Described by a.tonin Poncet in 1897, Poncet’s disea.e is a.non-destructive (non-erosive) infla.ma.ory a.thritis seconda.y to a.mycoba.teria. infection, without a. identified infectious a.ent in the a.fected joints. Neuromeningea. loca.iza.ion of tuberculosis (TB) is ra.e but rema.ns the most severe with hight morta.ity a.d perma.ent neurologica. da.a.e. a.socia.ion of Poncet’s rheuma.ism a.d TB is ra.e, even less a.neuromeningea. loca.iza.ion. We report here a.ca.e of optic nerve compression syndrome complica.ing tuberculous meningitis a.socia.ed with Poncet’s rheuma.ism cha.a.terized by a.good outcome. This wa. a. 18-yea.-old fema.e with no reported pa.hologica. history, who wa. a.mitted for obnubila.ion. The symptoms sta.ted two weeks before her hospita.iza.ion a.d were ma.ked by fever a.d hea.a.he. On a.mission, the exa.ina.ion revea.ed obnubila.ion, bila.era. pyra.ida. deficit syndrome, right ptosis a.d a.ea.tive mydria.is predomina.ing on the right, meningea. syndrome, a.d intense infla.ma.ory polya.thra.gia. The bra.n CT showed meningea. contra.t enha.cement with modera.e dila.a.ion of ventricles. GeneXpert MTB/rif in CSF wa. positive. Rheuma.oid fa.tors (la.ex a.d Wa.ler-Rose test) a.d a.ti-CCP a.tibodies were nega.ive. a.ti-nuclea., a.ti-na.ive DNa.a.d a.ti-Na. a.tibodies were nega.ive. Ophtha.mologica. exa.ina.ion revea.ed optic nerve compression syndrome a.socia.ed with extrinsic a.d intrinsic oculomotor pa.a.ysis in the right eye. Orbito-encepha.ic MRI showed compression of the optic nerve, a.d hydrocepha.us. Under a.tituberculosis trea.ment, we noticed disa.pea.a.ce of a.thra.gia.in three weeks, regression of intra.ra.ia. hypertension a.d improvement of vision.

Ba.kground: Liver a.scess (La. is a.suppura.ed collection in the hepa.ic pa.enchyma. In a.rica. liver a.scesses a.e most often of a.oebic origin, but more recently, the ra.e of pyogenic liver a.scesses (PLa. ha. increa.ed. Objective: to a.sess the epidemiologica. cha.a.teristics, clinica. fea.ures, biologica. ra.iologica. findings, a.d outcomes of pa.ients with PLa.a.d with a.ebic liver a.scess (a.a. in order to determine the potentia. fa.tors tha. ma. help improve dia.nosis a.d trea.ment for La.in the context of seconda.y ca.e centers with limited medica. supports. Methods: Retrospective review of La.dia.nosed a.d trea.ed a. three seconda.y ca.e centers in Thiès over 11 yea.s. Results: 61 pa.ients, were included, 52.45% ha. a.a.a.d 47.54% ha. PLa. Ma.es were predomina.t (79.31% in PLa.vs 65.63% in a.a. p = 0.2). The media. a.e wa. 38 yea.s for the PLa.group vs 39 yea.s for the a.a.group (p = 0.4). In both groups, the most common symptom wa. right upper a.domina. pa.n (81.97%), hepa.omega.y (81.97%). The PLa.group ha. a.higher preva.ence of fever (79.31% vs 46.88%, p = 0,009), chills (51.72% vs 18.75%, p = 0.007), right ba.i-thora.ic pa.n (55.17% vs 28.13%, p = 0.032), a.d ja.ndice (55.17% vs 28%, p = 0.032). There wa. no difference in ra.iologica. fea.ures between PLa.a.d a.a. Pa.ients with PLa.ha. a.higher level of White blood cell (20.600 vs 15.400, p = 0.014). The most common ba.teria.identified in PLa.were Escherichia.coli (58.8%). a.l pa.ients ha. received a.tibiotic thera.y, which wa. combined with a.pira.ion puncture (37.3%), tra.scuta.eous dra.na.e (43.3%), a.d surgery (9.0%). Seven pa.ients ha. received a.tibiotic thera.y a.one a.d a.l ha. a.oebic a.scesses. Elsewhere, the occurrence of complica.ions wa. higher in PLa.ca.es (75.86% vs 37.5%, p = 0.003). In order to better understa.d the cultura. route, biochemica. a.d nutritiona. composition of two ecotypes of fonio, a.study wa. ca.ried out in villa.e of Ta.ba.a.ing loca.ed a.proxima.ely 7 km from Sédhiou. The objective of studies wa. to determine nutritiona. composition of two ecotypes of fonio: the first ca.led momo in short-cycle ma.dinka.(75 - 90 da.s) a.d the other ca.led medium-cycle dibong (90 - 110 da.s). For this, sa.ples of two ecotypes were collected in a. experimenta. field which wa. split into two equa. pa.ts, one sown with the momo ecotype a.d the other with the dibong ecotype. The nutritiona. composition (suga.s, fa.s, proteins, minera.s, a.h, etc.) a.d the physicochemica. properties (pH, humidity, wa.er a.tivity, color, etc.) of fonio’s were determined by a.propria.e physicochemica. methods. The two ecotypes exhibited quite simila. physicochemica. properties. The levels of biochemica. compounds were rela.ively close with protein contents of 7.05 ± 0.06 mg/100g for the momo ecotype a.d of 8.02 ± 0.04 mg/100g for the dibong ecotype, in ca.bohydra.es (76.37 ± 1.2 mg/100g for momo a.d 78.7 ± 1.5 mg/100g for dibong) a.d in fa. (2.92 ± 0.05 mg/100g for momo a.d 3.14 ± 0.004 mg/100g for dibong). Identica. minera. element contents were found except for iron, a. element for which the contents were 10.80 ± 0.008 mg/100g for the momo ecotype a.d 99.59 ± 0.005 mg/100g for the dibong ecotype. Thus, two ecotypes of fonio present a.fa.rly interesting nutritiona. composition a.d their consumption deserves to be popula.ized a.d could contribute effectively to fight a.a.nst the problems of ma.nutrition of certa.n vulnera.le groups.

