Evaluation of periglacial landforms and formation of soil properties on the Mount Honaz,SW türkiye

the main aim of this study is to explain periglacial processes on the summits of Mount Honaz(2571 m a.s.l.),define periglacial landforms,and determine the relationships between morphometric features and topographic *** circles,stony earth circles,non sorted steps,and non sorted stripes were identified on the summits of Mount ***'s correlation coefficient(r)and linear regression analyses were performed by taking metric measurements from 125 periglacial landforms to describe their morphometric features(length,width,height)of periglacial landforms and explain the relationships between them and topographic factors(elevation,slope).to explain the relationships between periglacial landforms and soil properties,soil samples from 11 periglacial landforms were taken and *** landforms,which continue to develop on the summits of Mount Honaz today,have been evaluated with present climate *** of soil samples indicates a notable impact of parent material on the genesis of periglacial *** high ratio of organic matter in mud circle and non sorted step landforms and the high lime ratio in stony earth circle landforms prove a strong relationship between the formation mechanisms of landforms and the soil ***,it is consistent with the findings obtained from the analysis that severe periglacial processes and washing and scavenging events are experienced more on the northern slopes.

the main aims of the current study are to determine the morphological features of the periglacial landforms(non-sorted step,mud circle,stony earth circle,thufur,and congeliturbation)located on the Ilgaz Mountains,examine the physicochemical and mineralogical properties with pedological processes of the soils,and assess of the effects of climatic conditions controlling the development of *** Ilgaz Mountains(2587 m a.s.l.),located in the Western Black Sea Region,within the Anatolian Mountains,are important in terms of periglacial landforms(mud circles,stony earth circles,thufurs,non-sorted steps,non-sorted stripes,congeliturbation deposits,and block currents).the descriptive statistics of 123 periglacial landforms measured by fieldworks were *** distribution of freezing and thawing in the Ilgaz Mountains throughout the year was evaluated,and it was found that freezing takes place between December and March,freezing-thawing takes place in April,May,October and November,and thawing takes place between June and *** to soil properties,organic matter content changes from 1.88%to 12.72%in non-sorted step soils,while it is between 2.03%and 12.24%in stony earth circle *** organic matter is observed to be close to congeliturbation deposits at lower ratios compared to non-sorted steps,stony earth circles and mud *** soil reactions on stony earth circles and non-sorted steps vary between slightly acidic and slightly *** the other hand,soil samples taken from the mud circles are different from those taken from the non-sorted steps and stony earth *** soil reaction is acidic,and pH changes between 4.86 and *** lime content also varies between 2.81%and 32.08%,with an average of 12.02%.the texture properties of soils are dominantly loam and clay loam,as in the non-sorted steps,stony earth circles,and mud *** their mineralogical properties,the XRD study was carried out to determine the primer mineral

Effect of a cervical collar on optic nerve sheath diameter in trauma patients

BACKGROUND:As advocated in advanced trauma life support and prehospital trauma life support protocols,cervical immobilization is applied until cervical spine injury is *** study aimed to show the difference in optic nerve sheath diameter(ONSD)between patients with and without a cervical collar using computed tomography(Ct).MEtHODS:this was a single-center,retrospective study examining trauma patients who presented to the emergency department between January 1,2021,and December 31,*** ONSD on brain Ct of the trauma patients was measured and analyzed to determine whether there was a difference between the ONSD with and without the cervical ***:the study population consisted of 169 *** Ct imaging of patients with(n=66)and without(n=103)cervical collars,the mean ONSD in the axial plane were 5.43±0.50 mm and 5.04±0.46 mm respectively for the right eye and 5.50±0.52 mm and 5.11±0.46 mm respectively for the left *** results revealed an association between the presence of a cervical collar and the mean ONSD,which was statistically significant(Pth the right and left ***:A cervical collar may be associated with increased *** effect of this increase in the ONSD on clinical outcomes needs to be investigated,and the actual need for cervical collar in the emergency department should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Effects of pressure relief holes on coal burst:Insights from true-triaxial unloading tests

Drilling pressure relief is one of the methods to reduce the risk of coal bursts in deep ***,the effect of the drill hole orientations has not been studied well enough to understand their impact on the burst failure *** this study,we investigated two designs of drill hole *** first design includes drill holes located on the upper free face of the rectangular samples and labelled as upper hole(UH)and centre hole(CH)e the long axes of the drill holes are aligned with minor principal stress,s3,*** second design includes drill holes at the top(tH)and the side(SH)of the rectangular samples in which the long axes of the drill holes are aligned with the maximum,s1,and intermediate principal stress,s2,directions,*** coal samples with the proposed drill hole orientations were subjected to the true-triaxial unloading coal burst *** results show that the drill holes reduce the risk of coal ***,we found that the intensity of coal burst was significantly reduced with the SH-type,followed by the *** also observed that the coal burst intensity is reduced better for the CH,UH,tH,and SH-type drilling ***,it was found that the orientations of drill holes have little influence on the failure mode(splitting).the acoustic emission(AE)activities for coal with drill holes noticeably decreased,especially for the UH and CH *** drill holes reduced the upper limit of the AE entropy(chaos of microcracks generation).However,regarding reducing the coal burst risk,the tH and SH are less effective than UH and CH.

