Microstructure of Nitrided Aluminum Alloys Using an Electron-Beam-Excited-Plasma (EBEP)

Nitriding of surface of aluminum alloys was carried out with using an electron-beam-excited-plasma (EBEP) technique. the EBEP is sustained by electron impact ionization with energetic electron beam. two kinds of substrates, aluminum alloys AA5052 and AA5083, were exposed to the down flow of EBEP source at 843 K for 45min. the specimens were characterized with respect to following properties: crystallographic structure (XRD), morphology (SEM) and the cross sectional microstructures of the nitrided layer was observed using a scanning electron microscopy (SEM). there are some A12O3 particles on the surface of the nitrided AA5052 and AA5083. the A1N layers were formed on the substrates with the thickness of 4.5 fi m for AA5052 and 0.5 /z m for AA5083 . A relatively uniform nitrided surface layer composed of A1N can be observed on the AA5052 substrate. the grains size near the interfaces between the substrate and A1N layer were smaller than that near the surface. On the surface of A1N layer, the concentration of nitrogen was high and in the middle of A1N layer it had a constant concentration like the aluminum and the concentration was decreased with approaching to the interface. On the surface of nitrided AA5083, a uniform A1N layer was not formed as the reason for the high nitriding temperature.

Genetic predisposition to Helicobacter pylori-induced gastric precancerous conditions

Gastric cancer is the most common malignancy of the gastrointestinal tract in East Asian populations and the second most frequent cause of cancer-related mortality in the world. While previous studies have investigated the genetic factors involved in gastric carcinogenesis, there still exist relatively few studies that have investigated the genetic traits associated with the risk of gastric precancerous conditions. In this paper we will review the biology and genetic polymorphisms involved in the genesis of gastric precancerous conditions reported to date and discuss the future prospects of this field of study. the associations of gastric precancerous conditions with polymorphisms in the cytotoxin-associated gene A-related genes (e.g. PtPN11 G/A at intron 3, rs2301756), those in the genes involved in host immunity against Helico-bacter pylori (H. pylori) infection (***4 +3725G/C, rs11536889) or polymorphisms of the genes essential for the development/ differentiation of the gastric epithelial cells (e.g. RUNX3 t/A polymorphism at intron 3, rs760805) have been reported to date. Genetic epide-miological studies of the associations between H. pylori-induced gastric precancerous conditions and other gene polymorphisms in these pathways as well as polymor-phisms of the genes involved in other pathways like oxidative DNA damage repair pathways would provide useful evidence for the individualized prevention of these H. pylori-induced gastric precancerous conditions.

Identification of the precise molecular pathways involved in oncogene-induced transformation may help us gain a better understanding of tumor initiation and promotion. Here, we demonstrate that SOX2^+ foregut epithelial cells are prone to oncogenic transformation upon mutagenic insults, such as Kras^G12D and p53 deletion. GFP-based lineage-tracing experiments indicate that SOX2^+ cells are the cells-of-origin of esophagus and stomach hyperplasia. Our observations indicate distinct roles for oncogenic KRAS mutation and P53 deletion. p53 homozygous deletion is required for the acquisition of an invasive potential, and Kras^G12D expression, but not p53 deletion, suffices for tumor formation. Global gene expression analysis reveals secreting factors upregulated in the hyperplasia induced by oncogenic KRAS and highlights a crucial role for the CXCR2 pathway in driving hyperplasia. Collectively, the array of genetic models presented here demonstrate that stratified epithelial cells are susceptible to oncogenic insults, which may lead to a better understanding of tumor initiation and aid in the design of new cancer therapeutics.

AIM: to examine whether the sedative effects assessed by psychomotor tests would depend on the cytochrome P450 (CYP ) 2C19 genotypes after an infusion regimen of diazepam commonly used forgastrointestinal endoscopy in Japan. MEtHODS: Fifteen healthy Japanese volunteers consisting of three different CYP2C19 genotype groups underwent a critical ? icker fusion test, an eye movement analysis and a postural sway test as a test for physical sedative effects, and a visual analog scale (VAS) symptom assessment method as a test for mental sedative effects during the 336 h period after the intravenous infusion of diazepam (5 mg). RESULtS: the physical sedative effects assessed by the critical flicker test continued for 1 h (t values of 5 min, 30 min and 60 min later: 4.35, 5.00 and 3.19, respectively) and those by the moving radial area of a postural sway test continued for 3 h (t values of 5 h, 30 h, 60 min and 3 h later: -4.05, -3.42, -2.17 and -2.58, respectively), which changed significantly compared with the baseline level before infusion (P the other hand, the mental sedative effects by the VAS method improved within 1 h. the CYP2C19 genotype-dependent differences in the postinfusion sedative effects were not observed in any of the four psychomotor function tests. CONCLUSION: With the psychomotor tests, the objective sedative effects of diazepam continued for 1 h to 3 h irrespective of CYP2C19 genotype status and the subjective sedative symptoms improved within 1 h. Up to 3 h of clinical care appears to be required after the infusion of diazepam, although patients feel subjectively improved.

目的　评价单平面Simpson法计算右心室容积的可行性。方法　采用toshiba多层螺旋Ct对 15个人的右心室铸型进行扫描 ,然后沿右心室长轴重建出右心室矢状面的多平面重组(multiplanarreformattedimage ,MPR)图像 ,采用单平面Simpson法对右心室铸型的容积进行计算。右心室铸型的实际容积采用阿基米德原理计算。结果　右室铸型的实际容积为 (6 4 .2 3± 2 4 .5 1)ml,单平面Simpson法右心室容积计算值为 (5 3.18± 2 6 .2 2 )ml,平均低估右心室实际容积 (11.0 5± 13.0 9)ml(t=3.2 7,P =0 .0 0 6 )。单平面Simpson法计算的右心室容积值与右室铸型的实际容积显著相关 (r=0 86 9,P <0 .0 0 1)。结论　单平面Simpson方法可以用于右心室容积的计算。
