Highly sensitive flexible strain sensor based on the two-dimensional semiconductor tellurium with a negative gauge factor

research on flexible strain sensors has advanced rapidly in recent years, with particular attention being devoted to two-dimensional(2D) semiconductor materials owing to their exceptional mechanical and electrical properties that are conducive to sophisticated sensing performance. However, resistive strain sensors based on 2D semiconductor materials typically exhibit positive gauge factors(GF), while materials for strain sensors with a negative GF remain elusive. We have identified a trend of reduction in the band gap of the emerging 2D semiconductor material tellurium(te) under strain in simulations reported in past research,and have observed a negative GF in the te-based strain sensor. In this study, we combined te with a flexible polyethylene terephthalate(PEt) substrate to manufacture a flexible strain sensor with a significantly negative GF. the results of tests revealed that the te-based strain sensor achieved an impressive maximum sensitivity of-139.7 within a small range of bending-induced strain(rthermore, it exhibited excellent linearity and good cyclic stability, and was successfully applied to monitor limb movements. the work here verifies the significant potential for the use of te-based strain sensors in next-generation flexible electronics.

Molecular evolution of toll-like receptors in rodents

toll-like receptors(tLrs),the key sensor molecules in vertebrates,trigger the innate immunity and prime the adaptive immune *** tLr family of rodents,the largest order of mammals,typically contains 13 tLr ***,a clear picture of the evolution of the rodent tLr family has not yet emerged and the tLr evolutionary patterns are unclear in rodent ***,we analyzed the natural variation and the evolutionary processes acting on the tLr family in rodents at both the interspecific and population *** results showed that rodent tLrs were dominated by purifying selection,but a series of positively selected sites(PSSs)primarily located in the ligand-binding domain was also *** numbers of PSSs differed among tLrs,and nonviralsensing tLrs had more PSSs than those in viral-sensing ***-conversion events were found between tLr1 and tLr6 in most rodent *** genetic analyses showed that tLr2,tLr8,and tLr12 were under positive selection in rattus norvegicus and ***,whereas positive selection also acted on tLr5 and tLr9 in the former species,as well as tLr1 and tLr7 in the latter ***,we found that the proportion of polymorphisms with potentially functional change was much lower in viral-sensing tLrs than in nonviral-sensing tLrs in both of these rat *** findings revealed the first thorough insight into the evolution of the rodent tLr genetic variability and provided important novel insights into the evolutionary history of tLrs over long and short timescales.

Underwater inertial error rectification with limited acoustic observations

Distributed generalized Nash equilibrium seeking:event-triggered coding-decoding-based secure communication

In this paper, we consider the distributed generalized Nash equilibrium(GNE) seeking problem in strongly monotone games. the transmission among players is implemented through a digital communication network with limited bandwidth. For improving communication efficiency or/and security, an event-triggered coding-decoding-based communication is first proposed, where the data(decision variable) are first mapped to a series of finite-level codewords and, only when an event condition is satisfied, then sent to the neighboring agents. Moreover, a distributed communication-efficient GNE seeking algorithm is constructed accordingly,and the overrelaxation scheme is further taken into consideration. through primal-dual analysis, the proposed algorithm is proven to converge to a variational GNE with fixed step-sizes by recasting it as an inexact forward-backward iteration. Finally, numerical simulations illustrate the benefit of the proposed algorithms in terms of saving communication resources.

A novel and promising engineering application of carbon dots:Enhancing the chloride binding performance of cement

Corrosion of reinforcement induced by chloride invasion is extensively considered as the dominating deterioration mechanism of reinforced concrete(rC)structures,leading to serious safety hazards and tremendous economic ***,it still lacks well dispersive and cost-efficient nanomaterials to improve the anti-chloride-corrosion ability of rC ***,specific carbon dots(CDs)with high dispersity and low cost are deliberately designed,successfully prepared by hydrothermal processing,and then firstly applied to immensely enhance chloride binding performance of cement,thereby contributing to suppressing the corrosion of ***,the tailored CDs are composed of the carbon core with highly crystalline sp^(2)C structures and oxygen-containing groups connecting on the carbon core;the typical equilibrium test confirms that with respect to that of the blank cement paste,the chloride binding capacity of cement paste involving 0.2 wt%(by weight of cement)CDs is increased by 109% after 14-day exposure to 3 mol/L Na Cl solution;according to comprehensive analyses of phase compositions,the chloride binding mechanism of CDs-modified cement is rationally attributed to the fact that the incorporation of CDs advances the formation of calcium silicate hydrate(C-S-H)gels and Friedel's salt(Fs),thus enormously enhancing the physically adsorbed and chemically bound chloride ions of cement *** work not only firstly provides a novel high-dispersity and low-cost nanomaterial toward the durability enhancement of rC structures,but also broadens the application of CDs in the field of engineering,conducing to stimulating their industrialization development.

Gravitational wave footprints from Higgs-portal scalegenesis with multiple dark chiral scalars

We discuss the gravitational wave(GW)spectra predicted from the electroweak scalegenesis of the Higgs portal type with a large number of dark chiral flavors,which many flavor QCD would underlie and give the dynamical explanation of the negative Higgs portal coupling required to trigger the electroweak symmetry *** employ the linear-sigma model as the low-energy description of dark many flavor QCD and show that the model undergoes ultra-supercooling due to the produced strong first-order thermal phase transition along the(approximately realized)flat direction based on the Gildener-Weinberg *** through evaluation of the bubble nucleation/percolation,we address the reheating and relaxation processes,which are generically non-thermal and *** the reheating epoch in terms of the e-folding number,we propose proper formulae for the redshift effects on the GW frequencies and signal *** then turns out that the ultra-supercooling predicted from the Higgs-portal scalegenesis generically yields none of GW signals with the frequencies as low as nano Hz,unless the released latent heat is transported into another sector other than reheating the ***,models of this class prefer to give the higher frequency signals and still keeps the future prospected detection sensitivity,like at LISA,BBO,and DECIGO,*** also find that with large flavors in the dark sector,the GW signals are made further smaller and the peak frequencies *** phenomenological consequences related to the multiple chiral scalars include the prediction of dark pions with the mass much less than teV scale,which is also briefly addressed.
