Climate has changed sufficiently over the last 150 years and forced out upper treeline advance at the most studied sites around the *** rate of advance has been extremely variable–from tens to hundreds meters in *** is because the degree at which tree frontal populations respond to climate change depends on the complex interaction of biological and physical *** resulting stand pattern is the consequence of the interaction between dispersal and survival functions.A few publications have addressed the question of how this pattern is *** order to understand how the spatial structure of tree stands was formed at the upper limit of their distribution in the Ural Mountains,we assessed the distance and direction of dispersal of offspring from maternal *** found that in frontal Larix sibirica ***,‘effective’dispersal of offspring ranges from 3 to 758 m(with a median of 20–33 m in open forest and 219 m in single-tree tundra in the Polar Urals and 107 m in open forest in the Northern Urals).We revealed that most of the offspring effectively dispersed not only in the direction of the prevailing winds,but also in the opposite direction up the slope,and the distance can reach 500–760 *** data obtained can be used to develop an individual-based model which is capable of simulating in detail the dynamics of tree stands at the upper limit of their growth and reliably predicting the future position and pattern of treeline ecotone as growth conditions continue to improve in the face of observed climate change.

Protective effect of Luffa acutangula extracts on gastric ulceration in NIDDM rats:Role of gastric mucosal glycoproteins and antioxidants

Objective:to study the comparative gastroprotective effect of Luffa acutangula methanolic extract(LAM) and aqueous extract(LAW) on typeⅡdiabetes ***:Streptozotocin(65 mg/kg,Lp.) along with nicotinamide(120 mg/kg,Lp.) was used to induce non insulin dependent diabetes mellitus(NIDDM) in rats.A daily oral dose of aspirin(200 mg/kg,Lp.) was administered for initial seven days to induce gastric ulcerations in the diabetic *** and LAW were administered orally in the doses of 100,200 and 400 mg/kg once daily for 21 *** and ranitidine were used as standards for comparing the antidiabetic and antiulcer effect ***:LAM significantly(P<0.01) increased mucosal glycoprotein and antioxidant enzyme level in gastric mucosa of diabetic rats than LAW(P <0.05).LAM was efficient in reversing the delayed healing of gastric ulcer in diabetic rats close to the normal *** exhibited better ulcer healing effect than glibenclamide and LAW,because of its both antihyperglycemic and mucosal defensive ***:thus,LAM is proved to be a better alternative for treating gastric ulcers co-occurring with diabetes.

We made an elaborate scrutiny on the Soret and joule effects of MHD mixed convective flow of an incompressible and electrically conducting viscous fluid past an infinite vertical porous plate taking Hall effects into *** technique is used to solve the non-dimensional *** effects of the various non-dimensional parameters on velocity,temperature and concentration within the boundary layer are *** that,computational deliberations or discussions are also undertaken on the effects of the pertinent or significant parameters on the skin-friction coefficient and rates of heat and mass transfer in terms of the Nusselt and Sherwood numbers *** concentration distribution increases with increase in Soret effect and decrease with increase in chemical reaction *** increase in Prandtl number results to decrease the temperature *** the primary and secondary velocity components and temperature increases with increasing heat source *** friction coefficient decreases with an increase in permeability parameter,whereas it shows reverse effect for thermal and mass Grashof *** number increases with an increase in Prandtl *** number reduces with increasing Soret number.

Synthesis and photoluminescence studies of ba(Gd,Ln)b_9O_(16):Eu^(3+)(Ln=La,Y) phosphors for n-Uv LED lighting and display devices

baGdb9O16：Eu^3＋ and ba（Gd,Ln）b9O16：Eu^3＋（Ln=La, Y） phosphors were synthesized by solid state diffusion method. the X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy（SEM） and photoluminescence properties were investigated. the as-synthesized baGdb9O16：Eu^3＋ and ba（Gd,Ln）b9O16：Eu^3＋（Ln=La, Y） phosphors showed strong red emission under ultraviolet light excitation. by partially substituting Gd^3＋ by La^3＋ and Y^3＋ ions in the host baGdb9O16：Eu^3＋ materials, the maximum emission intensity was observed for the optimum composition of baGd0.91La0.8b9O16Eu0.01 phosphor. the experimental results indicated that the Eu doped baGdb9O16 and ba（Gd,Ln）b9O16（Ln=La, Y） phosphors were promising red phosphors, which might find potential applications in near-Uv excited LED lighting as well as display devices. Comparison of as-synthesized phosphors with standard phosphor used in CFL（compact fluorescent lamp） was also done. Energy transfer mechanism of Gd^3＋ to Eu^3＋ was also discussed in this paper.

Rice husk ask (RHA) is not a ultra-fine material as silica fume (SF),but possesses a very high specific surface area because of its porous structure. With the similar chemical composition of RHA and SF,the activity of RHA,therefore,is different from that of SF. the objective of this work is to study the hydration and the microstructure of Portland cement blended with RHA in comparison with SF. the test results show that SF refined the pore structure of cement paste better than RHA. However,the effect of RHA on cement hydration is more pronouned than that of SF for the mixture with low water to binder ratio.

Studies on the taxonomy and phylogeny of Diplodia have been hampered by the lack of an ex-type culture linked to the holotype of ***,which is the type of the *** this study a large collection of Diplodia strains,obtained from ash and other woody hosts showing v-shaped cankers and branch dieback,were identified based on morphological characters and DNA sequence data from ItS and EF1-α *** of combined morphological and phylogenetic analyses showed that the Fraxinus isolates from Italy,the Netherlands,Portugal and Spain belong to three distinct species namely Diplodia fraxini,Diplodia mutila and Diplodia subglobosa *** epitype was designated for Diplodia mutila,with associated ex-epitype *** name *** is re-instated and a neotype *** species,Diplodia seriata and Diplodia pseudoseriata were reported for the first time on Fraxinus spp.

this paper reports the results of the analyses of 17 different Hb variants which were observed in 37 families. High pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) was used to separate tryptic and thermolytic peptides of globin chains. the double coupling microsequencing technique can successfully be used for sequencing small or larger peptides.
