E_Breast: A Computerized Database Management System for Breast Diseases Patients in a Low Income Country

Objectives: To report our experience in using an electronic database for management of breast diseases in a developing country. Materials and methods: E-Breast is a database developed on FileMaker Pro Advanced to serve as patient file and breast diseases registry. The development of the platform, its usage and advantages on a manual filing system are described. Results: For 6 years, we use this database, which accounts more than 2000 patients and includes data from more than 10 years. An overview of the activity is easily generated by E-Breast. The generated reports are used to the routine care of patients, statistics and clinical research. Data entered are immediately useful in addition to simultaneously implement the database for clinical research. Many custom features are integrated. For research purposes, the system has the ability to perform detailed analyses on subsets defined by the user as breast cancer, breast benign diseases, etc. Conclusion: E-Breast has proven to be a useful way of documentation that has become an integral and essential part of the daily activity and also a valuable research tool.

Mathematical Modeling of Malaria Transmission Dynamics: Case of Burundi

Burundi, a country in East Africa with a temperate climate, has experienced in recent years a worrying growth of the Malaria epidemic. In this paper, a deterministic model of the transmission dynamics of malaria parasite in mosquito and human populations was formulated. The mathematical model was developed based on the SEIR model. An epidemiological threshold, R0, called the basic reproduction number was calculated. The disease-free equilibrium point was locally asymptotically stable if R0 R0 > 1. Using a Lyapunov function, we proved that this disease-free equilibrium point was globally asymptotically stable whenever the basic reproduction number is less than unity. The existence and uniqueness of endemic equilibrium were examined. With the Lyapunov function, we proved also that the endemic equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable if R0 > 1. Finally, the system of equations was solved numerically according to Burundi’s data on malaria. The result from our model shows that, in order to reduce the spread of Malaria in Burundi, the number of mosquito bites on human per unit of time (σ), the vector population of mosquitoes (Nv), the probability of being infected for a human bitten by an infectious mosquito per unit of time (b) and the probability of being infected for a mosquito per unit of time (c) must be reduced by applying optimal control measures.

本论文对tris(o-phenylenedioxy)cyclotriphosphazene(TPP),tris(8-hydroxyquinolinato)gallium(Gaq3)、相应的“CH”/N取代衍生物以及双核、单核Cu(Ⅰ)络合物—3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)pyrazole和bis(pyrazolyl)borate络合物的几何结构,电子结构,电子性质进行了量子化学研究。用ab initio HF和DFT(B3LYP)方法对具有多功能的材料TPP最优几何结构进行了基组相关性分析,分析结果表明引入极化函数可以更为准确地描述化合物的结构特征和电子结构特征。在B3LYP/6-31G(d)水平上优化的几何结构与晶体数据符合地非常好。对中性分子电子结构进行的研究表明前线分子轨道很大程度上定域在三个螺环侧基上,电荷的注入对分子结构的影响非常小,解释了分子结构的稳定性和微孔结构稳定性的原因。在此基础上,可以进一步进行特殊功能材料的分子设计。在Gaq3分子几何结构和光学性质的研究中发现,用带有弥散和极化函数的基组(6-31+G)以及考虑电子相关性的方法(DFT-B3LYP)可以准确地描述基态分子几何结构。在TD-B3LYP/3-21G水平上计算得到的λ和λ(分别为426和531nm)与理论实验值(分别为393和526nm)符合得最好,在TD-B3LYP/6-31+G水平上计算得到的Stokes位移(122nm)与实验值(133nm)符合得最好。对于相同的Mq3材料,我们的研究显示用Ga取代Al后,对光学性质的影响更多地归因于几何参数的变化而不是金属中心d轨道。因此对实验结果的解释提供了有力的理论依据。用DFT(B3LYP/6-31G)方法计算了“CH”/N取代Alq3和Gaq3中喹啉配体形成衍生物的平衡几何构型。在HF/6-31G水平对所有的化合物进行了FMO和能隙的计算。计算结果显示相对于分子母体,HOMO和LUMO是稳定的,能隙的增加/减小取决于取代基的位置。在TD-B3LYP/3-21G水平上估算了取代基对吸收和发射光谱的影响。例如5-取代 8-羟基喹啉衍生物的光谱发生了蓝移,4-取代 8-羟基喹啉衍生物的光谱发生了红移。同样7-和2-取代衍生物的光谱也发生了明显的蓝移和红移。同时也讨论了光谱位移与金属-配体键联之间的相关性。研究结果表明在配体上不同位置N杂原子的引入可以成为发光颜色调制的有效手段。用DFT研究了单核{HB[3,5-(CF3)Pz]M(2,4,6-Cn)},M,和双核{[3,5-(CF3)Pz]M(2,4,6-Cn)},M(其中M=Cu,Ag;Pz=Pyrazine,Cn=Collidine)的基态与激发态。用B3LYP方法计算了分子的电子性质,用TD-B3LYP方法计算了单重激发态和三重激发态能量。对于Cu,Cu,Ag和Ag来说,计算得到的最低单重态(三重态)能量分别为3.57(3.36),3.72(3.53),4.86(4.44)和4.54(3.96)eV。因为两个最高占据分子轨道(Cu和Cu:68-72.8%,Ag和Ag:43.5-48.5%)具有金属d特征,计算得到的所有的跃迁可以归属为MLCT跃迁。对络合物的发射光谱进行分析可知,三重态仅定域在可见区域,发射波长分别为418.55nm(Cu),420.50nm(Cu)和423.15nm(Ag),与

Modeling and Characterization of Fine Particulate Matter Dynamics in Bujumbura Using Low-Cost Sensors

Air pollution is a result of multiple sources including both natural and anthropogenic activities. The rapid urbanization of the cities such as Bujumbura, economic capital of Burundi, is one of these factors. The very first characterization of the spatio-temporal variability of PM2.5 in Bujumbura and the forecasting of PM2.5 concentration have been conducted in this paper using data collected during a year, from August 2022 to August 2023, by low-cost sensors installed in Bujumbura city. For each commune, an hourly, daily and seasonal analysis was carried out and the results showed that the mass concentrations of PM2.5 in the three municipalities differ from one commune to another. The average hourly and annual PM2.5 concentrations exceed the World Health Organization standards. The range is between 28.3 and 35.0 μg/m3. In order to make a prediction of PM2.5 concentration, an investigation of Recurrent Neural Networks with Long Short-Term Memory has been undertaken.
