Towards trustworthy multi-modal motion prediction:Holistic evaluation and interpretability of outputs

Predicting the motion of other road agents enables autonomous vehicles to perform safe and efficient path *** task is very complex,as the behaviour of road agents depends on many factors and the number of possible future trajectories can be consid-erable(multi-modal).Most prior approaches proposed to address multi-modal motion prediction are based on complex machine learning systems that have limited ***,the metrics used in current benchmarks do not evaluate all aspects of the problem,such as the diversity and admissibility of the *** authors aim to advance towards the design of trustworthy motion prediction systems,based on some of the re-quirements for the design of Trustworthy Artificial *** focus is on evaluation criteria,robustness,and interpretability of ***,the evaluation metrics are comprehensively analysed,the main gaps of current benchmarks are identified,and a new holistic evaluation framework is ***,a method for the assessment of spatial and temporal robustness is introduced by simulating noise in the perception *** enhance the interpretability of the outputs and generate more balanced results in the proposed evaluation framework,an intent prediction layer that can be attached to multi-modal motion prediction models is *** effectiveness of this approach is assessed through a survey that explores different elements in the visualisation of the multi-modal trajectories and *** proposed approach and findings make a significant contribution to the development of trustworthy motion prediction systems for autono-mous vehicles,advancing the field towards greater safety and reliability.

Impact of tourism on the vigilance behavior of the Cyprus rock agama(Laudakia cypriaca)

Escape behavior is a common antipredator strategy among wild ***,we investigated the effect of four factors on the vigilance behavior of the endemic Cyprus rock agama(Laudakia cypriaca).Flight initiation distance(FID,the minimum distance to which an observer can approach a lizard before it flees)was measured in relation to the type of location(tourist *** area),the observer’s starting distance,air temperature,and substrate *** collected data for 39 agamas in tourist areas and 34 of these lizards in nontourist *** a whole,the mean starting distance was 10.5 m and the FID was 3.6 *** average substrate temperature was 34.0℃ and the average air temperature 29.6℃.Only the type of area affected the agamas’escape decisions with FID being 1.8 m shorter in tourist areas than in nontourist areas(2.7 m vs.4.5 m).This is probably due to the habituation of lizards to the presence of humans in the former *** study shows that tourism strongly affects the behavior of lizards,which may have consequences for the functioning of the *** can increase the safety of lizards by creating a human shield to deter *** the tourist season is over,lizards may become more vulnerable to predators.

The oxidation of porous Ni-yttria-stabilized zirconia(YSZ)and Ni-gadolinia-doped ceria(GDC)ceramicmetal(cermet)electrodes in H_(2)O and CO_(2)atmospheres was studied by near-ambient pressure X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(NAP-XPS).We show that the oxidation of nickel by the two gases is not similar,as is commonly believed,but it depends on the ceramic *** is vulnerable to oxidation in H_(2)O but it resists to CO_(2)in Ni-GDC,as compared to the Ni-YSZ *** by this observation we conceptualize and fabricate Ni-YSZ electrodes modified by ceria nanoparticles,which show significantly higher resistance to CO_(2)oxidation as compared with conventional Ni-YSZ *** preparation of tailormade cermet electrodes with identical bulk/mechanical characteristics but very different surface properties offers a promising fabrication strategy for high-performance and durability solid oxide electrolysis cells for CO_(2)conversion.

From trees to fleas: masting indirectly affects flea abundance on a rodent host

Mast seeding causes strongﬂuctuations in populations of forest ***,this phenomenon can be used as a natural experiment to examine how variation in host abundance affects parasite *** investigatedﬂeas infesting yellow-necked mice in beech forest after 2 mast and 2 non-mast *** tested 2 mutually exclusive scenarios:(1)as predicted by classical models of density-dependent transmission,an increase in host density will cause an increase in ectoparasite abundance(deﬁned as the number of parasites per host),versus(2)an increase in host density will cause a decline inﬂea abundance(“dilution,”which is thought to occur when parasite population growth is slower than that of the host).In addition,we assessed whether masting alters the relationship between host traits(sex and body mass)andﬂea *** found a hump-shaped relationship between host andﬂea ***,the most basic predictions are too simple to describe ectoparasite dynamics in this *** addition,masting modiﬁed seasonal dynamics ofﬂea abundance,but did not affect the relationship between host traits andﬂea abundance(individuals with the highest body mass hosted the mostﬂeas;after controlling for body mass,parasite abundance did not vary between sexes).Our results demonstrate that pulses of tree reproduction can indirectly,through changes in host densities,drive patterns of ectoparasite infestation.

Prediction of Thermal Behavior of Pyrolyzed Wet Biomass by Means of Model with Inner Wood Structure

A simplified one-dimensional transient model for biomass pyrolysis in a fixed bed cylindrical reactor has been formulated and experiments have been carried out to verify the calculation results regarding temperature distribution. The mathematical model accounts for mass, momentum and heat transfer, including moisture evaporation and convection of pyrolysis gases. Numerical simulation has allowed to predict temperature and heat flux distribution, and the dynamics of feedstock devolatilization. Special attention has been devoted to the analysis of the effect of biomass moisture content on the pyrolysis process. The model of moisture vaporization in biomass bed was proposed, which included structure of surface of biomass particles. Assuming that vaporization occurs on the border of the dry and wet areas of the bed, the flux of water vaporization depends on the specific surface area of the particles and overall heat flux.

