Fe(Ⅱ)/α-ketoglutarate(αKG)-dependent oxygenases catalyze the oxidative modification of various molecules,from DNA,RNA,and proteins to primary and secondary *** also catalyze a variety of biochemical reactions,including hydroxylation,halogenation,desaturation,epoxidation,cyclization,peroxidation,epimeriza-tion,and *** the versatile catalytic capability of such oxygenases,numerous studies have been conducted to characterize their functions and elucidate their structure-function relationships over the past few *** acids,particularly nonproteinogenic amino acids,are considered as important building blocks for chemical synthesis and components for natural product *** addition,the Fe(Ⅱ)/αKG-dependent oxy-genase superfamily includes important enzymes for generating amino acid derivatives,as they efficiently modify various free-standing amino *** recent discovery of new Fe(Ⅱ)/αKG-dependent oxygenases and the repur-posing of known enzymes in this superfamily have promoted the generation of useful amino acid ***,this study will focus on the recent progress achieved from 2019 to 2022 to provide a clear view of the mechanism by which these enzymes have expanded the repertoire of free amino acid oxidative modifications.

Modern crops were created through the domestication and genetic introgression of wild relatives and adaptive differentiation in new *** the domestication-related genes and unveiling their molecular diversity provide clues for understanding how the domesticated variants were selected by ancient people,elucidating how and where these crops were *** genetics and genomics have explored some domestication-related genes in soybean(Glycine max).Here,we summarize recent studies about the quantitative trait locus(QtL)and genes involved in the domestication traits,introduce the functions of these genes,clarify which alleles of domesticated genes were selected during domestication.A deeper understanding of soybean domestication could help to break the bottleneck of modern breeding by highlighting unused genetic diversity not selected in the original domestication process,as well as highlighting promising new avenues for the identification and research of important agronomic traits among different crop species.

With the rapid development of the world economy, complex air pollution has increasingly become a serious threat; for example, with haze events occurring frequently in various regions of the globe. Recent evidence has indicated that secondary aerosols play an important role in haze formation, and that heterogeneous processes are among the main forces driving their explosive growth. In this regard, this paper reviews recent advances in the understanding of the impact of heterogeneous processes on haze chemistry, including the impact on NO2chemistry, marine aerosols, and the hygroscopicity and optical properties of atmospheric aerosols. It is distinguished from past reviews on this topic by focusing mainly on new insights from the past five years. We summarize the main findings of the impacts of heterogeneous processes on NO2chemistry, marine aerosols, and the physicochemical properties of atmospheric aerosols, and propose several future research directions.

Aging and overnutrition cause obesity in rodents and humans. It is well-known that obesity causes various diseases by producing insulin resistance(IR). Macrophages infiltrate the adipose tissue(At) of obese individuals and cause chronic low-level inflammation associated with IR. Macrophage infiltration is regulated by the chemokines that are released from hypertrophied adipocytes and the immune cells in At. Saturated fatty acids are recognized by toll-like receptor 4(tLR4) and induce inflammatory responses in At macrophages(AtMs). the inflammatory cytokines that are released from activated AtMs promote IR in peripheral organs, such as the liver, skeletal muscle and At. therefore, AtM activation is a therapeutic target for IR in obesity. the ubiquitin ligase Casitas b-lineage lymphoma-b(Cbl-b) appears to potently suppress macrophage migration and activation. Cbl-b is highly expressed in leukocytes and negatively regulates signals associated with migration and activation. Cbl-b deficiency enhances AtM accumulation and IR in aging- and diet-induced obese mice. Cbl-b inhibits migration-related signals and SFA-induced tLR4 signaling in AtMs. thus, targeting Cbl-b may be a potential therapeutic strategy to reduce the IR induced by AtM activation. In this review, we summarize the regulatory functions of Cbl-b in AtMs.

