Effect of tool rotational speed on the particle distribution in friction stir welding of AA6092/17.5 SiCp-t6 composite plates and its consequences on the mechanical property of the joint

this study investigates the effect of tool rotational speed(tRS)on particle distribution in nugget zone(NZ)through quantitative approach and its consequences on the mechanical property of friction stir welded joints of AA6092/17.5 SiCp-t6 composite.6 mm thick plates are welded at a constant tool tilt angle of 2°and tool traverse speed of 1 mm/s by varying the tRS at 1000 rpm,1500 rpm and 2000 rpm with a taper pin profiled *** analysis shows large quantity of uniformly shaped smaller size SiC particle with lower average particle area which are homogeneously distributed in the *** fragmentation of bigger size particles has been observed because of abrading action of the hard tool and resulting shearing effect and severe stress generation due to the rotation of *** particles occupy maximum area in the matrix compared to that of the base material(BM)due to the redistribution of broken particles as an effect of *** migration of particles towards the tMAZ-NZ transition zone has been also encountered at higher tRS(2000 rpm).the microhardness analysis depicts variation in average hardness from top to bottom of the NZ,minimum for 1500 rpm and maximum for 2000 *** impact strength at 1000 rpm and 1500 rpm remains close to that of BM(21.6 J)while 2000 rpm shows the accountable *** maximum joint efficiency has been achieved at 1500 rpm(84%)and minimum at 1000 rpm(68%)under tensile *** analysis shows mixed mode of failure for BM,1000 rpm and 1500 rpm,whereas 2000 rpm shows the brittle mode of failure.

Background:Red blood cell transfusions are critical in burn *** subsequent iron overload that can occur from this treatment can lead to secondary hemochromatosis with multi-organ *** Presentation:While well recognized in patients receiving chronic transfusions,we present a case outlining the acute development of hemochromatosis secondary to multiple transfusions in a burn ***:Simple screening laboratory measures and treatment options exist which may significantly reduce morbidity;thus,we believe awareness of secondary hemochromatosis in those treating burn patients is critical.

Applicability of unique scarf joint configuration in friction stir welding of AA6061-t6:Analysis of torque,force,microstructure and mechanical properties

the present research introduces a unique concept of scarf joint technique in friction stir welding(FSW) of aluminum alloy AA 6061-t6 plates and an investigation on weld quality.A new joint configuration with two distinct scarf angles(75°and 60°) was considered in this *** various aspects of welding were compared with contemporary simple square butt(SSB) joint *** was carried out at a constant tool rotation speed(tRS),tool traverse speed(ttS) and tool tilt angle of 1100 rpm,2 mm/s and2°,*** results are analyzed in terms of force and torque distribution,microstructure,macrostructure,and mechanical property perspective for different joint *** study reveals the minimum amount of force and torque at 60°scarf angle joint configuration compared to that of square butt joint *** study shows that all the joints were defect-free,and a prominent onion ring was present in the lower portion of the weld nugget(WN).Fine equiaxed grains with a minimum average grain size diameter of 6.82 μm were obtained in the WN of scarf joint configuration(SJC).the maximum ultimate tensile strength(UtS) and maximum average NZ hardness of 267 MPa and83.82 HV0.1were obtained in SJC3 at a scarf angle of 60°.It has been observed from the investigation that the joint efficiency increases from 72.5%(SSB) to 86%(SJC3) at a 60° scarf *** unique characteristic may lay an impetus on probable joint strength enhancement technique without increasing the production cost.