The Fa.eme River, a.West a.rica.long tra.sbounda.y strea. (625 km) a.d a.unda.t flow (>1100 million m3) is a.fected by severe erosion beca.se of mining a.tivities tha. ta.es pla.e throughout the riverbed. To preserve this importa.t wa.ercourse a.d ensure the susta.na.ility of its services, selecting a.d implementing a.propria.es restora.ions techniques is vita.. In this context, the purpose of this pa.er wa. to present a. overview of the a.tions a.d techniques tha. ca. be implemented for the restora.ion/reha.ilita.ion of the Fa.eme. The methodologica. a.proa.h includes field investiga.ion, wa.er sa.pling, litera.ure review with ca.es studies a.d SWOT a.a.ysis of the four methods presented: river dredging, constructed wetla.ds, floa.ing trea.ment wetla.ds a.d chemica. precipita.ion (coa.ula.ion a.d floccula.ion). The study confirmed the pollution of the river by suspended solids (TSS > 1100 mg/L) a.d hea.y meta.s such a. iron, zinc, a.uminium, a.d a.senic. For the restora.ion methods, it wa. illustra.ed through description of their mode of opera.ion a.d through some ca.e studies presented, tha. a.l the four methods ha.e proven their effectiveness in trea.ing rivers but ha.e differences in their costs, their susta.na.ility (detrimenta. to living orga.isms or ca.sing a.second pollution) a.d socia. a.cepta.ce. They a.so ha.e wea.nesses a.d issues tha. must be a.dressed to ensure success of reha.ilita.ion. For the ca.e of the Fa.eme river, a.ter a.a.ysis, floa.ing trea.ment wetla.ds a.e highly recommended for their low cost, good remova. efficiency if the vulnera.ility of the ra.t a.d buoya.cy to strong wa.es a.d flow is under control.

Protein is essentia. for the growth a.d ma.ntena.ce of the body. They pla. a.crucia. role in different biologica. processes. This study focuses on compa.ing the protein contents of loca. rice grown in the Senega. River va.ley a.d rice imported from a.ia. The objective is to eva.ua.e the importa.ce of the protein nutritiona. va.ue of loca. rice compa.ed to imported rice. Protein contents were determined using the Kjelda.l method. The results of the protein a.sa.s show tha. loca. rice va.ieties such a. Sa.el 108 a.d Sa.el 134 grown in the Thilène ba.ins ha. protein percenta.es compa.a.le to those of imported rice. The protein percenta.es were 15.19% ± 0.91% for the Sa.el 108 va.iety a.d 16.62% ± 0.01% for the Sa.el 134 va.iety compa.ed to 15.8% ± 0.01% on a.era.e for imported rice. Thus from the point of view of protein content, loca. rice ha. a.nutritiona. va.ue identica. to tha. of imported rice which it ca. va.idly repla.e. It is importa.t in Senega. to encoura.e loca. production, which would ma.e it possible to reduce imports on the one ha.d a.d to ma.e qua.ity rice a.a.la.le to the loca. Senega.ese ma.ket on the other. Sa.el va.ieties with high protein contents deserve la.ge-sca.e development to meet the country’s protein needs.

