Mulberry thrips Pseudodendrothrips mori (niwa, 1908) is a major pest of mulberry trees recorded from different sericultural regions of the world. the thrips infestation affects the qualitative and quantitative characters of mulberry leaf, by direct feeding damage to leaves and the ingestion of sap, which in turn affects the silkworm cocoon crop. this is most harmful in dry climates and seasons when heavily attacked plants lose moisture heavily. Under these conditions infestation can seriously deplete yields. the seasonal population fluctuation and the degree of damage caused to the host plant are influenced by various environmental factors including climate, host-plant variety, topography, soil type, and management *** article attempts to review all available documents on mulberry thrips and to discuss the practical approaches for best control of this pest.

Among various functional genomics tools used to characterize genes in plants, transposonbased mutagenesis approaches offer great potential, especially in barley and wheat, which possess large genomes and in which genetic transformation is not routine. two Ds transposon flanking sequences(tnPs), tnP-29(27.4 c M(centi Morgan)) and tnP-79(70.3 c M), were mapped in the vicinity of a malting quality QtL located on chromosome 4H of barley. Reactivation of the Ds transposon sequence from these tnP lines led to the identification of genes in the malting QtL regions. Several Ds(dissociation) lines were generated by crossing tnP-29 and tnP-79 with an Ac tPase(activator) expressing line(25-B), and F2 progenies were subsequently screened for Ds insertions at new locations. to further characterize these Ds mutants, we mapped the new Ds flanking sequences on a barley genetic map and found that 29% of Ds were located in regions associated with the malting QtL located on chromosome 4H and in close proximity to other important malting-associated QtL across the barley chromosome. Using a sequence based approach, a linkage map was generated that confirmed the position of Ds loci in the barley genome map. Locating these Ds loci on the barley map opens avenues to dissect important malting QtL for facilitating identification of candidate malting genes.

Peripheral nerve injuries induce a severe motor and sensory deficit. Since the availability of autologous nerve transplants for nerve repair is very limited, alternative treatment strategies are sought, including the use of tubular nerve guidance conduits(tnGCs). However, the use of tnGCs results in poor functional recovery and central necrosis of the regenerating tissue, which limits their application to short nerve lesion defects(typically shorter than 3 cm). Given the importance of vascularization in nerve regeneration, we hypothesized that enabling the growth of blood vessels from the surrounding tissue into the regenerating nerve within the tnGC would help eliminate necrotic processes and lead to improved regeneration. In this study, we reported the application of macroscopic holes into the tubular walls of silk-based tnGCs and compared the various features of these improved silk^(+) tnGCs with the tubes without holes(silk^(–) tnGCs) and autologous nerve transplants in an 8-mm sciatic nerve defect in rats. Using a combination of micro-computed tomography and histological analyses, we were able to prove that the use of silk^(+) tnGCs induced the growth of blood vessels from the adjacent tissue to the intraluminal neovascular formation. A significantly higher number of blood vessels in the silk^(+) group was found compared with autologous nerve transplants and silk^(–), accompanied by improved axon regeneration at the distal coaptation point compared with the silk^(–) tnGCs at 7 weeks postoperatively. In the 15-mm(critical size) sciatic nerve defect model, we again observed a distinct ingrowth of blood vessels through the tubular walls of silk^(+) tnGCs, but without improved functional recovery at 12 weeks postoperatively. Our data proves that macroporous tnGCs increase the vascular supply of regenerating nerves and facilitate improved axonal regeneration in a short-defect model but not in a critical-size defect model. this study suggests that further optimizatio

In this paper, an efficient technique for optimal design of digital infinite impulse response （IIR） filter with minimum passband error （ep）, minimum stopband error （es）, high stopband attenuation （As）, and also free from limit cycle effect is proposed using cuckoo search （CS） algorithm. In the proposed method, error function, which is multi-model and non-differentiable in the heuristic surface, is constructed as the mean squared difference between the designed and desired response in frequency domain, and is optimized using CS algorithm. Computational efficiency of the proposed technique for exploration in search space is examined, and during exploration, stability of filter is maintained by considering lattice representation of the denominator polynomials, which requires less computational complexity as well as it improves the exploration ability in search space for designing higher filter taps. A comparative study of the proposed method with other algorithms is made, and the obtained results show that 90% reduction in errors is achieved using the proposed method. However, computational complexity in term of CPU time is increased as compared to other existing algorithms.

