(AOD) over t.o dist.nct.locat.ons in Kannur, India. t.e AOD over a locat.on which has st.ong marine influence shows t.e presence of coarse part.cles while t.at.on a valley of West.rn Ghat. reveals t.e combined influences of bot. land and t.e ocean. t.e correlat.on bet.een AOD measured from t.e ground and t.at.ret.ieved from MODIS is fairly good. t.e AODs ret.ieved from ground based observat.on is validat.d wit. t.at.est.mat.d from MODIS in t.e cont.xt.of met.orological paramet.rs observed during t.e period of t.is observat.on.

Ozone plays a significant.part.in regulat.ng climat. change and t.e chemical charact.rist.cs of t.e at.osphere. Changes in at.ospheric ozone can be st.died in more det.il using ground-based and sat.llit.-based inst.ument.. St.dies on t.e long-t.rm global changes in t.t.l column ozone have begun more t.an t.ree-decade ago using sat.llit. dat.. t.e main object.ve of t.is work is t. analyze t.e t.t.l Column Ozone (t.O) variat.ons, and t.opo-spheric ozone variat.ons over different.t.ent. locat.ons in t.e Indian sub-cont.nent.by using t.t.l Ozone Mapping Spect.omet.r (t.MS) and AURA OMI/MLS dat.. t.e long-t.rm analysis of t.t.l column ozone is divided int. t.o phases (1979-1994 and 2005-2018), and t.opospheric ozone for one phase (2005-2018) in order t. det.ct.changes in t.e ozone t.end pat.ern. t.e result. of linear regression analysis show a declining t.end of t.t.l column ozone, and an increasing t.end of t.opospheric ozone over t.e select.d locat.ons. t.e impact.of wind pat.ern on t.e variat.on of ozone has been analyzed by using NCEP reanalysis dat., and found t.at.wind pat.erns played a prominent.role in spat.al and t.mporal changes in t.t.l and t.opospheric ozone dist.ibut.on over t.e subcont.nent. Lat.t.dinal variat.on of t.t.l column ozone from Nagarcoil t. Anant.nag has also been st.died for t.e years 1979, 1994, 2005, and 2018, which indicat.s an increase in ozone concent.at.on wit. lat.t.de.

t.e solar UV radiat.on has prominent.impact. on human life, animals and plant. wit. posit.ve and negat.ve effect.. At.ospheric ozone, which is formed from t.e phot.dissociat.on of molecular oxygen mainly in t.e st.at.sphere, absorbs a significant.fact.r of solar UV radiat.on. t.e ozone in t.e st.at.sphere act. as a prot.ct.ve layer t. prevent.UV radiat.on reaching on t.e surface of t.e eart.. Hence t.e int.nsit. of solar UV radiat.on on t.e surface has a st.ong dependence on t.e t.t.l Ozone Column (t.C). t.e UV irradiance on eart. surface depends on geomet.ical fact.rs such as solar zenit. angle, alt.t.de, lat.t.de and ot.er at.ospheric paramet.rs as well. t.is is an at.empt.t. st.dy t.e variat.on of solar UV flux at.it. four discret. wavelengt.s ranging from 305 - 380 nm at.Kannur, which is locat.d in t.e nort. of Kerala in India. Hence such a correlat.on of t.C and UV irradiance is relevant.t. realize t.e radiat.on budget.at.t.is locat.on (12.3N, 75.4E) using AURA OMI dat.. t.is paper reveals t.e correlat.on of day t. day, mont. t. mont. t.mporal variat.on of t.t.l ozone column (in DU) and UV irradiance (w/m2). From t.e analysis, t.e ant.-correlat.on bet.een UV and t.C is revealed and it. impact.in t.e solar radiat.on budget.is est.blished.
