Exemplar-based video inpainting with large patches

Inpainting is the process of reconstructing damaged regions of images and video *** study deals with weaknesses of the current video inpainting techniques,when an object is totally damaged,and a framework for video inpainting is *** this framework,the moving object is separated from the background.A large mosaic image is constructed using the moving object and then a patch-based method with large patches is used to fill *** each frame,the inpainted foreground is obtained by placing the object in its *** areas of the stationary background are also filled separately and the final video is produced by composing the inpainted background and object *** for three video sequences with an occluded object show that this approach represents the object in the missing region better than other approaches.

A Model‑Based Battery Charging Optimization Framework for Proper trade‑offs Between time and Degradation

this study aims at developing an optimization framework for electric vehicle charging by considering different trade-offs between battery degradation and charging *** the first time,the application of practical limitations on charging and cooling power is considered along with more detailed health *** iron phosphate battery is used as a case study to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed optimization framework.A coupled electro-thermal equivalent circuit model is used along with two battery health models to mathematically obtain optimal charging current profiles by considering stress factors of state-of-charge,charging rate,temperature and *** optimization results demonstrate an improvement over the benchmark constant current–constant voltage(CCCV)charging protocol when considering both the charging time and battery health.A main difference between the optimal and the CCCV charging protocols is found to be an additional ability to apply constraints and adapt to initial conditions in the proposed optimal charging *** a case study,for example,the‘optimal time’charging is found to take 12 min while the‘optimal health’charging profile suggests around 100 min for charging the battery from 25 to 75%*** other trade-off between those two extreme cases is achievable using the proposed charging protocol as well.

Metal Contamination in Nullah Dek Water and Accumulation in Rice

A research study was carried out to determine the electrical conductivity （EC）, residual sodium carbonate （RSC）, sodium adsorption ratio （SAR）, pH and metals in metal-polluted irrigation water from a nullah and those in soils over a period of time, and the effect of metals on rice yield and metal concentrations in rice grain and straw. two sites （I and If） were selected on the bank of Nullah Dek at thatta Wasiran in Sheikhupura District （Pakistan）, with two rice varieties, Super Basmati and Basmati 385, at both sites. Water samples were collected during rice crop growth at 15-day intervals from August 3 to November 1, 2002. the results showed that Nullah Dek water had an EC 〉1.0 dS m^-1 and RSC of 2.78-4.11 mmolc L^-1, which was hazardous for crops, but the SAR was within the safe limit. Cu, Mn Cd and Sr were also within safe limits. the soil analysis showed that Site Ⅱ was free from salinity/sodicity, whereas Site Ⅰ was saline sodic. Among metals, Zn was sometimes deficient, Cu, Mn and Fe were adequate, and St, Ni and Cd were within safe limits in the soil at both the sites. After the rice crop harvest, concentrations of all metals tested were usually slightly increased, being higher in the upper soil layer than the lower. In addition, Basmati 385 produced higher rice grain and straw yield than Super Basmati. Chemical analysis of rice grain indicated the presence of Zn, Cu, Fe, Mn, Pb and Sr, whereas rice straw contained Zn, Cu, Fe, Mn and Sr, with Cd and Ni both being found in minute quantities.

Nitriding molybdenum: Effects of duration and fill gas pressure when using 100-Hz pulse DC discharge technique

Molybdenum is nitrided by a 100-Hz pulsed DC glow discharge technique for various time durations and fill gas pressures to study the effects on the surface properties of molybdenum. X-ray diffractometry （XRD）, scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, and atomic force microscopy （AFM） are used for the structural and morphological analysis of the nitrided layers. Vickers＇ microhardness tester is utilized to investigate surface microhardness. Phase analysis shows the formation of more molybdenum nitride molecules for longer nitriding durations at fill gas pressures of 2 mbar and 3 mbar （1 bar = 105 Pa）. A considerable increase in surface microhardness （approximately by a factor of 2） is observed for longer duration （10 h） and 2-mbar pressure. Longer duration （10 h） and 2-mbar fill gas pressure favors the formation of homogeneous, smooth, hard layers by the incorporation of more nitrogen.

