the rapid growth of air traffic, the numerous largescale infrastructure developments such as the new airport core project, various road tunnels and waste treatment plants, as well as the large number of highrise buildings in Hong Kong have led to increased demands on engineering maintenance services. In order to cope with such plant services it is imperative that a steady supply of young, conscientious and competent plant operation and maintenance engineers be provided. to achieve this aim suitable plant engineering programs are required to meet the needs of various public and private sectors. this paper gives an account of the developments leading to the present situation in Hong Kong. In view of the United Nations forecast growth rate of air traffic in the AsiaPacific region, the development of plant engineering education and training programmes in the aircraft industry would be dealt with in a detailed manner. the role played by the engineering industry and the professional societies are also described.

Armed conflicts are increasing globally due to political unrest and the broader effects of climate *** resources to provide quality surgical care,it becomes nearly impossible to provide quality emergency surgery and trauma care similar to that in high-income *** understand and help aid organizations provide resources and address the surgical needs of populations facing armed conflict,a matrix to identify variables and help with interventions was *** published global surgery matrix based on the PIPES(Personnel,Infrastructure,Procedures,Equipment and Supplies)surgical capacity tool was adapted to this *** novel matrix incorporates 108 *** variables are grossly divided into local and international agency components to address the issue of who is providing *** a time continuum of pre-conflict,conflict,and post-conflict allows organizations to concentrate on when during the conflict to target their *** addition to the previously used personnel,infrastructure,procedures,equipment,and supplies categories,a sixth category called standards was included that addresses the issues such as information technology,data systems,quality improvement programs,and patient *** testing of this matrix to obtain feedback from end users is the next step in ***,peri-conflict preparedness should increase and improve surgical outcomes and reduce in death and disabilities around the world.

对采自苏北-胶南构造混杂岩带中的15个矿物样品进行了国内首次系统的多重扩散域^(40)Ar-^(39)Ar年龄谱研究,其中七个样品的冷却历史表明,这一地区存在着两个明显的快速冷却事件:172～196Ma(10～40℃/Ma)和105～123Ma(4～10℃/Ma)。采自南缘的样品给出的这一地区最早抬升事件的时间大约为260Ma。这些结果表明苏北-胶南碰撞带的剥蚀历史可能与秦岭-大别山造山带相一致。应用多重扩散域新理论可以从单一长石样品揭示较完整的热历史。

Localization Dynamics at the Exceptional Point of Non-Hermitian Creutz Ladder

We propose a quasi-one-dimensional non-Hermitian Creutz ladder with an entirely flat spectrum by introducing alternating gain and loss components while maintaining inversion *** interference generates a flat spectrum at the exceptional point,where the Creutz ladder maintains coalesced and degenerate eigenvalues with compact localized states distributed in a single *** excitations are completely confined within the localization area,unaffected by gain and ***-site excitations exhibit nonunitary dynamics with intensities increasing due to level coalescence,while multiple-site excitations may display oscillating or constant intensities at the exceptional *** results provide insights into the fascinating dynamics of non-Hermitian localization,where level coalescence and degeneracy coexist at the exceptional point.

In this essay, inspired by the somatic turn in philosophy initiated by Richard Shusterman, I want to invoke the language of classical Confucian philosophy to think through the best efforts of William James and John Dewey to escape the mind-body and nature-nurture dualisms--that is, to offer an alternative vocabulary that might lend further clarity to the revolutionary insights of James and Dewey by appealing to the processual categories of Chinese cosmology. What I will try to do first is to refocus the pragmatist＇s explanation of the relationship between mind and body through the lens of a process Confucian cosmology. And then, to make the case for James and Dewey, I will return to the radical, imagistic language they invoke to try and make the argument that this processual, holistic understanding of ＂vital bodyminding＂ is in fact what they were trying to say all along.

the interaction of hemin with chloroquine, quinine and quini-dine wasinvestigated in 50% water-propylene glycol mixture at pH = 9, 8.1, 7.4 and 6.8 using aspectrophotometric method. the data could be well fitted into a model consistent with the formationof a 1:1 complex between the reacting partners. In addition, the results indicated that hemincomplexed more strongly with quinidine than with chloroquine and quinine, and the binding constantswere pH-dependent. Moreover, it was proved that the water-propylene glycol mixture is well suitableto the study of the systems containing hemin and quinoline-based drugs.
