Investigation of two coronal mass ejections from circular ribbon source region:Origin,Sun-Earth propagation and Geoeffectiveness

In this article,we compare the properties of two coronal mass ejections(CmEs)that show similar source region characteristics but different evolutionary behaviors in the later *** discuss the two events in terms of their near-Sun characteristics,interplanetary evolution and *** carefully analyzed the initiation and propagation parameters of these events to establish the precise CmEinterplanetary CmE(ICmE)connection and their near-Earth *** first event is associated with poor geomagnetic storm disturbance index(Dst≈-20 n T)while the second event is associated with an intense geomagnetic storm of DST≈-119 n *** configuration of the sunspots in the active regions and their evolution are observed by helioseismic and magnetic Imager(hmI).For source region imaging,we rely on data obtained from Atmospheric Imaging Assembly(AIA)on board Solar Dynamics Observatory(SDO)and hαfiltergrams from the Solar Tower Telescope at Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences(ARIES).For both the CmEs,flux rope eruptions from the source region triggered flares of similar intensities(≈m1).At the solar source region of the eruptions,we observed a circular ribbon flare(CRF)for both cases,suggesting fan-spine magnetic configuration in the active region *** multi-channel SDO observations confirm that the eruptive flares and subsequent CmEs were intimately related to the filament *** the Large Angle and Spectrometric Coronograph(LASCO)field of view(FOV)the two CmEs propagated with linear speeds of 671 and 631 km s-1,*** CmEs were tracked up to the Earth by Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory(STEREO)*** find that the source region evolution of CmEs,guided by the large-scale coronal magnetic field configuration,along with near-Sun propagation characteristics,such as CmE-CmE interactions,played important roles in deciding the evolution of CmEs in the interplanetary medium and subsequently their geoeffec

The melanophila acuminata beetle is attracted to forest fires via a pair of infrared sensory organs composed of sensilla. Our histological work showed that each sensillum contains lipid layers surrounding a protein layer and a unique polysaccharide base that is associated with a neuron to each sensillum. Infrared microscopy showed that the protein region maximally absorbs infrared radiation at 3 ~tm wavelength and at 10 ~tm, which corresponds to the known radiation produced by forest fires at 3 ~tm. mathematical calculations showed that the physical properties of the sensilla are such that the expected temperature rise is insufficient for transduction of the infrared signal through mechanical means or as a thermal receptor as previously thought; hence the protein plays the pivotal role in perception of single photons and transmission of the signal within the sensilla.

Bioactivity of seagrass against the dengue fever mosquito Aedes aegypti larvae

Cryptosporidium parvum oocyst directed assembly of gold nanoparticles and graphene oxide

Understanding the interactions between inorganic nanomaterials and biological species is an important topic for surface and environmental chemistry. In this work, we systematically studied the oocysts of Cryptosporidium pa r v u m as a model protozoan parasite and its interaction with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and graphene oxide (GO). The as-prepared citrate-capped AuNPs adsorb strongly on the oocysts leading to a vivid color change. The adsorption of the AuNPs was confirmed by transmission electron microscopy. heat treatment fully inhibited the color change, indicating a large change of surface chemistry of the oocysts that can be probed by the AuNPs. Adding proteases such as trypsin and proteinase K partially inhibited the color change. DNA-capped AuNPs, on the other hand, could not be adsorbed by the oocysts. GO was found to wrap around the oocysts forming a conformal shell reflecting the shape of the oocysts. Both citratecapped AuNPs and GO compromised the membrane integrity of the oocysts as indicated by the propidium iodide staining experiment, and they may be potentially used for inactivating the oocysts. This is the first example of using nanomaterials to probe the surface of the oocysts, and it suggests the possibility of using such organisms to template the assembly of nanomaterials.

A facile access for the synthesis of some C-2 substituted imidazopyrazines by utilizing the palladium catalyzed Suzuki cross-coupling reaction under microwave irradiation

A rapid, efficient, and facile synthesis of an assortment of C-2 substituted imidazopyrazines has been achieved by utilizing the palladium catalyzed Suzuki cross-coupling of 2-bromo-1h-imidazo[4,5-b]pyrazine with various boronic acids under microwave irradiation. The utilization of（A-^（ta）phos）_2PdCl_2 as a catalyst in combination with Cs F as base and DmE-h_2O（4：1） as the solvent system at 100℃ procured the diaryls in acceptable to excellent yields. Prominent features of this developed methodology include short reaction times, fewer side products, and exceptional tolerance to a wide variety of functional groups.

