According t. WHO, cancer is a leading cause of deat. worldwide, account.ng for 8.2 million deat.s in 2012. Among several fact.rs involved in t.e pat.ogenesis of cancer, free radical format.on followed by damage t. DNA and cell prot.in is one of t.e causes. Nat.ral plant.product. have gained enormous int.rest.in t.e prevent.on or t.eat.ent.of chronic diseases. Ferulic acid, like ot.er phenolic acids (caffeic acid, sinapic acid) possess ant. cancer act.vit.. A series of ferulic est.rs (FE1 - FE11) and ferulic amides (FA1 - FA10) were synt.esized and evaluat.d for t.eir cyt.t.xic act.vit..

t.in films of CdS have been prepared by chemical spray pyrolysis by spraying precursor solut.on direct.y ont. soda lime glass（SLG） subst.at.s. Influence of subst.at. t.mperat.re on st.uct.ral, opt.cal, morphological and elect.ical propert.es have been invest.gat.d by using various t.chniques such as low angle X-ray diffract.on（XRD）, Raman spect.oscopy, X-ray phot.elect.on spect.oscopy（XPS）, field emission scanning elect.on microscopy（FESEM）, at.mic force microscopy（AFM）, t.ansmission elect.on microscopy（t.M）, UV–visible spect.oscopy phot.luminescence（PL） spect.oscopy et.. Format.on of CdS has been confirmed by low angle XRD,Raman spect.oscopy and XPS analysis. XRD pat.ern showed t.at.CdS films are polycryst.lline, have hexagonal st.uct.re and prefer orient.t.on of cryst.llit.s shift. from（101） t.（002） wit. increase in subst.at. *** spect.oscopy revealed t.at.excit.n-phonon coupling depends on subst.at. t.mperat.re and hence on cryst.llit. size. Opt.cal band gap increased from 2.43 t. 2.99 eV when subst.at. t.mperat.re increased from 325 t. 475 ℃. t.ansmit.ance of t.e film also showed an increasing t.end from 52% t. 80% wit. increase in subst.at. t.mperat.re. Such high band gap and t.ansmit.ance values of CdS films prepared at.475℃ make it.a useful window mat.rial in CdS/Cdt. and CdS/Cu_2S het.rojunct.on solar cells.
