GB) in the melting for Sigma=5 bicrystals of B2 NiAl is investigated by molecular-dynamics simulation. the thermodynamic properties of the boundary are monitored over a wide temperature range including the thermodynamic melting point t-m which is determined by using a many-body potential fitted to NiAl. A thermal disorder transition in the GB region occurs well below the melting point. Our results indicate that such a transition is a continuous process and there is no evidence of premelting, which is entirely in accord with experimental results and theoretical prediction. Moreover, we also find that the superheated temperature range of this intermetallic alloy is much wider than that of some elemental metals.

Approximately 8%of all non-Hodgkin lymphomas are extranodal marginal zone B cell lymphomas of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue(MALt),also known as MALt *** arise at a wide range of different extranodal sites,with most cases affecting the stomach,the lung,the ocular adnexa and the *** small intestine is involved in a lower percentage of *** growth in the early stages is associated with long-lasting chronic inflammation provoked by bacterial infections(e.g.,Helicobacter pylori or Chlamydia psittaci infections)or autoimmune conditions(e.g.,sjögren’s syndrome or Hashimoto thyroiditis).While these inflammatory processes trigger lymphoma cell proliferation and/or survival,they also shape the ***,activated immune cells are actively recruited to the lymphoma,resulting in either direct lymphoma cell stimulation via surface receptor interactions and/or indirect lymphoma cell stimulation via secretion of soluble factors like *** addition,chronic inflammatory conditions cause the acquisition of genetic alterations resulting in autonomous lymphoma cell ***,novel agents targeting the microenvironment have been developed and clinically tested in MALt lymphomas as well as other lymphoid *** this review,we aim to describe the composition of the microenvironment of MALt lymphoma,the interaction of activated immune cells with lymphoma cells and novel therapeutic approaches in MALt lymphomas using immunomodulatory and/or microenvironmenttargeting agents.
