Due to acidic solutions aggressiveness, corrosion inhibitors use is considered to be one the most practical methods to delay metals dissolution in the said solutions. In this study benzimidazolyl derivative namely 2-cyanochalcones 2-(5-nitro-1,3-dihydrobenzimidazol-2-ylidene)-3-oxo-3-(2-oxo-2H-chromen-3-yl) propanenitrile which was synthesized was then applied as a corrosion inhibitor for copper in 1 M HNO3 solution. the inhibition action of this molecule was evaluated by gravimetric and density functional theory (DFt) methods. It was found experimentally that this compound has a better inhibition performance and its adsorption on copper surface follows Langmuir adsorption isotherm. this adsorption evolves with temperature and inhibitor concentration, it is endothermic and occurs spontaneously with an increase in disorder. Corrosion kinetic parameters analysis supported by Adejo-Ekwenchi model revealed the existence of both physisorption and chemisorption. DFt calculations related that compound adsorption on copper surface is due to its electron donating and accepting capacity. the reactive regions specifying the electrophilic and nucleophilic attack sites were analyzed using Fukui and dual descriptor functions. Experimental results obtained were compared with the theoretical findings.

In Jeju Island, which is the largest island in South Korea, main portion of the required electric power is provided from the mainland through two HVDC lines. Since Jeju HVDC is operated on frequency control mode and it covers entire power variations in Jeju Island, it has a most significant impact on the power system in Jeju Island. the large-scale wind generation also could have significant impacts on the power system in Jeju Island. this is because the total capacity of wind power is considerable large compared to the load in Jeju Island and it can threaten the stable operation of the power system. In this paper, dynamic modeling of wind farms and Jeju HVDC is developed using PSS/E. Wind farms are composed of doubly fed induction generators （DFIGs）. Model writing technique is used to develop user-defined models for controlling HVDC frequency and imposing maximum penetration limit. the simulation results indicate the effectiveness of the dynamic modeling for stability studies of the power system in Jeju Island.

Climate change, coupled with insufficient and irregular rains, led to a decline in the productivity of Ivorian cocoa production. the present study aimed to screen three cocoa (theobroma cacao L.) genotypes in order to evaluate their response to water stress at callus and somatic embryos induction and proliferation stages. Staminode and petal explants of the genotypes C1, C14 and C16 from the collection of National Center of Agronomic Research (CNRA) of Ivory Coast, were placed on medium DKW (Driver & Kuniyuki Walnut) in the presence of different concentrations of Polyethylene glycol (PEG) 6000 (0, 25, 50, 75, 100 and 125 g/l). this polymer was used as osmoticum to stimulate water stress. Data were recorded for callus induction frequency, callus fresh weight, embryogenic callus percentage and average number of somatic embryos. the results obtained showed that intensity of callus proliferation decreased with increasing concentration of PEG 6000. In all genotypes tested, only the petal explants underwent somatic embryogenesis. the induction rates and average number of somatic embryos per explant were reduced with the increase in the concentration of PEG 6000. Among the tested genotypes, C1 produced somatic embryos with all concentrations of PEG 6000 and expressed highest frequencies of induction (62%) and average number of somatic embryos per explant (6.22). this genotype would be the most tolerant to water stress. Somatic embryos obtained with high concentrations of PEG 6000 in this study provide an important basis for the selection and further production of water stress-tolerant varieties of cocoa.

Probiotification of plant milk can improve its sensory and health-promoting properties. As traditional fermented foods where lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are present have been associated with beneficial effects on human health, the beneficial effects of two LAB recently isolated from two current Ivorian staple foods (a pepper and a traditional beer) were screened. these two strains LAC 1 (Lactobacillus plantarum) and LAC 2 (Pediococcus acidilactici) which presented probiotic, exopolysaccharides, inflammatory and anti-oxidant activities, were used to ferment a composite plant milk of tiger-nut and cashew (80/20) compared to two starters of a commercial yogourt. the obtained plant milks SCt 2 and SCt 3 with a significant increase in their antioxidant and/or anti-inflammatory activities and lactic bacteria contents were more preferred by consumers than SCt 1 obtained by fermentation of the commercial yogourt starters. the mixing of LAC 1 and LAC 2 was not beneficial. SCt 2 (with an anti-inflammatory activity of 31.38% and an anti-oxidant activity of 17.30%) and SCt 3 (with an anti-oxidant activity of 22.28) could be further tested in animal models to verify their nutrition-health claims.

