A new target design is presented to model high-energy radiative accretion shocks in polars. In this paper, we present the experimental results obtained on the GEKKO XII laser facility for the POLAR project. the experimental results are compared with 2 D FCI2 simulations to characterize the dynamics and the structure of plasma flow before and after the collision. the good agreement between simulations and experimental data confirms the formation of a reverse shock where cooling losses start modifying the post-shock region. With the multi-material structure of the target,a hydrodynamic collimation is exhibited and a radiative structure coupled with the reverse shock is highlighted in both experimental data and simulations. the flexibility of the laser energy produced on GEKKO XII allowed us to produce high-velocity flows and study new and interesting radiation hydrodynamic regimes between those obtained on the LULI2000 and Orion laser facilities.

In this paper, we present a model characterizing the interaction of a radiative shock(RS) with a solid material, as described in a recent paper(Koenig et al., Phys. Plasmas, 24, 082707(2017)), the new model is then related to recent experiments performed on the GEKKO XII laser facility. the RS generated in a xenon gas cell propagates towards a solid obstacle that is ablated by radiation coming from the shock front and the radiative precursor, mimicking processes occurring in astrophysical phenomena. the model presented here calculates the dynamics of the obstacle expansion,which depends on several parameters, notably the geometry and the temperature of the shock. All parameters required for the model have been obtained from experiments. Good agreement between experimental data and the model is found when spherical geometry is taken into account. As a consequence, this model is a useful and easy tool to infer parameters from experimental data(such as the shock temperature), and also to design future experiments.

this paper describes a model of electron energization and cyclotron-maser emission applicable to astrophysical magnetized collisionless shocks. It is motivated by the work of Begelman, Ergun and Rees [Astrophys. J. 625, 51(2005)] who argued that the cyclotron-maser instability occurs in localized magnetized collisionless shocks such as those expected in blazar jets. We report on recent research carried out to investigate electron acceleration at collisionless shocks and maser radiation associated with the accelerated electrons. We describe how electrons accelerated by lower-hybrid waves at collisionless shocks generate cyclotron-maser radiation when the accelerated electrons move into regions of stronger magnetic fields. the electrons are accelerated along the magnetic field and magnetically compressed leading to the formation of an electron velocity distribution having a horseshoe shape due to conservation of the electron magnetic moment. Under certain conditions the horseshoe electron velocity distribution function is unstable to the cyclotron-maser instability [Bingham and Cairns, Phys. Plasmas 7, 3089(2000); Melrose, Rev. Mod. Plasma Phys. 1, 5(2017)].

this paper examines the transport analysis, including both heat transfer and mass transfer, in hybrid nanofluid flow containing gyrotactic microorganisms towards a curved oscillatory surface. the influence of magnetic fields is also inspected in terms of their physical characteristics. to depict the phenomena of transport, modified versions of both Fick's and Fourier's laws are used. Additionally, the characteristics of both heterogeneous and homogeneous chemical reactions are also incorporated. Utilizing a curvilinear coordinate system, the flow problem is formulated as partial differential equations(PDEs)for momentum, concentration, microorganism field, and energy. An analytical solution to the obtained flow equations is achieved utilizing the homotopy analysis method(HAM).the effects of significant flow parameters on the pressure and microorganism fields, velocity, oscillation velocity, concentration, and temperature distributions are shown via graphs. Furthermore, the variations in skin friction, mass transfer rate, heat transfer rate, and local motile number due to different involved parameters are presented in tables and are analyzed in detail. Graphical results indicate that the curves of velocity and temperature fields are enhanced as the values of the solid volume fraction variables *** is also verified that the concentration rate field decreases as the values of the homogeneous reaction strength parameter and the radius of curvature parameter increase, and it increases with the Schmidt number and the heterogeneous reaction strength *** outcomes show a favorable response of the motile number to advanced values of the Peclet number, the Schmidt number, the microorganism difference parameter, and the bio-convective Lewis number.