BACKGROUND The overall risk of de novo malignancies in kidney transplant recipients(KTRs)is higher than that in the general *** is associated with long-lasting exposure to immunosuppressive agents and impaired oncological vigilance due to chronic kidney *** cancer(CRC),frequently diagnosed in an advanced stage,is one of the most common malignancies in this cohort and is associated with poor ***,because of the scarcity of data concerning adjuvant chemotherapy in this group,there are no clear guidelines for the specific management of the CRCs in *** present a patient who lost her transplanted kidney shortly after initiation of adjuvant chemotherapy for colon *** SUMMARY A 36-year-old woman with a medical history of kidney transplantation(2005)because of end-stage kidney disease,secondary to chronic glomerular nephritis,and long-term immunosuppression was diagnosed with locally advanced pT_(4A)N_(1B) M_(0)(clinical stage Ⅲ)colon adenocarcinoma *** right hemicolectomy,the patient was qualified to receive adjuvant chemotherapy that consisted of oxaliplatin,leucovorin and 5-fluorouracil(FOLFOX-4).The deterioration of kidney graft function after two cycles caused chemotherapy cessation and initiation ofhemodialysis therapy after a few months. Shortly after that, the patient started palliativechemotherapy because of cancer recurrence with intraperitoneal *** of adjuvant chemotherapy for colon cancer increases the risk of rapid kidney graft lossdriven also by under-immunosuppression。

An extensive analysis of iron-nitrogen-carbon(Fe-N-C)electrocatalysts synthesis and activity is presented concerning synthesis conditions such as initial Fe content,pyrolysis temperature and atmosphere(inert N_(2),reducing NH_(3),oxidizing Cl_(2) and their sequential combinations)and the influence of an external magnetic field on their performance in oxygen reduction reaction(ORR).Thermosetting porous polymers doped with FeCl_(3) were utilized as the Fe-N-C catalysts *** pyrolysis temperature was varied within a 700-900℃*** temperature and atmosphere of pyrolysis strongly affect the porosity and compositi on of the resultant Fe-N-C catalysts,while the in itial amount of Fe precursor shows much weaker *** under NH_(3) yields materials similar to those pyrolyzed under an inert atmosphere(N_(2)).In contrast,pyrolysis under Cl_(2) yields carbon of peculiar character with highly disordered structure and extensive *** application of a static external magnetic field strongly enhances the ORR process(herein studied in an alkaline environment)and the enhancement correlates with the Fe content in the Fe-N-C *** Fe-N-C materials containing ferromagnetic iron phase embedded in N-doped microporous carbon constitute attractive catalysts for magnetic field-aided anion exchange membrane fuel cell technology.

On Problems of Multicomponent System Maintenance Modelling

We present an overview of some recent developments in the area of mathematical modeling of maintenance decisions for multi-unit systems. The emphasis is on three main groups of multicomponent maintenance optimization models： the block replacement models, group maintenance models, and opportunistic maintenance models. Moreover, an example of a two-unit system maintenance process is provided in order to compare various maintenance policies.

Integration of chemical fractionation, M?ssbauer spectrometry, and magnetic methods for identification of Fe phases bonding heavy metals in street dust

Street dust is one of the most important carriers of heavy metals(HMs) originating from natural and anthropogenic sources. The main purpose of the work was to identify which of Fe-bearing phases bind HMs in street dust. Magnetic parameters of the Fe-bearing components, mainly magnetically strong iron oxides, are used to assess the level of HM *** sequential extraction combined with magnetic methods(magnetic susceptibility,magnetization, remanent magnetization) allowed determining the metal-bearing fractions and identifying the iron forms that are mostly associated with traffic-related HMs. The use of M?ssbauer spectrometry(MS) supplemented by magnetic methods(thermomagnetic curves and psarameters of hysteresis loops) enabled precise identification and characterization of iron-containing minerals. The classification of HMs into five chemical fractions differing in mobility and bioaccessibility revealed that iron is most abundant(over 95%) in the residual fraction followed by the reducible fraction. HMs were present in reducible fraction in the following order: Pb>Zn>Mn>Cr>Ni>Fe>Cu, while they bound to the residual fraction in the following order: Fe>Ni>Cr>Mn>Pb>Cu>Zn. The signature of the anthropogenic origin of street dust is the presence of strongly nonstoichiometric and defected grains of magnetite and their porous surface. Magnetite also occurs as an admixture with maghemite, and with a significant proportion of hematite. A distinctive feature of street dust is the presence of metallic iron and iron carbides. Magnetic methods are efficient in the screening test to determine the level of HM pollution, while MS helps to identify the iron-bearing minerals through the detection of iron.
