the variation characteristics of bubble morphology and the thermal-physical properties of bubble boundary in the top-blown smelting furnace were explored by means of the computational fluid dynamics *** essential aspects of the fluid phase(e.g.,splashing volume,dead zone of copper slag,and gas penetration depth)were explored together with the effect of sinusoidal pulsating gas intake on the momentum-transfer performance between *** results illustrated that two relatively larger vortices and two smaller vortices appear in the bubble waist and below the lance,*** expansion of larger ones as well as the shrinking of smaller ones combine to cause the contraction of the bubble *** to the results of the case with a fixed gas injection velocity(V_(g)=58 m/s),the splashing volume and dead zone volume of the slag under the V_(g)=58+10sin(2πt)condition are reduced by 24.9%and 23.5%,respectively,where t represents the instant *** penetration depth and slag motion velocity of the latter are 1.03 and 1.31 times high-er than those of the former,respectively.

Accurate radar quantitative precipitation estimation(QPE)plays an essential role in disaster prevention and *** this paper,two deep learning-based QPE networks including a single-parameter network and a multi-parameter network are ***,a self-defined loss function(SLF)is proposed during *** dataset includes Shijiazhuang S-band dual polarimetric radar(CInRAD/SAD)data and rain gauge data within the radar’s 100-km detection range during the flood season of 2021 in north *** that the specific propagation phase shift(KDP)has a roughly linear relationship with the precipitation intensity,KDP is set to 0.5°km^(-1 )as a threshold value to divide all the rain data(AR)into a heavy rain(HR)and light rain(LR)***,12 deep learning-based QPE models are trained according to the input radar parameters,the precipitation datasets,and whether an SLF was adopted,*** results suggest that the effects of QPE after distinguishing rainfall intensity are better than those without distinguishing,and the effects of using SLF are better than those that used MSE as a loss function.A Z-R relationship and a ZH-KDP-R synthesis method are compared with deep learning-based *** mean relative errors(MRE)of AR models using SLF are improved by 61.90%,51.21%,and 56.34%compared with the Z-R relational method,and by 38.63%,42.55%,and 47.49%compared with the synthesis ***,the models are further evaluated in three precipitation processes,which manifest that the deep learning-based models have significant advantages over the traditional empirical formula methods.

the nonproportional multiaxial ratchetting of cast AZ91 magnesium (Mg) alloy was examined by performing a sequence of axial-torsional cyclic tests controlled by stress with various loading paths at room temperature (Rt).the evolutionary characteristics and path dependence of multiaxial ratchetting were *** illustrate that the cast AZ91 Mg alloy exhibits considerable nonproportional additional softening during cyclic loading with multiple nonproportional multiaxial loading paths;multiaxial ratchetting presents strong path dependence,and axial ratchetting strains are larger under nonproportional loading paths than under uniaxial and proportional45°linear loading paths;multiaxial ratchetting becomes increasingly pronounced as the applied stress amplitude and axial mean stress ***,stress-strain curves show a convex and symmetrical shape in axial/torsional *** ratchetting exhibits quasi-shakedown after certain loading *** abundant experimental data obtained in this work can be used to develop a cyclic plasticity model of cast Mg alloys.

Power grids,due to their lack of network redundancy and structural interdependence,are particularly vulnerable to cascading failures,a phenomenon where a few failed nodes—having their loads exceeding their capacities—can trigger a widespread collapse of all ***,we extend the cascading failure(Motter-Lai)model to a more realistic perspective,where each node’s load capacity is determined to be nonlinearly correlated with the node’s *** analysis encompasses a range of synthetic networks featuring small-world or scale-free properties,as well as real-world network configurations like the IEEE bus systems and the US power *** find that fine-tuning this nonlinear relationship can significantly enhance a network’s robustness against cascading failures when the network nodes are under ***,the selection of initial nodes and the attack strategies also impact overall network *** findings offer valuable insights for improving the safety and resilience of power grids,bringing us closer to understanding cascading failures in a more realistic context.

the aging prediction of railway catenary is of profound significance for ensuring the regular operation of electrified ***,in real-world scenarios,accurate predictions are challenging due to various *** paper addresses this challenge by proposing a novel method for predicting the aging of railway catenary based on an improved Kalman filter(KF).the proposed method focuses on modifying the priori state estimate covariance and measurement error covariance of the KF to enhance accuracy in complex *** comparing the optimal displacement value with the theoretically calculated value based on the thermal expansion effect of metals,it becomes possible to ascertain the aging status of the *** improve prediction accuracy,a railway catenary aging prediction model is constructed by integrating the takagi-Sugeno(t-S)fuzzy neural network(Fnn)and *** this model,an adaptive training method is introduced,allowing the Fnn to use fewer fuzzy *** inputs of the model include time,temperature,and historical displacement,while the output is the predicted ***,the KF is enhanced by modifying its prior state estimate covariance and measurement error *** modifications contribute to more accurate ***,a low-power experimental platform based on FPGA is implemented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed *** test results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms the compared method,showcasing its superior performance.