Immunotherapy in gastric cancer with liver metastasis:Challenges and opportunities

In this editorial,we review the article by Liu et al published in the World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery investigating the efficacy and safety of immunotherapy in patients with gastric cancer(GC)and liver ***,the fifth most com-monly diagnosed malignancy worldwide,presents a significant challenge due to its multifactorial etiology and a grim prognosis for unresectable or recurrent *** advent of immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICIs)has revolutionized oncology;yet liver metastasis has been associated with reduced response rates,progression-free survival,and overall survival in various *** Che-ckMate-649 and KEYNOtE-859 trials demonstrated promising results with ICIs in advanced GC,particularly in patients with liver ***,a meta-analysis of liver metastatic solid tumors revealed worse outcomes with ICIs,high-lighting the need for further *** combined therapies,including ICIs with local treatments,show promise in improving outcomes,the nuanced landscape of ICIs in liver metastatic GC necessitates continued research for robust *** current contradictions in the literature underscore the impor-tance of cautious interpretation and the exploration of tailored approaches to enhance clinical efficacy in this challenging patient population.

Activated carbon derived from radiation-processed durian shell for energy storage application

A lignocellulosic biomass,durian shell,modified by radiolytic oxidizing species from gamma and electron beam irradiations,has been used as a starting material for activated carbon(AC)*** hydrothermal carbonization with ZnCl_(2)/FeCl_(3)and physical activation were employed in *** physicochemical and energy storage properties of the graphitic carbons were investigated using Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope(FESEM),N_(2)adsorption-desorption,Brunauer-Emmett-teller(BEt),Fourier transform Infrared Spectroscopy(FtIR),X-ray Diffraction(XRD),Raman spectroscopy,Cyclic Voltammetry(CV),Galvanostatic Charge-Discharge(GCD)and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy(EIS).Biomass modification by radiolytic oxidizing species aided in improving the energy storage properties of the resultant ACs without significantly changing the textural *** radiation type played an important role on the surface functional groups,basal plane,and pore structures of the graphitic *** energy storage mechanism was based on a combination of EDLC and pseudo capacitances with high Coulombic *** highest specific capacitance obtained was 325.20 F/g providing capacity retention of 94.79%after 10,000 cycles.A promising method of AC production for energy storage application has therefore been successfully demonstrated.

Immunomodulatory activity of polycaprolactone nanoparticles with calcium phosphate salts against Leishmania infantum infection

Objective:to prepare and characterize polycaprolactone(PCL)nanoparticles loaded with sonicator fragmented(SLA)and freeze-thaw Leishmania antigens(FtLA)and to investigate the in vitro immunogenicity of antigen-encapsulated nanoparticles with calcium phosphate ***:the water/oil/water binary emulsion solvent evaporation method was used to synthesize antigen-loaded PCL *** were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and zeta potential *** cytotoxicity in J774 macrophages in vitro was determined by Mtt *** addition,the amount of nitric oxide and the level of cytokines produced by macrophages were determined by Griess reaction and ELISA method,*** protective effect of the developed formulations was evaluated by determining the infection index percentage in macrophages infected with Leishmania ***:Compared to the control group,SLA PCL and FtLA PCL nanoparticles with calcium phosphate adjuvant induced a 6-and 7-fold increase in nitric oxide,***,the vaccine formulations promoted the production of IFN-γand *** PCL and FtLA PCL nanoparticles combined with calcium phosphate adjuvant caused an approximately 13-and 11-fold reduction in infection index,respectively,compared to the control ***:the encapsulation of antigens obtained by both sonication and freeze-thawing into PCL nanoparticles and the formulations with calcium phosphate adjuvant show strong in vitro immune stimulating ***,PCL-based antigen delivery systems and calcium phosphate adjuvant are recommended as a potential vaccine candidate against leishmaniasis.

Observed Impacts of Climate Variability on LULC in the Mesopotamia Region

Remote sensing analysis techniques have been investigated extensively,represented by a critical vision,and are used to advance our understanding of the impacts of climate change and variability on the *** study aims to find a means of analysis that relies on remote sensing techniques to demonstrate the effects of observed climate variability on Land Use and Land Cover(LULC)of the Mesopotamia region,defined as a historical region located in the Middle *** study employed the combined analysis of the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI),Land Surface temperature(LSt),and two statistical analysis methods(Pearson Correlation Analysis,r;Coefficient of Determination,R^(2)),which were applied using the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer data and observed surface meteorological data from 2000 to *** resulting NDVI images show five LULC classes with NDVI values varying between−0.3 and ***,changes in the classified LULC area were compared statistically to those in NDVI values,where a positive relationship was ***,when the LSt values and temperature are more extreme,the NDVI values were found to be smaller,suggesting a decrease in the density of vegetation cover.A negative correlation was found through Pearson correlation analysis(r=∼−0.64),indicating a direct effect of increased temperatures on ***,this negative relationship between NDVI and LSt was proven using R^(2) values,where a two-dimensional scatter plot analysis showed that R^(2) ranges from 0.54 to ***,the results obtained from this study reveal changes that may have many prominent effects in the field of LULC classification,accelerating the implications of climate change and variability factors.
