Aggregation is one of the many important processes in chemical and process engineering. Several researchers have attempted to understand this complex process in fluidized beds using the macro-model of population balance equations （PBEs）. the aggregation kernel is an effective parameter in PBEs, and is defined as the product of the aggregation efficiency and collision frequency functions. Attempts to derive this kernel have taken different approaches, including theoretical, experimental, and empirical techniques. the present paper calculates the aggregation kernel using micro-model computer simulations, i.e., a discrete particle model. We simulate the micro-model without aggregation for various initial conditions, and observe that the collision frequency function is in good agreement with the shear kernel. We then simulate the micro-model with aggregation and calculate the aggregation efficiency rate.

A New Species of Japalura(Squamata, Agamidae) from the Nu River Valley in Southern Hengduan Mountains, Yunnan, China

A population of Japalura from Yunnan Province, China, previously assigned to Japalura splendida, is described as a new species. the new species has been recorded between 1 138–2 500 m in the Nu River drainage between the towns of Liuku and Binzhongluo, and on the lower western slopes of the Nushan and eastern slopes of the Goaligongshan. the new species can be distinguished from other species of Japalura, except J. dymondi, by the following combination of characters： exposed tympani, prominent dorso-lateral stripes, and small gular scales. It is very similar with but differs from J. dymondi by having smooth or feebly keeled dorsal head scales, three relatively enlarged spines on either side of the post-occiput area, strongly keeled and mucronate scales on occiput area and within the lateral stripes, back of arm and leg green, higher number of dorsal-ridge scales（DS） and fourth toe subdigital scales（t4S）. A principal component analysis of body measurements of adult male specimens of the new species and J. dymondi showed principal component 1 loading highest for upper arm length, fourth toe length and snout to eye length and principal component 2 loading highest for head width, head length and fourth toe length.

AIM:to evaluate the outcomes of pars plana vitrectomy(PPV) without the use of an ocular tamponade in patients having tractional retinal detachment(tRD) secondary to proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR).MEtHODS:It was an interventional study conducted at the Department of Ophthalmology,***,Bahawalpur,Pakistan,from July 2011 to July 2012.A total of 75 patients(84 eyes) having tRD secondary to PDR were treated by PPV without using an ocular *** patients included in the study had a tractional retinal detachement secondary to proliferative diabetic retinopathy but didn’t have or develop retinal breaks before or during the study *** surgical procedure included a PPV combined with the removal of the tractional retinal membranes and the application of endolaser photocoagulation to the *** mean follow-up period was 12 months. RESULtS:Successful retinal reattachement was observed in 78 of the operated eyes(92.8%).In these patients,the retina remained attached till the end of the one year follow-up *** in best corrected visual acuity(BCVA) was seen in 63 eyes(75%).the visual acuity remained unchanged in 9 eyes(10.7%).Mean improvement in BCVA was 2.00 +1.24 at baseline to 1.24+1.22(P<0.05) at the end of the followup ***:In the absence of the retinal breaks,a tRD secondary to PDR can be successfully treated by pars plana vitrectomy without the use of an ocular tamponade.

An efficient and promising approach for effectively dispersing multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MWCNts)in cementitious composites has been *** naturally occurring organic extracts from species of indigenously known‘Keekar’trees scattered along tropical and sub-tropical regions;is found as an exceptional replacement to the non-natural commercial *** the initial phase of investigation,ideal surfactant’s content required for efficient dispersion of MWCNts in solution was determined using ultra-violet *** experimental investigations were then extended to five different cement composite formulations containing 0.0,0.025,0.05,0.08 and 0.10%MWCNts by weight of *** was observed that the natural surfactant produced efficient dispersion at much reduced cost(approx.14%)compared with the commercial *** estimated weight efficiency factor f was found 6.5 times higher for the proposed sustainable replacement to the conventional along with remarkable increase of 23%in modulus of rupture on 0.08 wt%addition of *** strength enhancement,the dispersed MWCNts also improved the first crack and ultimate fracture toughness by 51.5%and 35.9%,*** field emission scanning electron microscopy of the cryofractured samples revealed efficient dispersion of MWCNts in the matrix leading to the phenomenon of effective crack bridging and crack branching in the composite ***,the proposed scheme significantly reduced the early age volumetric shrinkage by 39%.

the emergence of vitrimer,a new class of polymer materials can address the problem of recyclability,reprocess ability and recyclability of thermosetting ***,a natural product,is an ideal raw material for the preparation of polymers in a more sustainable ***,due to the huge steric hindrance caused by the hydrogenated phenanthrene ring structure,the cross-link density of materials is frequently *** this study,hydrogenated rosin was adopted for preparing hydrogenated rosin side-chain type diacids,which were reacted with mixed epoxy to obtain rosin side-chain type *** was completely characterized by differential scanning calorimetry test,thermogravimetric analysis,shape memory test and self-healing *** prepared vitrimers exhibited good self-healing properties,excellent heat resistance(t_(d)=352℃)as well as high mechanical properties(tensile strength of 46.75 MPa).the tricyclic diterpene structure of rosin was introduced into the side chain in order to avoid the reduction of cross-link density resulting from the huge steric hindrance of the rigid tricyclic hydrophenylene *** can undergo dynamic transesterification reaction without external catalysts due to the autocatalytic effect of tertiary amines from ***,our work expanded the application field of rosin,increased the added value of rosin,and provided a novel method for preparing rosin-based vitrimers with ideal properties.
