A Saliency Based Image Fusion Framework for Skin Lesion Segmentation and Classification

Melanoma,due to its higher mortality rate,is considered as one of the most pernicious types of skin cancers,mostly affecting the white populations.It has been reported a number of times and is now widely accepted,that early detection of melanoma increases the chances of the subject’s survival.Computer-aided diagnostic systems help the experts in diagnosing the skin lesion at earlier stages using machine learning techniques.In thiswork,we propose a framework that accurately segments,and later classifies,the lesion using improved image segmentation and fusion methods.The proposed technique takes an image and passes it through two methods simultaneously;one is the weighted visual saliency-based method,and the second is improved HDCT based saliency estimation.The resultant image maps are later fused using the proposed image fusion technique to generate a localized lesion region.The resultant binary image is later mapped back to the RGB image and fed into the Inception-ResNet-V2 pre-trained model-trained by applying transfer learning.The simulation results show improved performance compared to several existing methods.

Automated White Blood Cell Disease Recognition Using Lightweight Deep Learning

White blood cells(WBC)are immune system cells,which is why they are also known as immune cells.They protect the human body from a variety of dangerous diseases and outside invaders.The majority of WBCs come from red bone marrow,although some come from other important organs in the body.Because manual diagnosis of blood disorders is difficult,it is necessary to design a computerized technique.Researchers have introduced various automated strategies in recent years,but they still face several obstacles,such as imbalanced datasets,incorrect feature selection,and incorrect deep model selection.We proposed an automated deep learning approach for classifying white blood disorders in this paper.The data augmentation approach is initially used to increase the size of a dataset.Then,a Darknet-53 pre-trained deep learning model is used and finetuned according to the nature of the chosen dataset.On the fine-tuned model,transfer learning is used,and features engineering is done on the global average pooling layer.The retrieved characteristics are subsequently improved with a specified number of iterations using a hybrid reformed binary grey wolf optimization technique.Following that,machine learning classifiers are used to classify the selected best features for final classification.The experiment was carried out using a dataset of increased blood diseases imaging and resulted in an improved accuracy of over 99%.

Scheduling a sports tournament is a complex optimization problem,which requires a large number of hard constraints to satisfy.Despite the availability of several such constraints in the literature,there remains a gap sincemost of the new sports events pose their own unique set of requirements,and demand novel constraints.Specifically talking of the strictly time bound events,ensuring fairness between the different teams in terms of their rest days,traveling,and the number of successive games they play,becomes a difficult task to resolve,and demands attention.In this work,we present a similar situation with a recently played sports event,where a suboptimal schedule favored some of the sides more than the others.We introduce various competitive parameters to draw a fairness comparison between the sides and propose a weighting criterion to point out the sides that enjoyed this schedule more than the others.Furthermore,we use root mean squared error between an ideal schedule and the actual ones for each side to determine unfairness in the distribution of rest days across their entire schedules.The latter is crucial,since successively playing a large number of games may lead to sportsmen burnout,which must be prevented.

Performance, Immune, and Carcass Characteristics of Broiler Chickens as Affected by Thyme and Licorice or Enzyme Supplemented Diets

Numbers of 300 day-old broiler chickens through a CRD design with 5 treatments, 3 replicates and 20 chicks in each pen were used to evaluate the effect of thyme (T), licorice (L), thyme + licorice (TL), and enzyme supplemented (E) diets on performance, immune and carcass characteristics. According to the results, performance traits, immune indices, and carcass traits in herbal medicine and enzyme supplemented diets were improved significantly than control diet (P < 0.05). Weight gain and FCR in T and E groups were significantly higher and lower than other groups respectively (P < 0.05). Internal organs such as abdominal fat and liver weight as indicators of lipogenesis rate were decreased in T, L, and TL diets than control or E diet significantly (P < 0.05). Immune organs such as burse and spleen weight as indicators of immune situation were increased in TL diet than other treatments significantly (P < 0.05). These findings indicated that thyme and licorice singly or in combination as organic herbal medicine can affect performance, carcass and immune characteristics. Also an improved immune organ such as burse or spleen in this study indicates that this herbal medicine can promote the immune situation and efficacy of health and livability.