Effect of Zn Concentration on Microstructural,Optical,and Hyperfine Properties of Nanocrystalline a-Fe_(2)O_(3)

Efforts have been made to prepare nanocomposites of a-Fe2O3-ZnO by wet chemical route with varying concentrations of the *** microstructural properties of the samples are investigated by powder X-ray diffractometry（PXRD） and transmission electron *** concentration of Zn ions（up to 20 at%） leads to the formation of nanocomposites of a-Fe2O3 and *** of ZnFe2O4 phase is detected by the substitution of higher concentration of Zn2？（30 at%） in the *** average size of the nanoparticles remains in the range of 22–27 nm as obtained from XRD *** results obtained from electron microscopic studies are also close to these *** measurement shows the excitonic peak of ZnO around 390 nm which gets strengthened with Zn *** spectra show the metal–oxygen band below 700 *** temperature Mssbauer studies of the samples show the transition of iron oxide form antiferromagnetic state to paramagnetic state with increasing concentration of Zn2？.Sharp quenching of hyperfine field with Zn concentration is observed as the Hintvalue reduced to zero from 51 t.

the emergence and rapid spread of novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)has caused over 180 million confirmed cases resulting in over 4 million deaths worldwide with no clear end in sight for the coronavirus disease 19(COVID-19)*** SARS-CoV-2 exposed individuals experience mild to moderate symptoms,including fever,cough,fatigue,and loss of smell and ***,many individuals develop pneumonia,acute respiratory distress syndrome,septic shock,and multiorgan *** addition to these primarily respiratory symptoms,SARS-CoV-2 can also infiltrate the central nervous system,which may damage the blood-brain barrier and the neuron's *** inflammation and neurodegeneration in the brain stem can further prevent efferent signaling to cranial nerves,leading to the loss of anti-inflammatory signaling and normal respiratory and gastrointestinal ***,SARS-CoV-2 can infect enterocytes resulting in gut damage followed by microbial dysbiosis and translocation of bacteria and their byproducts across the damaged epithelial *** a result,this exacerbates pro-inflammatory responses both locally and systemically,resulting in impaired clinical *** evidence has highlighted the complex interactions that mutually modulate respiratory,neurological,and gastrointestinal *** this review,we discuss the ways SARS-CoV-2 potentially disrupts the gut-brain-lung *** further highlight targeting specific responses to SARS-CoV-2 for the development of novel,urgently needed therapeutic ***,we propose a prospective related to the individuals from Low-and Middle-Income ***,the underlying propensity for heightened gut damage/microbial translocation is likely to result in worse clinical outcomes during this COVID-19 pandemic.

Biochar improves soil properties and corn productivity under drought conditions in South Korea

Biochar has been shown to improve soil properties and plant productivity in soils with inherently low ***,little has been reported for upland corns under dry and wet precipitation *** study investigates the effect of biochar addition on a range of soil physicochemical,biological,and hydrological properties,and corn growth and productivity under agrometeorological drought and wet ***,experiments were laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications at two sites during 2017 and 2018 in South *** included(i)CN:control(ii)IF:inorganic fertilizer(N-P-K)at 145-30-60 kg ha^(−1);(iii)BS:barley straw at 5 t ha^(−1);(iv)CWBC:corn waste biochar at 5 t ha^(−1);(v)CWBC+IF:corn waste biochar+inorganic fertilizer;(vi)CWBC+BS:corn waste biochar+barley *** year 2017 was relatively dry,whereas the year 2018 was *** drought conditions in the year 2017,biochar facilitated soil water ***,higher precipitation in 2018 increased the quantity and distribution of soil water and nutrients in the top 15 *** reduced soil bulk density,and increased porosity,cation exchange capacity and total organic carbon in both years but increased total bacterial counts during the dry year *** population was generally higher under wet ***,more soil CO_(2) was emitted in the wet year than in the dry *** further indicated that biochar can enhance corn biomass and grain yield regardless of precipitation *** grain index was,however,affected by rainfall and was significantly different across treatments in the year 2018 *** biomass,grain yield,and grain index were highest in CWBC+IF treatment and lowest under CN ***,biochar addition appeared to improve soil quality and soil conditioning effects in the drought and wet years,ameliorating soil and plant ***,biochar can improve water and nutrients storage,availability,and uptake,and