Hepatitis C virus(HCV) is a hepatotrophic virus and a major cause of chronic liver disease,including hepatocellular carcinoma,worldwide. the life cycle of HCV is closely associated with the metabolism of lipids and lipoproteins. the main function of lipoproteins is transporting lipids throughout the body. triglycerides,free cholesterol,cholesteryl esters,and phospholipids are the major components of the transported lipids. the pathway of HCV assembly and secretion is closely linked to lipoprotein production and secretion,and the infectivity of HCV particles largely depends on the interaction of lipoproteins. Moreover,HCV entry into hepatocytes is strongly influenced by lipoproteins. the key lipoprotein molecules mediating these interactions are apolipoproteins. Apolipoproteins are amphipathic proteins on the surface of a lipoprotein particle,which help stabilize lipoprotein structure. they perform a key role in lipoprotein metabolism by serving as receptor ligands,enzyme co-factors,and lipid transport carriers. Understanding the association between the life cycle of HCV and lipoprotein metabolism is important because each step of the life cycle of HCV that is associated with lipoprotein metabolism is a potential target for anti-HCV therapy. In this article,we first concisely review the nature of lipoprotein and its metabolism to better understand the complicated interaction of HCV with lipoprotein. then,we review the outline of the processes of HCV assembly,secretion,and entry into hepatocytes,focusing on the association with lipoproteins. Finally,we discuss the clinical aspects of disturbed lipid/lipoprotein metabolism and the significance of dyslipoproteinemia in chronic HCV infection with regard to abnormal apolipoproteins.

Photoperiodic flowering is one of the most important factors affecting regional adaptation and yield in soybean(Glycine max). Plant adaptation to long-day conditions at higher latitudes requires early flowering and a reduction or loss of photoperiod sensitivity;adaptation to short-day conditions at lower latitudes involves delayed flowering, which prolongs vegetative growth for maximum yield potential. Due to the influence of numerous major loci and quantitative trait loci(QtLs), soybean has broad adaptability across latitudes. Forward genetic approaches have uncovered the molecular basis for several of these major maturity genes and QtLs. Moreover, the molecular characterization of orthologs of Arabidopsis thaliana flowering genes has enriched our understanding of the photoperiodic flowering pathway in soybean. Building on early insights into the importance of the photoreceptor phytochrome A, several circadian clock components have been integrated into the genetic network controlling flowering in soybean: E1, a repressor of FLOWERING LOCUS t orthologs, plays a central role in this network. Here, we provide an overview of recent progress in elucidating photoperiodic flowering in soybean, how it contributes to our fundamental understanding of flowering time control, and how this information could be used for molecular design and breeding of high-yielding soybean cultivars.

Effective conversion of fructose to 5-ethoxymethylfurfural with brønsted acid site(S/Cl)-functional carbon catalysts

Brønsted acid site(S/Cl)-functional carbon materials were prepared by ball-milling(bm)L-cysteine and ammonium chloride to form chemical complex solids,by post-heat treatment(Q)of the solids at 500°C under a nitrogen gas atmosphere to stabilize and fortify amino and functional group solid structures and by post-oxidative treatment with H_(2)O_(2)to add Brønsted *** as-prepared carbon materials(S/Cl@bm_(x)Q_(y);x,y in hours)contained Brønsted acid sites(sul-fonates,chlorides),oxygen-containing groups(-COOH,-OH)and amino functional *** S/Cl@bm_(x)Q_(y)materials were applied as catalysts to promote conversion of fructose in ethanol solvent to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(5-HMF)and 5-ethoxymethylfurfural(5-EMF).Among the carbon materials,S/Cl@bm_(3)Q_(1)gave 5-EMF and 5-HMF yields of 67.0%and 22.8%,respectively,in pure ethanol at 140℃for 24 h reaction time,while a reaction time of 18 h gave total 5-EMF and 5-HMF yields of 96.4%.Dimethyl sulfoxide(DMSO)was applied as additive to the ethanol-fructose-S/Cl@bm_(3)Q_(1)reaction system which showed that 5-HMF product selectivity could be controlled with DMSO *** protocol developed allows simple preparation of func-tional carbon materials that have high catalytic activity and are effective for conversion of fructose to 5-HMF and 5-EMF in ethanol.
