Olive fruits infested with olive fly larvae respond with an ethylene burst and the emission of specific volatiles

Olive fly（Bactrocera oleae R.） is the most harmful insect pest of olive（Olea europaea L.） which strongly affects fruits and oil production. Despite the expanding economic importance of olive cultivation, up to now, only limited information on plant responses to B. oleae is available. Here,we demonstrate that olive fruits respond to B. oleae attack by producing changes in an array of different defensive compounds including phytohormones, volatile organic compounds（VOCs）, and defense proteins. Bactrocera oleaeinfested fruits induced a strong ethylene burst and transcript levels of several putative ethylene-responsive transcription factors became significantly upregulated. Moreover, infested fruits induced significant changes in the levels of 12-oxophytodienoic acid and C12 derivatives of the hydroperoxide lyase. the emission of VOCs was also changed quantitatively and qualitatively in insect-damaged fruits, indicating that *** larval feeding can specifically affect the volatile blend offruits. Finally, we show that larval infestation maintained high levels of trypsin protease inhibitors in ripe fruits, probably by affecting post-transcriptional mechanisms. Our results provide novel and important information to understand the response of the olive fruit to B. oleae attack; information that can shed light onto potential new strategies to combat this pest.

PGE and isotopic characteristics of Shergol and Suru Valley Ophiolites,Western Ladakh:Implications for supra-subduction tectonics along Indus Suture Zone

Present study reports the PGE-geochemistry of mantle peridotites and Nd-isotope geochemistry of arc related mafic rocks from the Indus Suture Zone(ISZ),western *** total PGE concentration of the Shergol and Suru Valley peridotites(∑PGE=96-180 ppb)is much higher than that of the primitive mantle and global ophiolitic mantle *** studied peridotites show concave upward PGE-distribution patterns with higher palladium-group PGE/Iridium-group PGE ratios(i.e.,0.8-2.9)suggesting that the partial melting is not the sole factor responsible for the evolution of these *** observed PGE-distribution patterns are distinct from residual/refractory mantle peridotites,which have concave downward or flat PGE-distribution *** enrichment of palladium-group PGE as well as other whole-rock incompatible elements(e.g.,LILE and LREE)and higher Pd/Ir ratio(1.1-5.9)reflects that these peridotites have experienced fluid/melt interaction in a supra-subduction zone(SSZ)tectonic ***,the Shergol mafic intrusives and Dras mafic volcanics,associated with the studied peridotites,have high^(143)Nd/^(144)Nd ratios(i.e.,0.512908-0.513078 and 0.512901-0.512977,respectively)and positiveε_(Nd)(t)(calculated for t=140 Ma)values(i.e.,+5.3 to+8.6 and+5.1 to+6.6,respectively),indicating derivation from depleted mantle sources within an intra-oceanic arc setting,similar to Spongtang and Nidar ophiolites from other parts of Ladakh *** transition from SSZ-type Shergol and Suru Valley peridotites to Early Cretaceous tholeiitic Shergol mafic intrusives followed by tholeiitic to calc-alkaline Dras mafic volcanics within the Neo-tethys Ocean exhibit characteristics of subduction initiation mechanism analogous to the Izu-Bonin-Mariana arc system within western Pacific.

StEP-based Feature Recognition System for B-spline Surface Features

the geometrical and topological information of 3D computer aided design （CAD） models should be represented as a neut- ral format file to exchange the data between different CAD systems. Exchange of 3D CAD model data implies that the companies must exchange complete information about their products, all the way from design, manufacturing to inspection and shipping. this informa- tion should be available to each relevant partner over the entire life cycle of the product. this led to the development of an international standard organization （ISO） neutral format file named as standard for the exchange of product model data （StEP）. It has been ob- served from the literature, the feature recognition systems developed were identified as planar, cylindrical, conical and to some extent spherical and toroidal surfaces. the advanced surface features such as B-spline and its subtypes are not identified. therefore, in this work, a StEP-based feature recognition system is developed to recognize t--spline surface features and its sub-types from the 3D CAD model represented in AP203 neutral file format. the developed feature recognition system is implemented in Java programming language and the product model data represented in StEP AP203 format is interpreted through Java standard data access interface （JSDAI）. the developed system could recognize B-spline surface features such as B-Spline surface with knots, quasi uniform surface, uniform surface, rational surface and Bezier surface. the application of extracted B-spline surface features information is discussed with reference to the toolpath generation for StEP-NC （StEP AP238）.

Annually,10%of cirrhotic patients with ascites develop refractory ascites for which large-volume paracentesis(LVP)is a frequently used therapeutic ***,although a safe method,is associated with circulatory dysfunction in a significant percentage of patients,which is termed para-centesis-induced circulatory dysfunction(PICD).PICD results in faster reaccumulation of ascites,hyponatremia,renal impairment,and shorter *** is diagnosed through laboratory results,with increases of>50%of baseline plasma renin activity to a value≥4 ng/mL/h on the fifth to sixth day after *** this review,we discuss the pathophysi-ology and prevention of PICD.