Microplastics may reduce the fish bioaccumulation of organic pollutants

Microplastics have frequently been regarded as a threat to aquatic organisms due to their potential to enhance the accessibility of organic pollutants. However, studies of microplastics as “carriers” in the process of bioaccumulation have only been conducted on a few organic contaminants. In this study, we employed machine learning algorithms to predict the sorption capacity of 83 exogenous organic pollutants(in CCL4) on microplastics, the prediction model exhibits exceptional predictive performance,achieving R2values of 0.8651 and 0.6962, RMSE values of 0.4625 and 0.1841 for the sorption coefficients Kfand n, respectively,and quantitatively estimated the contribution of microplastics to the bioaccumulation levels of organic pollutants in Gadus morhua. By considering both natural and microplastic-ingesting pathways, we demonstrated that the ingestion of microplastics containing organic pollutants facilitates the entry of organic pollutants into Gadus morhua. However, due to their robust sorption capacity, microplastics transport the organic pollutants accumulated through the natural pathway out of the fish, thereby preventing bioaccumulation. these findings elucidate the “cleaning” mechanism of microplastics concerning various organic pollutants in aquatic organisms, providing valuable insights for accurately assessing the risk of microplastics in aquatic environments.

Optimization algorithms play a pivotal role in enhancing the performance and efficiency of systems across various scientific and engineering *** enhance the performance and alleviate the limitations of the northern Goshawk Optimization(nGO)algorithm,particularly its tendency towards premature convergence and entrapment in local optima during function optimization processes,this study introduces an advanced Improved northern Goshawk Optimization(InGO)*** algorithm incorporates a multifaceted enhancement strategy to boost operational ***,a tent chaotic map is employed in the initialization phase to generate a diverse initial population,providing high-quality feasible ***,after the first phase of the nGO’s iterative process,a whale fall strategy is introduced to prevent premature convergence into local *** is followed by the integration of t-distributionmutation strategies and the State transition Algorithm(StA)after the second phase of the nGO,achieving a balanced synergy between the algorithm’s exploitation and *** research evaluates the performance of InGO using 23 benchmark functions alongside the IEEE CEC 2017 benchmark functions,accompanied by a statistical analysis of the *** experimental outcomes demonstrate InGO’s superior achievements in function optimization ***,its applicability in solving engineering design problems was verified through simulations on Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)trajectory planning issues,establishing InGO’s capability in addressing complex optimization challenges.

Copper is relatively low cost and highly abundant compared with the well-studied noble metals such as gold and ***,the poor plasmonic and high susceptibility towards oxidation limit the study of its optical properties and applications as ***,copper nanoparticles@polycarbonate(Cu@PC)composites were prepared by using a facile one-step solvothermal *** Cu@PC composites have strong localized surface plasmon resonances(LSPR)due to that the PC shell can induce the particles to form many-particles system with different particle numbers,which not only lead to overlap and hybridize of the LSPR modes,but also shift the LSPR away from the interband transitions,and the PC layer also prevents the oxidation of Cu *** photothermal conversion efficiency of Cu@PC composites reaches 41.1%under 808 nm continuous wave(Cw)laser irradiation which is higher than previously reported Cu nanomaterials that have been ***,the composites also have high photothermal ***,interfacial evaporator is prepared by assembling the Cu@PC composites on scouring sponge as light absorption layer which has>92.8%absorption in entire solar spectrum *** seawater evaporation rate is 3.177 kg·m^(-2)·h^(-1)with a E_(evaporator)/E_(water)of *** high evaporation rate interfacial evaporator with low cost,simple,and scalable approach shows great application value in the field of photothermal evaporation.

Organic ferroelastic enantiomers with high tc and large dielectric switching ratio triggered by order-disorder and displacive phase transition

Molecular-based ferroelastics with dielectric switching properties are highly desirable for their applications on microelectronic dielectric switches,sensors,data storage,and so ***,the current reports mostly focus on organic-inorganic hybrids containing toxic heavy metal atoms,and the relatively low phase transition temperature limits their *** this paper,low-toxic organic salt ferroelastic enantiomers(R/S)-4-fluoro-1-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octonium chloride[(R/S)-F-321]were designed and synthesized under the introducing chirality *** undergo a 432F422-type ferroelastic phase transition with a high Curie temperature(tc)of 470 K,simultaneously exhibiting excellent dielectric switching *** addition to the ordered-disordered movement of cations,the significant displacement of anions is also responsible for such high tc and large dielectric switching ratios,which is very rare in molecular-based switching *** work enriches the development of molecular ferroelastic switching materials and gives inspiration for the exploration of environmentally friendly high tc organic salt ferroelastics with prominent switching performances.

Due to the mutual repulsion between their hydrophilic surface terminations and the high surface energy facilitating their ran-dom restacking,2D MXene nanosheets usually cannot self-assemble into 3D macroscopic gels with various applications in the absence of proper linking *** this work,a rapid spontaneous gelation of ti3C2tx MXene with a very low dispersion concentration of 0.5 mg mL^(-1) into multifunctional architectures under moderate centrifugation is *** as-prepared MXene gels exhibit reconfigurable internal structures and tunable rheological,tribological,electrochemical,infrared-emissive and photothermal-conversion properties based on the pH-induced changes in the surface chemistry of ti_(3)C_(2)t_(x) *** adopting a gel with optimized pH value,high lubrication,exceptional specific capacitances(~635 and~408 F g^(-1) at 5 and 100 mV s^(-1),respectively),long-term capacitance retention(~96.7%after 10,000 cycles)and high-precision screen-or extrusion-printing into different high-resolution anticounterfeiting patterns can be achieved,thus displaying extensive potential applications in the fields of semi-solid lubrication,control-lable devices,supercapacitors,information encryption and infrared camouflaging.
