the fruits of the Sea buckthorn(Hippophae rhamnoides L.)are a popular plant food and a valuable health *** plants produces a lot of leaves with fine branches as an unnecessary residue,which needs *** aim of the study was to estimate(by HPLC-MS/MS)the qualitative and quantitative content of polyphenolic compounds in different parts of ***(HR),and to determine the level of antioxidant activity of leaves and fruits(by DPPH,ABtS methods and ferrozine test).Up to 19 compounds were identified in different parts of *** fruits are rich in flavonoids,including various glycosides of flavonols isorhamnetin,quercetin,and *** isorhamnetin glycosides were not identified in the leaves,while isorhamnetin-3-rhamnosylglactosides and the ellagitannins hippophaenin B,stachyurin and casuarinin were present only in the leaves of the *** bark and roots contained considerably more catechins,but minimal flavonols than the fruits and leaves of *** total phenolics and flavonols were most abundant in water infusions from leaves of HR(especially quercetin-3-O-glucoside-7-O-rhamnoside),compared to methanolic *** significant differences in the quantitative and qualitative content of the fresh and dried leaves were *** highest antioxidant activity by all three methods was detected in the leaves of *** addition to the fruits,the leaves may have a perspective as a source of biologically active substances of HR.

the studied area (Shoubra El Khima, Bahteem and Mostorod) lies in the industrial area north of Greater Cairo. the area suffers from several environmental problems such as sewage and disposal of pollutants from the surrounding factories into the surface water pathways in the area. Water samples were collected seasonally from different waterways found in the area, domestic and or industrial liquid wastes from 12 discharge tubes of different factories (as a point source of pollution). Chemical characteristics of different water samples and its heavy metals content were determined using ion coupled plasma technique (ICP). Results indicate that industrial and domestic wastewater samples contain several toxic levels of tested heavy metals (Cd, Co, Pb and Ni) which have a serious impact on surface waterways in the area. Shebin El Qanater collector drain samples exhibited the highest levels of Cd, Co, Pb and Ni compared to other tested water bodies. Mostorod collector drain samples showed the highest levels of Zn and Cu. Industrial effluent samples collected from Cairo Company for Fabric industry had the highest amounts of total Zn Cu, Cd, Co and Pb, while Delta steel company discharges the highest amounts of total Fe and Mn. Al Ahleya Plastic Company discharges the highest amounts of total Ni. Generally, it is necessary to impose the environmental laws and its regulation regarding the industrial wastewater treatments and disposals to minimize the risk of the adverse effects of these pollutants.

A comprehensive study was conducted to differentiate cardiovascular disease (CVD) subjects from non-CVD subjects using short recording electrocardiogram (ECG) of 244 Malaysian adults in the MalaysianCohort project. An automated peak detection algorithm to detect nine fiducialpoints of electrocardiogram (ECG) was developed. Forty-eight features wereextracted in both time and frequency domains, including statistical featuresobtained from heart rate variability and Poincare plot analysis. these includefive new features derived from spectrum counts of five different frequencyranges. Feature selection was then made based on p-value and correlationmatrix. Selected features were used as input for five classifiers of artificialneural network (ANN), k-nearest neighbors (kNN), support vector machine(SVM), discriminant analysis (DA), and decision tree (Dt). Results showedthat six features related to t wave were statistically significant in distinguishingCVD and non-CVD groups. ANN had performed the best with 94.44% specificity and 86.3% accuracy, followed by kNN with 80.56% specificity, 86.49%sensitivity and 83.56% accuracy. the novelties of this study were in providingalternative solutions to detect P-onset, P-offset, t-offset as well as QRS-onsetpoints using discrete wavelet transform method. Additionally, two out of thefive newly proposed spectral features were significant in differentiating bothgroups, at frequency ranges of 1–10 Hz and 5–10 Hz. the prediction outcomeswere also comparable to previous related studies and significantly importantin using ECG to predict cardiac-related events among CVD and non-CVDsubjects in the Malaysian population.

the Nippon/Norway Svalbard Meteor Radar(NSMR), has been in operation since March 2001. While primarily thought of as an instrument for examining mean wind, tidal and gravity wave neutral atmosphere dynamics in the upper mesosphere region, it is also possible to investigate spatial and temporal structure of temperature and windshear. Here, the radar itself is described followed by a presentation of these derived parameters.

Calcium stabilized nitrogen rich sialon ceramics having a general formula of Ca_(x)Si_(12-2x)Al_(2x)N_(16) with x value(x is the solubility of cation Ca in α-sialon structure)in the range of 0.2-2.2 for compositions lying along the Si_(3)N_(4):1/2Ca_(3)N_(2):3AlN line were synthesized using nano/submicron size starting powder precursors and spark plasma sintering(SPS)*** development of calcium stabilized nitrogen rich sialon ceramics at a significantly low sintering temperature of 1500℃(typically reported a temperature of 1700℃ or greater)remains to be the highlight of the present *** SPS processed sialons were characterized for their microstructure,phase and compositional analysis,and physical and mechanical ***,a correlation was developed between the lattice parameters and the content(x)of the alkaline metal cation in the α-sialon ***-densified single-phase nitrogen rich α-sialon ceramics were achieved in the range of 0.53(3)≤x≤1.27(3).A nitrogen richα-sialon sample possessing a maximum hardness of 22.4 GPa and fracture toughness of 6.1 MPa·m^(1/2) was developed.

this paper presents a novel and efficient control scheme for unified power quality conditioner （UPQC） based on three-level neutral point clamped （NPC） inverter using fuzzy logic techniques. the proposed UPQC is capable of mitigating source current harmonics and compensate all voltage disturbances such as voltage sags, swells, unbalances and harmonics. It is designed by the integration of series and shunt active filters （AFs） sharing a common DC bus capacitor. the DC voltage is maintained constant using proportional integral voltage controller. the synchronous reference frame （SRF） theory is used to get the reference signals for shunt active power filters （APFs） and the power reactive theory （p-q theory） for series APFs. the shunt and series APF reference signals derived from the control algorithm and sensed signals are injected in two controllers to generate switching signals. to improve the UPQC capability, fuzzy logic techniques are introduced to control the series APF. the performances of the proposed UPQC system are evaluated in terms of power factor correction, mitigation of voltage or current harmonics and all other voltage disturbances compensation using Matlab-Simulink software and SimPowerSystem toolbox. the simulation results illustrate the performance of the proposed UPQC at the common connection point of the nonlinear load to improve the power energy quality.