this paper investigates the free vibration and transient response of interconnected structures including double curved beams and intermediate straight beams,which are all constructed from functionally graded porous(FGP) materials. the strain potential and kinetic energies of each beam along with the work done by the external force are calculated. Additionally, a higher-order beam element is introduced to derive stiffness and mass matrices, along with the force vector. the curved and straight beams are discretized, and their assembled stiffness, mass matrices, and force vectors, are *** conditions at the joints are used to derive the total matrices of the entire structure. Subsequently, the natural frequencies and transient response of the system are determined. the accuracy of the mathematical model and the self-developed computer program is validated through the comparison of the obtained results with those of the existing literature and commercial software ANSYS, demonstrating excellent ***, a comprehensive study is conducted to investigate the effects of various parameters on the free vibration and transient response of the considered structure.

Radial profiles of impurity ions of carbon, neon and iron were measured for high- temperature plasmas in large helical device （LHD） using a space-resolved extreme ultraviolet （EUV） spectrometer in the wavelength range of 60A to 400 A. the radial positions of the impurity ions obtained are compared with the local ionization energies, El of these impurity ions and the electron temperatures t,z there. the impurity ions with 0.3 keV 〈_ Ei ≤ 1.0 keV are always located in outer region of plasma, i.e., 0.7 ≤ p ≤ 1.0, and those with Ei ≤ 0.3 keV are located in the ergodic layer, i.e., 1.0 ≤ p≤ 1.1, with a sharp peak edge, where p is the normalized radial position. It is newly found that tez is approximately equal to Ei for the impurity ions with Ei ≤ 0.3 keV, whereas roughly half the value of El for the impurity ions with 0.3 keV≤ Ei ≤ 1.0 keV. It is known that tez is considerably lower than Ei in the plasma edge and approaches to Ei in the plasma core. therefore, this result seems to originate from the difference in the transverse transport between the plasma edge at p 〈1.0 and the ergodic layer at p ≥ 1.0. the transverse transport is studied with an impurity transport simulation code. the result revealed that the difference appearing in the impurity radial positions can be qualitatively explained by the different values of diffusion coefficient, e.g., D=0.2 m2/s and 1.0 m2/s, which can be taken as a typical index of the transverse transport.

Appreciation of soft-tissue thickness(Stt)at surgical sites is an increasingly recognized aspect of arthroplasty procedures as it may potentially impacting postoperative *** research has focused on the predictive value of preoperative Stt measurements for complications following various forms of arthroplasty,particularly infections,across procedures such as total knee,hip,shoulder,and ankle *** studies have indicated that increased Stt is associated with a higher risk of complications,including infection and wound healing *** assessment of Stt before surgery could play a crucial role in identifying patients at a higher risk of complications and may be instru-mental in guiding preoperative planning to optimize outcomes in arthroplasty *** measurement techniques and further research are essential to enhance the reliability and clinical utility of Stt assessment for arthro-plasty surgery.

Magnetic dipole forbidden （M1） transition was studied in large helical device （LHD） and F-, Si- and ti-like M1 transitions are successfully observed for highly ionized Ar, Kr, Mo and Xe ions. the wavelengths measured in visible range for the heavy elements, which are carefully determined with extremely small uncertainties of 0.02 - 0.05 A as a standard wavelength of usual electric dipole （El） plasma emissions, are compared with theoretical predictions. the result shows a good agreement with recent Hatree-Fock calculation including semi-empirical adjustment. the M1 intensity for the F-like ions is examined by analyzing the intensity ratio of M1 to El. Density dependence of the ratio is experimentally verified by comparing with collisional- radiative model calculation on level population. the M1/E1 line ratio for the F-like ions is applied to the α （He^2＋） particle diagnostics in ItER, in which a steady-state operation of burning plasmas based on D-t fusion reaction is expected with α particle heating. Unfortunately, the present estimation suggests a negative result for the α particle measurement because the ratio is largely enhanced by the collisional excitation with bulk ions due to high ion temperature of ItER of 10 keV as assumed and the resultant effect of the collisional excitation with α particles becomes less. Meanwhile, the M1 transition, in particular, ti-like WLIII （W^52＋） transition （3627 A） emitted in visible range, is very useful for diagnostics of the impurity behavior and the core plasma parameters in ItER.