Determination of trace amounts of silver(I) in the presence of an activator with a kinetic method

A simple and sensitive kinetic-spectrophotometric method was developed for the determination of trace amounts of silver, based on its catalytic effect on the oxidation of azocarmine G by peroxydisulfate in sulfuric acid medium and at 30 °C in the presence of 1,10-phenantroline as activator. the absorbance was measured at 525 nm with the fixed-time method. the optimization of the operating conditions regarding concentrations of the reagents, temperature, ionic strength, and interferences was also investigated. the calibration curve is linear over the concentration range 0.3–50.0 ng ml-1of silver with good precision and accuracy, and the detection limit is down to0.125 ng ml-1. the relative standard deviation for a standard solution of 25.0 ng ml-1of silver is 1.36 %（n = 10）.the proposed method proves to be highly sensitive,selective, and relatively rapid for the assay of silver at lowlevel range of 0.3–50.0 ng ml-1without any pre-concentration and separation step. the method was applied for the determination of silver in river water and white photographic film. the analytic results of the real samples are in excellent agreement with atomic absorption spectrometry analysis. the analytical results obtained are satisfactory.

Influence of the iodide/iodine redox system on the self-discharge of AC/AC electrochemical capacitors in salt aqueous electrolyte

Self-discharge(SD) of AC/AC(AC ? activated carbon) electrochemical capacitors in aqueous solutions of lithium sulfate(Li2SO4) and lithium sulfate t iodide salts(Li2SO4tKI or Li2SO4tLi I) was investigated at 24 1C and 40 1C after cell potential hold at values from 1 V to 1.6 ***24 1C,the cells exhibit lower SD in Li2SO4tKI than in Li2SO4,owing to the redox activity of the 2I /I2 system which drives the positive AC electrode to operate in narrow potential range and display lower potential drop than in *** 401 C,the capacitors exhibit comparable and reduced SD both in Li2SO4tLi I and Li2SO4,whatever the holding cell ***-electrode cell experiments demonstrate that,at 40 1C,hydrogen chemisorption is thermodynamically unfavored under negative polarization,while the activity of the 2I /I2 redox system under positive polarization is only slightly *** a consequence,the AC/AC cells in Li2SO4 exhibit a typical electrical double-layer performance at 401 C,whereas they still behave as hybrid ones in Li2SO4tLi I,with twice higher capacitance than in ***(Ui-Ut) vs t1/2plots demonstrate that SD is essentially controlled by diffusion at 401 C,suggesting that it originates from bulkier hydrated ***,in the investigated temperature range,the AC/AC capacitors in Li2SO4tLi I demonstrate low self-discharge and high capacitance,while being able to operate up to 1.6 V.

Entropy generation for mixed convection flow in vertical annulus with two regions hydromagnetic viscous and Cu-Ag water hybrid nanofluid through porous zone: a comparative numerical study

the primary determination of this study is a numerical investigation of the entropygeneration (EG) in the steady two-region flow of viscous fluid and hybrid nanofluid (NF) in along-infinite vertical annulus having a clear region as well as porous media. Stoke’s and single-phase NF models are used to study the viscous fluid and hybrid nanofluid (HNF) heat transferdevelopments, respectively. two types of nanoparticles are taken, such as copper (Cu) and sil-ver (Ag) within base fluid water to make it a HNF. Darcy-Brinkman law is also used to examinethe flow through the porous zone in the annulus. Necessary quantities have been used in thesystem of equations to transfer them into non-dimensional forms. For momentum and energytransport, the numerical results are evaluated for various model parameters and are examinedvia the shooting method in MAtHEMAtICA. It is noted that the momentum and energy trans-port are more significant when two immiscible fluids in a clear vertical annulus are taken. thefindings also indicate that two-phase momentum and heat flow are greater when a NF is used in Region-II and lower when a HNF is used. the temperature (in Region-II) falls with a high na-nomaterials volume fraction (see Figure 4) while it is increased when the Hartman number isincreased. Moreover, velocity declines with increment in nanomaterials volume fraction. thus,higher thermal conductivity can be accomplished by using a magnetic field.