Adaptive Signal Enhancement Unit for EEG Analysis in Remote Patient Care Monitoring Systems

In this paper we propose an efcient process of physiological artifact elimination methodology from brain waves(BW),which are also commonly known as electroencephalogram(EEG)*** a clinical environment during the acquisition of BW several artifacts contaminates the actual BW *** leads to inaccurate and ambiguous *** the statistical nature of the EEG signal is more non-stationery,adaptive ltering is the more promising method for the process of artifact *** clinical conditions,the conventional adaptive techniques require many numbers of computational operations and leads to data samples overlapping and instability of the algorithm *** causes delay in diagnosis and decision *** overcome this problem in our work we propose to set a threshold value to diminish the problem of round off *** resultant adaptive algorithm based on this strategy is Non-linear Least mean square(NL2MS)***,to improve this algorithm in terms of ltering capability we perform data normalization,using this algorithm several hybrid versions are developed to improve ltering and reduce computational *** the method,a new signal enhancement unit(SEU)is realized and performance of various hybrid versions of algorithms examined using real EEG signals recorded from the *** ability of the proposed schemes is measured in terms of convergence,enhancement and multiplications *** various SEUs,the MCN2L 2MS algorithm achieves 14.6734,12.8732,10.9257,15.7790 dB during the artifact removal of RA,EMG,CSA and EBA components with only two ***,this algorithm seems to be better candidate for artifact elimination.

Spatial distribution characteristics and mechanism of nonhydrological time-variable gravity in China's Mainland

the purpose of this study is to explore nonhydrological mass transfer in China's *** this purpose,gravity recovery and climate experiment(GRACE)data were obtained to study the spatial distribution of time variant gravity signals in China's ***,from auxiliary hydrological data processed according to the current hydrological model,a new more comprehensive hydrological model of China's Mainland was ***,the time variant signals of this new hydrological model were removed from the time variant gravity field computed from GRACE data,thus obtaining a description of the nonhydrological mass transfer of China's *** physical sources and mechanisms of the resulting mass transfer are then *** improved,more realistic,hydrological model used here was created by selecting the hydrological components with the best correlations in existing hydrological models,by use of correlation calculation,analysis,and *** improved model includes water in soils and deeper strata,in the vegetation canopy,in lakes,snow,and glaciers,and in other water components(mainly reservoir storage,swamps,and rivers).the spatial distribution of the transfer signals due to nonhydrological mass in China's Mainland was obtained by subtracting the combined hydrological model from the GRACE time-variable gravity *** results show that the nonhydrological signals in China's Mainland collected in GRACE data were mainly positive signals,and were distributed in the Bohai Rim and the northern and eastern parts of the tibetan *** above nonhydrological mass transfer signals have been studied further and are *** results show that the nonhydrological mass migration signals in the Bohai Rim region originate primarily from sea level change and marine sediment *** mass accumulation from Indian plate collision in the tibetan Plateau appears to be the main reason for the increase in the residual gravity field in that region.

Evaluating location specific strain rates, temperatures,and accumulated strains in friction welds through microstructure modeling

A microstructural simulation method is adopted to predict the location specific strain rates, temperatures, grain evolution, and accumulated strains in the Inconel 718 friction welds. Cellular automata based 2D microstructure model was developed for Inconel 718 alloy using theoretical aspects of dynamic recrystallization. Flow curves were simulated and compared with experimental results using hot deformation parameter obtained from literature work. Using validated model, simulations were performed for friction welds of Inconel 718 alloy generated at three rotational speed i.e., 1200, 1500, and1500 RPM. Results showed the increase in strain rates with increasing rotational speed. these simulated strain rates were found to match with the analytical results. temperature difference of 150 K was noticed from center to edge of the weld. At all the rotational speeds, the temperature was identical implying steady state temperature(0.89 t_m) attainment.

A Green Approach towards the Synthesis of Enantio Pure Diols Using Horse Radish Peroxidase Enzyme Immobilized on Magnetic Nanoparticles

Enantiopure epoxides and their corresponding chiral vicinal diols serve as valuable intermediates in the synthesis of biologically active pharma and agro-compounds and also value added fine chemicals. Biocatalysts are well known for their selective hydrolysis of racemic epoxides to give optically pure chiral diols. this study highlights an efficient process of synthesis of chiral vicinal diols in good yields and enantioselectiviy using horse radish peroxidase enzyme immobilized on the amine functionalized magnetic nano particles (Fe3O4 nanoparticles) as enzyme carriers. It also facilitates separation of MNP-immobilized enzymes by applying external magnetic field. the immobilization of magnetic nano particles was confirmed by transmission electron microscope (tEM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). the MNP-immobilized peroxidase enzyme improved stability of the enzyme and has shown broader substrate specificity in enantioselective hydrolysis of racemic epoxides, under mild and environmentally friendly conditions. the methodology MNP-immobilized enzyme developed in the synthesis of chiral diols has a potential for use in large-scale applications.

Experimental Studies on the Self-Shielding Effect in Fissile Fuel Breeding Measurement in thorium Oxide Pellets Irradiated with 14 MeV Neutrons

the 14 MeV neutrons produced in the D-t fusion reactions have the potential of breeding Uranium-233 fissile fuel from fertile material thorium-232. In order to estimate the amount of U-233 produced, experiments are carried out by irradiating thorium dioxide pellets with neutrons produced from a 14 MeV neutron generator. the objective of the present work is to measure the reaction rates of 232th ＋ in --＊ 233th --＊ 2a^Pa --＊ 2a3U in different pellet thicknesses to study the self-shielding effects and adopt a procedure for correction. An appropriate assembly consisting of high-density polyethylene is designed and fabricated to slow down the high-energy neutrons, in which thorium pellets are irradiated. the amount of fissile fuel （~3~U） produced is estimated by measuring the 312 keV gammas emitted by Protactinium-233 （half-life of 27 days）. A calibrated High Purity Germanium （HPGe） detector is used to measure the gamma ray spectrum. the amount of 233U produced by th232 （n, ~） is calculated using MCNP code. the self-shielding effect is evaluated by calculating the reaction rates for different foil thickness. MCNP calculation results are compared with the experimental values and appropriate correction factors are estimated for self-shielding of neutrons and absorption of gamma rays.