Since 2015, Côte d’Ivoire has been the world’s largest cashew producer. However, cashew orchards in Côte d’Ivoire are infected by fungal diseases that weaken production. And the contribution of weeds to the spread of these diseases is not yet understood. this study was initiated with the aim of establishing the role of weeds in the proliferation of pathogenic fungi in orchards. It consisted of a survey of weeds showing disease symptoms in cashew orchards in Côte d’Ivoire from February 2021 to July 2022. the itinerant method was used for the weed inventory. Symptomatic leaves were collected and sent to the laboratory for diagnosis on PDA (Potatoes Dextrose Agar) medium. In total, 50 species in 46 genera and 23 families were recorded. Laboratory diagnosis of the samples showed that 80% of the weeds identified harboured pathogenic fungi. the highest infection rates were obtained on Danielia oliveri R. (99.33% to 100%), Vitellaria paradoxa G. (100%), Pterocarpus erinaceus P. (83.91% to 99.33%), Micuna pruriens L. (98.33% to 100%) and Isoberlinia doka C. et S. (56.33% to 100%). the diagnosis revealed the presence of Lasiodiplodia sp, Colletotrichum sp, Pestalotia sp, Alternaria sp and Curvularia sp on weeds in the cashew orchard in Côte d’Ivoire.

Ileal perforation of typhus origin is a common and serious complication of typhoid fever in tropical environments. It is one of the main causes of morbidity in surgery in Mali. However, it would be preventable if salmonellosis were properly managed upstream, and if our living environments were cleaned up. the purpose of this study is to report on the experience of the Kati UHC General Surgery Department in the management of peritonitis by typhic perforation and to assess its prognosis. Patients and Method: this is a retrospective descriptive study that took place from January 2007 to December 2020 in the General Surgery department of the Hospitalo-University BSS Center of Kati (Mali). We have included patients who have undergone peritonitis with confirmed typhic ileal perforation with laparotomy. the other etiologies of peritonitis by ileal perforation were not retained. Results: In 14 years, we collected 89 cases of peritonitis by typhic ileal perforation. It accounted for 3.14% (89/2829) of surgical procedures, 37.5% (89/1181) of visceral surgical emergencies and 27.6% (89/322) of all acute peritonitis causes combined. there were 70 men against 29 women;the sex ratio was 2.4 with an average age of 25.8 years (extremes 8 years to 65 years). Anastomosis resetions (ileo ileal and ileocolic) predominated in 71.8% of patients. However, the ileo stoma was performed in 5.6%. A significant relationship (p 0.05) was observed between high mortality and MPI score > 26. Morbidity was 39.4% with mortality of 15.7%. the average length of stay in hospital was 12.2 days. Conclusion: typhoid ileal perforation is common in young male adolescents in visceral surgery. this pathology generates significant morbidity. However with the extension of hand washing after Ebola disease its frequency has dropped.

Activated carbon made from the shells of Ricinodendron heudelotii was used to remove the remazol black dye in aqueous solution. the results of the characterization of this carbon revealed that it is microporous, with a basic global surface (0.337 mmol/L) and a specific surface of 612 m2/g. the prepared carbon therefore has excellent adsorbent properties. Kinetic and thermodynamic studies were carried out to describe the adsorption mechanism of remazol black on this carbon. It appears from this study that the pseudo-second-order kinetic model is the best suited to describe this adsorption phenomenon with an equilibrium time of 200 min. the adsorption equilibrium study revealed that Langmuir and Freundlich models can help to describe the adsorption process. We note that the optimum pH and optimum mass for the removal of 20 mg/L of remazol black are 3 and 0.25 g, respectively. this carbon made it possible to eliminate more than 98% of the remazol dye in aqueous solution. the thermodynamic study revealed that the adsorption is of the physisorption type, spontaneous and endothermic.