A meta-analysis of 1-year outcomes of transcatheter versus surgical aortic valve replacement in low-risk patients with severe aortic stenosis

Background Transcatheter aortic valve replacement(TAVR)for the treatment symptomatic severe aortic stenosis(AS)is indicated in patients with intermediate or higher surgical *** trials showed TAVR,and surgical aortic valve replacement(SAVR)perform similarly at 1-year for the composite outcomes of mortality,stroke and *** performed a comprehensive meta-analysis to compare individual outcomes at 1-year for TAVR compared to SAVR in low-risk *** Pub med,Embase,and Cochrane central were searched for all the randomized controlled trials(RCTs)that reported 1-year comparative outcomes of TAVR and surgical aortic valve replacement(SAVR).Our conclusions are based upon the random-effects model using Der Simonian-Laird *** Data from 4 trials and 2887 randomized patients showed that TAVR had lower rates of all-cause mortality,cardiovascular mortality,and atrial fibrillation compared to SAVR at 1-year follow-up(Ph a significantly higher risk of permanent pacemaker implantation and moderate-severe paravalvular leak(Phe latest randomised trial data demonstrates that in short-term,TAVR is safe and effective in reducing all-cause mortality or *** follow-up of RCTs is needed to determine the durability of clinical benefits in TAVR over SAVR in low-risk patients.

LC-mS/mS method for Determination of Colistin in human Plasma: Validation and Stability Studies

A simple and reliable high performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-mS/mS) assay for the determination of colistin A and colistin B in human plasma was developed and validated. Clarithromycin was used as an internal standard (IS). Plasma extraction was performed using C-18 cartridges and methanol containing 0.1% formic acid. Analysis was performed using Atlantis dC18 (2.1 × 100 mm, 3 μm) column at room temperature and a mobile phase of 0.2% formic acid in acetonitrile and water (50:50, v:v), delivered at a flow rate of 0.2 ml/minute. Eluent was detected in the positive ion mode using electrospray ionization at the following transitions of mass to charge (m/z): colistin A, 585.6 → 101.4;colistin B, 578.7 → 101.3;and IS, 748.6 → 158.4. No interference by components of blank plasma or commonly used drugs was observed. The relationship between colistin A colistin B concentrations and their corresponding peak height ratios to the IS was linear over the range of 0.05 - 10 μg/ml. Inter-day coefficient of variation and bias were, respectively, ≤11.5% and −3.0 to 6.0 for colistin A and ≤9.9 and −4.7 to 3.0 for colistin B. mean extraction recovery of colistin A, colistin B, and the IS were 97%, 94%, and 97%, respectively. The method was applied to assess the stability of colistin A and colistin B in processed samples (24 hr. at room temperature, 48 hours at −20°C) and unprocessed samples (24 hr. at room temperature, 8 weeks at −20°C) and after three cycles of freeze and thaw found to be ≥87%.

Nanodiamond films deposited at moderate temperature on pure titanium substrate pretreated by ultrasonic scratching in diamond powder suspension

Nanocrystalline diamond （NCD） film deposition on pure titanium and Ti alloys is extraordinarily difficult because of the high diffusion coefficient of carbon in Ti, the large mismatch in their thermal expansion coefficients, the complex nature of the interlayer formed during diamond deposition, and the difficulty to achieve very high nucleation density. In this investigation, NCD films were successfully deposited on pure Ti substrate by using a novel substrate pretreatment of ultrasonic scratching in a diamond powder-ethanol suspension and by a two-step process at moderate temperature. It was shown that by scratching with a 30-μm diamond suspension for 1 h, followed by a 10-h diamond deposition, a continuous NCD film was obtained with an average grain size of about 200 nm. Detailed experimental results on the preparation, characterization, and successful deposition of the NCD films on Ti were discussed.