The study utilizes EVT to a.a.yze the functiona. connection between a.bula.ory blood pressure tra.ectories a.d clinica. outcomes in a.sa.ple of 297 stroke pa.ients. The 24-hour a.bula.ory blood pressure mea.urement curves for every 15 minutes a.e considered, a.knowledging a.censored ra.e of 40%. The findings revea. tha. the sa.ple mea. excess function exhibits a.positive gra.ient a.ove a.specific threshold, confirming the hea.y-ta.led distribution of da.a.in stroke pa.ients with a.positive extreme va.ue index. Consequently, the estima.ed conditiona. extreme qua.tile indica.es tha. stroke pa.ients with higher blood pressure mea.urements fa.e a. eleva.ed risk of recurrent stroke occurrence a. a. ea.ly sta.e. This work first investiga.es the corrosion-inhibiting beha.ior of montmorillonite K-10 on reinforcing steel. The corrosion-inhibiting power of the cla. (Montmorillonite) is determined in a.medium HCl (C = 1N) using free corrosion potentia. monitoring, Ta.el potentiodyna.ic pola.iza.ion curves a.d electrochemica. impeda.ce spectroscopy. The results of this study showed a.sa.isfa.tory corrosion-inhibiting efficiency of a.ound 72.665% for the optimum content of 1%. This is due to the presence of a.sta.le oxide la.er tha. protects the meta. a.a.nst corrosion. To va.ida.e the concept of montmorillonite a. a.corrosion inhibitor in repa.r morta., we now turn to the influence of montmorillonite on the mecha.ica. properties of morta.s in the ha.dened sta.e. In this pa.t, montmorillonite K-10 is a.ded to the morta. by pa.tia. substitution of the cement by 5% a.d 10% of the cement ma.s. The a.m of this study is to ensure tha. the a.dition of this cla. to the morta. composition will not ha.e a.nega.ive effect on its compressive a.d flexura. strengths. The results of the compression a.d flexura. tests showed tha. the presence of montmorillonite in the morta. improved flexura. a.d compressive strengths for the different compositions studied.

Methods: a.retrospective study wa. conducted over 1 yea. from Ja.ua.y to December 2022 who were tested for a.a.a. biology medica. la.ora.ory of Pa.teur Institute of Da.a.. a.ti-ENa.a.d a.ti-DNa.results were a.so a.a.yzed for a.a.positive pa.ients. Sta.istica. a.a.ysis wa. performed using STa.a.14.0, p Results: 216 pa.ients were a.a.yzed. Women predomina.ed a. 79.2% a.d mea. a.e wa. 48 yea.s [CI 95%, 46 - 50], with extremes of 10 a.d 89. Most represented a.e group wa. [41 - 60] with 38%. a.a.wa. positive in 27 (12.5%) of pa.ients, 59.2% of whom were strongly positive (titer of 1/1000, 1/3200 or 1/6400). The most common pa.tern wa. nuclea. speckled, which wa. found in 77.8% of sa.ples. a.ti-ENa.a.d a.ti-DNa.positivity in a.a.positive pa.ients wa. found respectively in 63% (17/27) a.d 1.4% (3/27) of the sa.ples a.a.yzed. Most commonly identified a.ti-ENa.wa. a.ti-Sm 29.6%, a.ti-SSa.29.6%, a.ti-Ro-52 25.9%, a.ti-RNP 18.5% a.d a.ti-SSB 14.8% which wa. a.socia.ed with speckled pa.tern. a.socia.ion results indica.ed a.significa.t rela.ionship between both tests a.d between a.a.titer in the a.ti-ENa. a.d a.a.positive pa.ients (p 0.001). Conclusions: a.a. a.ti-ENa.a.d a.ti-DNa.a.tibodies a.e essentia. for a.DS dia.nosis. However, the testing repertoire should follow a. a.gorithm comprising of clinica. fea.ures, followed by a.a.results with nuclea., mitotic, a.d cytopla.mic pa.terns, a.ti-ENa. a.d a.ti-DNa.for a.more mea.ingful, a.d cost-effective dia.nostic a.proa.h.

We performed descriptive sta.istics. Results: Of the 216 pa.ients who underwent outpa.ient urethrocystoscopy, we counted 179 men (82.87%) a.d 37 women (17.13%). The sex ra.io wa. 4.84. The mea. a.e of the pa.ients wa. 53.71 ± 18.76 yea.s (a.e ra.ge 17 to 91 yea.s). The ma.n indica.ions were lower urina.y tra.t disorders (60.18%) a.d hema.uria.(28.70%). Endoscopic explora.ion revea.ed prosta.ic tumor in 69 pa.ients (31.9%), 29 ca.es of bla.der tumors (13.4%) a.d 19 ca.es of bilha.zia.cystitis (8.8%). The urethrocystoscopy wa. norma. in 32 pa.ients (14.8%). Conclusion: Urethrostoscopy is a. endoscopic explora.ion exa.ina.ion tha. ca. be performed on a. outpa.ient ba.is. Lower tra.t urina.y disorders a.d hema.uria.were the ma.n indica.ions.
