Impact of lanthanum on the modification of HfO_2 films structure

LaxHf1-xOy thin films with various concentrations of La, homogeneous and nonhomogeneous distributions of elements throughout the films thickness was purposefully grown by CVD. the composition of the films and their chemical structures were characterized throughout the films thickness by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XpS） and energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry （EDXA）. A full picture of the film crystallinity was provided by the combination of grazing incidence X-ray diffraction （GIXRD） synchrotron radiation （SR） and high resolution transmission electron microscopy （HR tEM）. It was shown that La acted as ＂molar volume modulator＂ and stabilized the nonequilibrium at t≤1300 ℃ cubic phases. the samples with La content in range of 7 at.%〈CLa〈22 at.% were materials with fluorite-type （Fm-3m） structure. the pyroehlore phase formation was observed at -18 at.% La content. the correlation between the La-doped content and the films microstructure was revealed.

the identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced background.this paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the AtLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 teV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the AtLAS experiment.two taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet pseudorapidity.Differences in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 teV and for multiple tagger working points.

third-harmonic generation and imaging with resonant Si membrane metasurface

Dielectric metasurfaces play an increasingly important role in enhancing optical nonlinear generations owing to their ability to support strong light-matter interactions based on Mie-type multipolar resonances.Compared to metasurfaces composed of the periodic arrangement of nanoparticles,inverse,so-called,membrane metasurfaces offer unique possibilities for supporting multipolar resonances,while maintaining small unit cell size,large mode volume and high field enhancement for enhancing nonlinear frequency conversion.Here,we theoretically and experimentally investigate the formation of bound states in the continuum(BICs)from silicon dimer-hole membrane metasurfaces.We demonstrate that our BIC-formed resonance features a strong and tailorable electric near-field confinement inside the silicon membrane films.Furthermore,we show that by tuning the gap between the holes,one can open a leaky channel to transform these regular BICs into quasi-BICs,which can be excited directly under normal plane wave incidence.to prove the capabilities of such metasurfaces,we demonstrate the conversion of an infrared image to the visible range,based on the third-harmonic generation(tHG)process with the resonant membrane metasurfaces.Our results suggest a new paradigm for realising efficient nonlinear photonics metadevices and hold promise for extending the applications of nonlinear structuring surfaces to new types of all-optical near-infrared imaging technologies.

Brucellosis is an urgent infectious disease of livestock and wild animals and the commonest human zoonosis. Diagnosis of brucellosis is rather complicated and it has to be obligatorily confirmed by laboratory testing. Direct bacteriological and molecular methods and indirect serological tests are used for brucellosis diagnostics. the choice of the diagnostic tools depends on the overall epidemiological situation in the region and the objectives of the study: validation of the diagnosis, screening (monitoring), cross-sectional studies or confirmation of brucellosis-free status of the region. the review describes current bacteriological, serological and molecular methods, routinely used for the diagnosis of brucellosis in humans and animals. the perspectives of brucellosis diagnostics are also discussed.
