Solvent.ext.act.on is an import.nt.process in t.e nuclear fuel cycle. t.ibut.l phosphat.(t.P) dilut.d wit. dodecane is commonly used as a solvent.for ext.act.ng heavy met.ls from nit.ic acid medium. St.dies on hydrodynamics of a single drop, which is t.e smallest.mass t.ansfer ent.t., are required for bet.er underst.nding of t.e complex mass t.ansfer and phase separat.on phenomena t.at.occur in ext.act.on equipment. In t.is st.dy, drop format.on at.nozzles is st.died using 30% t.P-dodecane as t.e dispersed phase and dilut. nit.ic acid as t.e quiescent.cont.nuous phase. experiment. are carried out.t. det.rmine t.e drop diamet.r, jet.ing velocit., drop det.chment.height.and drop det.chment.t.me for various dispersed phase velocit.es, nozzle diamet.rs(1.91, 3.04, and 4.88 mm), and nit.ic acid concent.at.ons(0.01, 1, 3 N). Drop format.on is capt.red using high-speed imaging, which enables quant.ficat.on of drop size, onset.of jet.ing, drop det.chment.height. and drop det.chment.t.me. experiment.l dat. are used t. propose correlat.ons for predict.ng drop diamet.r and minimum jet.ing velocit.. t.e correlat.ons are found t. be very accurat. wit. average absolut. relat.ve errors being 5.23 and 2.97%, respect.vely.

Fear and anxiet. may be adapt.ve responses t. life-t.reat.ning sit.at.ons, and animals may communicat. fear t. ot.ers vocally. A fundament.l underst.nding of fear inducing sounds is import.nt.for bot. wildlife conservat.on and management.because it.helps us underst.nd how t. design repellent. and also how （and why） animals may be negat.vely impact.d by ant.ropogenic sounds. Nonlinear phenomena--sounds produced by t.e desynchronizat.on of vibrat.ons in a sound product.on syst.m-are commonly found in st.ess-induced animal vocalizat.ons, such as in alarm calls, mobbing calls, and fear screams. t.ere are several funct.onal hypot.eses for t.ese nonlinear phenomena. One specific hypot.esis is t.e unpredict.bilit. hypot.esis, which suggest. t.at.because nonlinear phenomena are more variable and somewhat.unpredict.ble, animals are less lik.ly t. habit.at. t. t.em. Animals should, t.erefore, have a prolonged response t. sounds wit. nonlinear phenomena t.an sounds wit.out.t.em. Most.of t.e st.dies involving nonlinear phenomena have used mammalian subject. and conspecific st.muli. Our st.dy fo- cused on whit.-crowned sparrows （Zonot.ichia leucophrys ssp. oriant.a） and used synt.esized acoust.c st.muli t. invest.gat. behavioral responses t. st.muli wit. and wit.out.nonlinear phenomena. We predict.d t.at.birds would be less relaxed aft.r hearing a st.mulus wit. a nonlinear component. We calculat.d t.e difference from baseline of proport.on of t.me spent.in relaxed behaviors and performed pair-wise comparisons bet.een a pure t.ne cont.ol st.mulus and each of t.ree experiment.l st.muli, including a frequency jump up, a frequency jump down, and whit. noise. t.ese comparisons showed t.at.in t.e 30q50 s aft.r t.e playback.experiment. birds were significant.y less relaxed aft.r hearing noise or an abrupt.frequency jump down an oct.ve but.not.an abrupt.frequency jump up an oct.ve or a pure t.ne. Nonlinear phenomena, t.erefore, may be generally arousing t. animals and may explain why t.

Microhollow cat.ode discharge （MHCD） plasmas were generat.d in gas mixt.res cont.ining wat.r vapor at.pressures of up t. 100 k.a of He or 20 k.a of air. t.e cat.ode diamet.r was 1.0 mm wit. a lengt. of 2.0 ram. t.e elect.icM charact.rist.cs showed an abnormal glow mode. Spect.oscopic measurement. were carried out.t. examine t.e plasma and radicals. An analysis of t.e spect.al profile of Ha at.656.3 nm enabled a derivat.on of t.e elect.on densit.es, namely 2× 1014 cm-3 （at.10 k.a） and 6× 1014 cm-3 （at.4 k.a） for t.e helium and air at.ospheres, respect.vely, in t.e negat.ve glow region. By comparing t.e observed OH radical spect.a wit. t.ose calculat.d by t.e simulat.on code L[FBASe, t.e gas t.mperat.re was deduced t. be 900 k.for 4 k.a of He at.a discharge current.of 50 mA.

Comprehensive qualit.t.ve and semi-quant.t.t.ve seismic analysis was carried out.on 3-dimensional seismic dat. acquired in t.e deepwat.r compressional and shale diapiric zone of t.e Niger Delt. Basin using an advanced seismic imaging t.ol. t.e main aim of t.is work.is t. obt.in an underst.nding of t.e forming mechanism of t.e gas hydrat. syst.m, and t.e fluid migrat.on pat.s associat.d wit. t.is part.of t.e basin. t.e result. showed t.e presence of pock.ark. on t.e seafloor and bot.om simulat.ng reflect.rs(BSRs) in t.e field, indicat.ng t.e act.ve fluid flux and exist.nce of gas hydrat. syst.m in t.e area. In t.e area of approximat.ly 195 k.^2 occupying nearly 24% of t.e ent.re st.dy field, t.ree major zones wit. cont.nuous or discont.nuous BSRs of 3 t. 7 k. in lengt. which are in t.e nort.east.rn, sout.ern and east.rn part.of t.e field respect.vely were delineat.d. t.e BSR is int.rpret.d t. be t.e t.ansit.on bet.een t.e free gas zone and t.e gas hydrat. zone. t.e geologic st.uct.res including fault.(st.ik.-slip and normal fault.), chimneys and diapirs were deduced t. be t.e main conduit. for gas migrat.on. It.is concluded t.at.t.e biogenic gases generat.d in t.e basin were possibly t.ansport.d via fault. and chimneys by advect.on processes and subsequent.y accumulat.d under low t.mperat.re and high pressure condit.ons in t.e free gas zone below t.e BSR forming gas hydrat.. A plausible explanat.on for t.e presence of t.e ubiquit.us pock.ark. of different.diamet.rs and sizes in t.e area is t.e t.ansport.t.on of t.e excessive gas t. t.e seafloor t.rough t.ese mapped geologic st.uct.res.

In a relat.vely high bet. plasma wit. monot.nic l/2π-profile, t.o t.es wit. different.t.roidal mode number oft.n int.ract.nonlinearly and generat. anot.er modes t.rough t.ree wave coupling.
