t.e past.lit.rat.re on t.e use of veget.ble oils as fuel in diesel engine revealed t.at.ut.lizing veget.ble oil fuels in diesel engines may require propert. changes in t.e oil or perhaps, some minor engine modificat.ons or operat.ng changes. t.is st.dy was conduct.d t. search for t.e effect.of at.ospheric oxygen on t.e puffing and burst.ng phenomena t.at.occur during veget.ble oils droplet.vaporizat.on process in t.eir use as fuel in diesel engine. t.e fiber-suspended droplet.t.chnique was used, and t.e normalized square droplet.diamet.r as well as t.e t.mperat.re evolut.on vicinit. t.e droplet.was analyzed. t.e result. show t.at.puffing and burst.ng phenomena highly depend on oxygen. In presence of at.ospheric oxygen, t.ere is an increase of t.e puffing and burst.ng int.nsit. and t.erefore t.e evaporat.on rat. of t.e veget.ble oil droplet., but.in an inert.environment.or when t.e environment.is oxygen-deplet.d puffing and burst.ng phenomena disappearing and make place of a series of explosions wit. lower magnit.de. t.e lack of oxygen reduces t.e t.ermal degradat.on, polymerizat.on and oxidat.on react.ons and consequent.y t.e vaporizat.on rat. of veget.ble oils droplet.;and could t.erefore lead t. t.e format.on of deposit. in t.e form of polymers. t.is is unsuit.ble for t.eir use as a fuel in diesel engines. It.can also be concluded t.at.at.ospheric oxygen has some posit.ve effect. on engine performance and emissions when operat.ng wit. veget.ble oil. t.ese result. help t. address t.e challenge for t.e use of alt.rnat.ve fuels such as non-edible veget.ble oils.

t.is st.dy present. a cont.ibut.on t. t.e development.of a model for veget.ble oil droplet. vaporizat.on, wit. a part.cular focus on t.e influence of t.e experiment.l set.up for t.eir use as fuel in diesel engines. t.o syst.ms were considered: an open-environment.syst.m obt.ined t.rough a hot.gas flow, and a closed-environment.syst.m. Vaporizat.on was conduct.d under ident.cal condit.ons, wit. t.e result. subsequent.y compared. t.e findings indicat. t.at. for t.mperat.res bet.een 473 K and 673 K, droplet. behaviour in bot. syst.ms present. only a heat.ng and expansion phase. For t.mperat.res above 673 K, t.e behaviour of t.e droplet. differs bet.een t.e devices. In t.e open environment.device, a linear reduct.on in droplet. diamet.r is observed following t.e t.ansient.phase, suggest.ng st.t.onary vaporizat.on and enabling t.e calculat.on of a vaporizat.on const.nt.and t.e well-known D2 law is respect.d. In t.e closed-environment.device, puffing, micro-explosions and gas eject.ons are observed, and it.is not.possible t. det.rmine vaporizat.on const.nt.and D2 law is not.respect.d. t.e result. demonst.at. t.e necessit. of developing a model for t.e t.ermal decomposit.on of veget.ble oil before at.empt.ng t. creat. a model for t.e vaporizat.on of t.ese oils. In order t. achieve t.is, it.is essent.al t. const.uct.an experiment.l set.p t.at.more closely emulat.s t.e real condit.ons wit.in t.e combust.on chamber of a diesel engine, t.king int. account.t.e variables of pressure, t.mperat.re and t.e heat.ng process.

In t.is paper, a literature review on thermocline storage performance for Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) plant storage systems has been conducted. The efficiency of materials to store heat depends on the storage process like sensible heat storage, latent heat storage and thermochemical one and also on their properties. This study has been focused on sensible heat storage materials especially thermocline storage system (DMT) using eco-materials which has a high potentiality (35%) to reduce CSP cost. There is a possibility to use natural rocks, industry waste and to develop also materials for a thermocline storage within a bed called packed bed using one tank. The thermal storage materials should have some optimum parameters (particle diameter less than 2 cm and good thermo-physical properties) to achieve better thermal storage performance (thermal cycle efficiency, extraction factor). Air pollut.on is one of t.e major global t.reat. t. human healt.. In Burkina Faso, more t.an 80% of t.e populat.on uses solid fuels as t.e main source of cooking energy. t.is paper report. a comparat.ve st.dy on t.e exposure of household t. t.e carbon monoxide (CO) and part.culat. mat.er (PM2.5) emit.ed by improved cookst.ves (ICS) or t.adit.onal cookst.ves (t.S). A cross-sect.onal st.dy was conduct.d in t.e cit. of Ouagadougou for 4 mont.s during t.e rainy season (July t. Oct.ber) in households wit. an out.oor kit.hen. t.e invest.gat.on involved 92 households where air pollut.nt., such as PM2.5 and CO were measured wit. Indoor Air Pollut.on Met.rs (IAP met.r). t.ese measurement. were focused on t.e concent.at.on levels of t.e pollut.nt. during cooking. t.e result. of t.is st.dy show high levels of PM2.5 and CO for all t.pe of st.ves. Wood st.ves led t. higher PM2.5 and lower CO emissions t.an charcoal st.ves. ICS reduce emissions of indoor air pollut.nt. compared t. t.S. t.is reduct.on raised up t. 82% for PM2.5 and 37% for CO. t.e analysis of t.e dat. measured wit. t.e st.dent.t.st.(t.t.st. shows t.at.t.ere is a st.t.st.cally significant.difference bet.een t.e average values of t.e concent.at.ons of t.e pollut.nt. emit.ed wit. t.e t.S compared t. ICS, except.for CO emissions measured on mult.-pot.sizes cookst.ves (MM). t.is st.dy shows t.at.t.e concent.at.ons of indoor air pollut.nt. are very high regardless of t.e t.pe of cookst.ves used. t.e CO exposure obt.ined varies from 119.10 t. 362.72 μg/m3 for 15-minut. and 10.83 - 55.11 μg/m3 for 1-hour exposure. t.e exposure in PM2.5 varies from 4762 t. 16,257 μg/m3 for 15-minut. and 106.63 t. 1597 μg/m3 for 1-hour of exposure.
