Rare cause of ileus in the mesenteric cavity of terminal ileum:A report of three cases

Internal herniation is one of the rare reasons of intestineclog, which is hard to diagnose and usually needs anurgent surgical treatment. We report 3 patients withinternal herniation in the mesenteric cavity of theterminal ileum. Besides intestinal congestion, they alsohad peritoneal irritation. Laparotomy revealed thatherniation caused disorder in nutrition of the intestineand necrosis. the patients underwent subtotal smallintestine resection and were discharged 10, 12 and 14 dafter operation.

the design and synthesis of new calamitic benzothiazole-based liquid crystals,2-[4-（4-alkyloxybenzoyloxy）-phenyl]ben-zothiazoles are *** target compound was characterized using spectroscopic techniques,such as Ft-IR,NMR（~1H and ^（13）C）,microanalysis and *** liquid crystalline behaviours of these compounds were thoroughly examined by differential scanning calorimetry and polarizing optical microscope *** materials exhibited enantiotropic nematic phase with high thermal stability（168℃）.Smectic A phase starts to emerge as monotropic（metastable） phase from C10 member and changes into enantiotropic（stable） phase from C12 and persists up to C16 members.

A Central Atom Model is introduced and the LFG and Hsu models are modified in order to evaluate the driving force for the martensitic transformation in Fe-Mn-C and Fe-Ni-C al- *** results show that the relationship between the driving force and the yield strength of austenite at Ms temperature,σ_(0.2)~γ/M_s,fits Hsu's formula;ΔG~=2.1σ_(0.2)~γ/M_s+907 J/*** M_s temperatures of Fe-Mn-C and Fe-Ni-C alloys are also *** calculated results are in good agreement with experimental values.

Vaccinations for coronavirus disease-2019(COVID-19)have begun more than a year before,yet without specific treatments ***,critically important for human medicine(World Health Organization’s list of essential medicines),may prove pharmacologically effective for treatment and chemoprophylaxis of healthcare personnel and those at higher *** has been known since 1969 that rifampicin has a direct selective antiviral effect on viruses which have their own RNA polymerase(severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2),like the main mechanism of action of *** involves inhibition of late viral protein synthesis,the virion assembly,and the viral polymerase *** antiviral effect is dependent on the administration route,with local application resulting in higher drug concentrations at the site of viral *** would suggest also trying lung administration of rifampicin by nebulization to increase the drug’s concentration at infection sites while minimizing systemic side *** in silico studies with a computer-aided approach,found rifampicin among the most promising existing drugs that could be repurposed for the treatment of COVID-19.

Effects of a rumen protected B vitamin blend substituted for biotin upon milk production and component yield in lactating dairy cows

Results from 4 switchback field trials involving 608 cows were combined to assess the effects of a protected B vitamin blend (BVB) vs 10 mg of unprotected biotin upon milk yield (kg), fat %, protein %, fat yield (kg) and protein yield (kg) in primiparous and multiparous cows. trials consisted of 3 DHIA periods executed in the order control-test-control. Cows from 45 to 300 days in milk (DIM) at the start of the experiment that were available for all 3 periods were included in the analysis. No diet changes other than the substitution of 3 grams/cow/day of the BVB for 10 mg of biotin during the test period occurred. Results from the two control periods were compared to results obtained during the test period by individual cow using a paired t test. Results for all cows showed that the provision of the BVB resulted in increased (P t percentage (%), protein %, fat yield and protein yield. Analysis by age revealed that milk production and milk protein yield were only improved in mature cows. Milk production had a negative effect upon the magnitude of the increase in milk components. the change in milk yield was greatest in early lactation and declined with DIM. Protein % and fat % increased with DIM in mature cows, but not in first lactation cows. Differences in fat yields between test and control feeding periods did not change with DIM, but the improvement in protein yield in mature cows declined with DIM. these results indicate that the BVB provided economically important advantages throughout lactation beyond those witnessed with biotin, but expected results would vary with cow age and stage of lactation.

A NiAl- tiC composite with fine grains was prepared by mechanical alloying elemental powders and hot pressing in vacuum. the tiC particles with diameters of about 50-100nm preferentially distribute on grain boundaries and those with a mean size less than 10nm disperse uniformly throughout the grains. Compressive properties of the composite at room temperature show significantly improved ductility and strength over that of cast NiAl, and its high temperature strength is 3 to 4 times as large as that of cast NiAl.

Interleukin-1α (IL-1α) is a proinflammatory cytokine that has also been found to act as a paracrine mediator involved in the regulation of testicular functions. the present review provides an overview of the role of IL 1α in testicular physiology. Bioactive IL-1α isolated from adult rat testis was found to consist of three distinct immunoreactive protein species with apparent sizes of 45, 24 and 19 kDa. these isoforms showed bioactivity in a thymocyte proliferation and steroidogenesis assays with different biopotencies. the background of the molecular heterogeneity and processing, secretion and regulation of the isoforms of testicular IL-1α are discussed. All three isoforms have been found to be secreted into the testis tubular lumen and interstitial space. We have provided evidence that IL-1α is a paracrine factor that may be of importance in, e.g., the regulation of Leydig cell steroidogenesis. Pathophysiologically, testicular IL-1α may contribute to testicular relapse of acute lymphocytic leukemia in boys.
