By providing a means of separating the airborne emissions of patients from the air breathed by healthcare workers(HCWs),vented individual patient(vIP)hoods,a form of local exhaust ventilation(LEv),offer a new approach to reduce hospital-acquired infection(HAI).Results from recent studies have demonstrated that,for typical patient-emitted aerosols,vIP hoods provide protection at least equivalent to that of an N95 mask.Unlike a mask,hood performance can be easily monitored and HCWs can be alerted to failure by alarms.the appropriate use of these relatively simple devices could both reduce the reliance on personal protective equipment(PPE)for infection control and provide a low-cost and energy-efficient form of protection for hospitals and clinics.Although the development and deployment of vIP hoods has been accelerated by the coronavirus disease 2019(COvID-19)pandemic,these devices are currently an immature technology.In this review,we describe the state of the art of vIP hoods and identify aspects in need of further development,both in terms of device design and the protocols associated with their use.the broader concept of individual patient hoods has the potential to be expanded beyond ventilation to the provision of clean conditions for individual patients and personalized control over other environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

We deal with the numerical solution of the compressible Euler equations with the aid of the discontinuous Galerkin(DG)method with focus on the goal-oriented error estimates and adaptivity.We analyse the adjoint consistency of the DG scheme where the adjoint problem is not formulated by the differentiation of the DG form and the target functional but using a suitable linearization of the nonlinear forms.Furthermore,we present the goal-oriented anisotropic hp-mesh adaptation method for the Euler equations.the theoretical results are supported by numerical experiments.

Retransmission avoidance is an essential need for any type of wireless communication.As retransmissions induce the unnecessary presence of redundant data in every accessible node.As storage capacity is symmetrical to the size of the memory,less storage capacity is experienced due to the restricted size of the respective node.In this proposed work,we have discussed the integration of the Energy Proficient Reduced Coverage Set with Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO).PSO is a metaheuristic global search enhancement technique that promotes the searching of the best nodes in the search space.PSO is integrated with a Reduced Coverage Set,to obtain an optimal path with only high-power transmitting nodes.Energy Proficient Reduced Coverage Set with PSO constructs a set of only best nodes based on the fitness solution,to cover the whole network.the proposed algorithm has experimented with a different number of nodes.Comparison has been made between original and improved algorithm shows that improved algorithm performs better than the existing by reducing the redundant packet transmissions by 18%~40%,thereby increasing the network lifetime.

the present paper presents the sloshing oscillation behaviour and sloshing force in three different tanks of model scales of 1:86,1:57 and 1:43.the rectangular tank is mounted on shake table,to study the scale effect of sloshing with sway excited motion.the tests are carried out for the aspect ratio(hs/l,where hs liquid depth and l is the length of the tank)of 0.1625,0.325,and 0.4875 which represents 25%,50%and 75%of liquid fill levels,respectively.Seventeen excitation frequencies ranging from 0.4566 Hz to 1.9757 Hz are considered,which covers up to the fifth sloshing mode.the sloshing oscillations occurs in the longitudinal axis when subjected to sway excitations.An experimental setup is designed and devised to measure sloshing force by the concept of ballast mass.the inertia forces are measured by load cells and sloshing oscillation time histories are measured by capacitance probes.It is found that violent sloshing is experienced for 50%filled condition irrespective of scaled tanks,excitation amplitudes and excitation frequencies.the sloshing force is maximum in 1:43 scaled tank than other scaled sloshing tanks irrespective of the excitation frequency and amplitude for 50%fill level.Based on the experimental observations and analysis of results,it is concluded that proportionate volume of water and tank size decides the severity of sloshing in the partially filled tanks.

Data ofﬂoading at the network with less time and reduced energy con-sumption are highly important for every technology.Smart applications process the data very quickly with less power consumption.As technology grows towards 5G communication architecture,identifying a solution for QoS in 5G through energy-efﬁcient computing is important.In this proposed model,we perform data ofﬂoading at 5G using the fuzziﬁcation concept.Mobile Iot devices create tasks in the network and are ofﬂoaded in the cloud or mobile edge nodes based on energy consumption.two base stations,small(SB)and macro(MB)stations,are initialized and theﬁrst tasks randomly computed.then,the tasks are pro-cessed using a fuzziﬁcation algorithm to select SB or MB in the central server.the optimization is performed using a grasshopper algorithm for improving the QoS of the 5G network.the result is compared with existing algorithms and indi-cates that the proposed system improves the performance of the system with a cost of 44.64 j for computing 250 benchmark tasks.

the increased demand for superior materials has highlighted the need of investigating the mechanical properties of composites to achieve enhanced constitutive relationships.Fiber-reinforced polymer composites have emerged as an integral part of materials development with tailored mechanical properties.However,the complexity and heterogeneity of such composites make it considerably more challenging to have precise quantification of properties and attain an optimal design of structures through experimental and computational approaches.In order to avoid the complex,cumbersome,and labor-intensive experimental and numerical modeling approaches,a machine learning(ML)model is proposed here such that it takes the microstructural image as input with a different range of Young’s modulus of carbon fibers and neat epoxy,and obtains output as visualization of the stress component S11(principal stress in the x-direction).For obtaining the training data of the ML model,a short carbon fiberfilled specimen under quasi-static tension is modeled based on 2D Representative Area Element(RAE)using finite element analysis.the composite is inclusive of short carbon fibers with an aspect ratio of 7.5that are infilled in the epoxy systems at various random orientations and positions generated using the Simple Sequential Inhibition(SSI)process.the study reveals that the pix2pix deep learning Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)model is robust enough to predict the stress fields in the composite for a given arrangement of short fibers filled in epoxy over the specified range of Young’s modulus with high accuracy.the CNN model achieves a correlation score of about 0.999 and L2 norm of less than 0.005 for a majority of the samples in the design spectrum,indicating excellent prediction capability.In this paper,we have focused on the stage-wise chronological development of the CNN model with optimized performance for predicting the full-field stress maps of the fiber-reinforced composite specimens.the development of such a robust and efficient alg