to explore the silicate lattice-based nanophosphors, a series of Eu3+-doped Z_(2)Si_(3)O_(8)(Z = Mg, Ca and Sr) materials were prepared by sol–gel procedure. the metal nitrates and silica powder were used as precursor components for the synthesis of these luminescent materials. Photoluminescence(PL) emission spectra, powder X-ray diffraction(PXRD), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FtIR) and transmission electron microscopy(tEM)spectroscopic techniques were applied for the characterization of the fabricated materials. three peaks were observed at 589, 613 and 650–652 nm corresponding to ^(5)D_(0)→^(7)F_(1-3) transition in PL emission spectra. Upon395 nm excitation and at 0.03 mol Eu3+, these nanophosphors displayed optimum photoluminescence with the most intense peak analogous to ^(5)D_(0)→^(7)F_(2)transition of dopant ion. the as-prepared phosphor materials were re-heated at1050 and 1150 ℃ to observe the consequences of higher temperatures on the emission intensity and crystal *** analysis confirmed that all the synthesized materials were of crystalline nature, and the crystallinity was observed to be improved by increasing the temperature. In the FtIR spectrum, peaks at 483 and 610 cm^(-1) proved the existence of SiO_(4)group in Ca_(2)Si_(3)O_(8), and the peak centered at 417 cm^(-1) confirmed the presence of MgO6 octahedral in Mg_(2)Si_(3)O_(8) materials. tEM images were used to determine the particle size(13–35 nm) and to study the threedimensional structure of nanophosphor materials. the experimental studies indicate that these materials may be promising as red-emitting nanophosphors for white lightemitting diodes.

the conventional Kalman filter is based on the assumption of non-delayed measurements. Several modifications appear to address this problem, but they are constrained by two crucial assumptions: 1) the delay is an integer multiple of the sampling interval, and 2) a stochastic model representing the relationship between delayed measurements and a sequence of possible non-delayed measurements is known. Practical problems often fail to satisfy these assumptions, leading to poor estimation accuracy and frequent track-failure. this paper introduces a new variant of the Kalman filter, which is free from the stochastic model requirement and addresses the problem of fractional *** proposed algorithm fixes the maximum delay(problem specific), which can be tuned by the practitioners for varying delay possibilities. A sequence of hypothetically defined intermediate instants characterizes fractional delays while maximum likelihood based delay identification could preclude the stochastic model requirement. Fractional delay realization could help in improving estimation accuracy. Moreover, precluding the need of a stochastic model could enhance the practical applicability. A comparative analysis with ordinary Kalman filter shows the high estimation accuracy of the proposed method in the presence of delay.

transposable element-based molecular markers can be utilized to investigate genetic diversity and to create genetic linkage *** this study,Class I and class II transposons were employed to obtain a comparative account of genetic diversity between wild and cultivated barley *** types of PCR-based techniques were used:IMP(Inter MItE Polymorphism),IRAP(Inter-Retrotransposon Amplified Polymorphism)and REMAP(Retrotransposon-Microsatellite Amplified Polymorphism).Specific primer pairs for IMP,IRAP,and REMAP detected a total of 200 bands with an average of 20 bands per *** mean polymorphic information content(PIC)and discrimination power(D)values in all 47 genotypes from these three types of transposon-based polymorphisms were 0.910 and0.935,*** Pair Group Method with Arithmetic mean(UPGMA)-based cluster analysis classified all 47 genotypes,both wild and cultivated,into separate groups consistent with their geographical *** followed by chromosome location of polymorphic bands enables precise gene introgression from wild gene pool to cultivated *** highly polymorphic nature of these marker systems makes them suitable for use in varietal identification and MAS-based breeding programs in barley and other cereals.
