Factors Promoting Retention of Nurses in Three Private Hospitals of Lahore: A Cross Sectional Descriptive Survey

Introduction: Pakistan has a large number of professional nurses but a higher rate of turnover contributes towards the shortage of nurses which is intensified by nurses’ immigration, lack of recruitment of new nurses and retirement of senior nurses. Aim: The study aimed at examining the factors that increase retention of nurses. Research Method: The study is descriptive cross sectional with a sample of 150 nurses including both the genders, from 3 private hospitals located in Pakistan. A convenient sampling technique was used. The data collection was done through close ended questionnaires based on 20 questions. Data collection was done quantitatively and then data was entered in SPSS. Correlation and regression tests were performed. Findings: The analysis revealed that 91.3% nurses are loyal to their hospitals but, 8.7%nurses can switch the hospital for different reasons. It was also found that the idea of leaving the job based on the intention of moving to abroad and public sector was higher than the retirement and other causes. Resultantly, enhancements in nurses’ work environments have the ability to decrease nurses’ job burnout and turnover and increase patients’ satisfaction. Recommendations: Hospital leaders should implement effective strategies to encourage nurses to continue their job by motivation, strengthening management skills within the hospital and improving a positive work environment by promoting teamwork, continuous learning, trust, respect and flexible arrangements which can lead towards achieving better ***, further studies quantitatively and qualitatively can explore more factors related to dissatisfaction of nurses. Health systems policy makers should lead by developing related strategies for the retention of nurses.

Light-driven dry reforming of methane toward syngas presents a proper solution for alleviating climate change and for the sustainable supply of transportation fuels and ***,Rh/InGaN_(1-x)O_(x) nanowires supported by silicon wafer are explored as an ideal platform for loading Rh nanoparticles,thus assembling a new nanoarchitecture for this grand *** combination with the remarkable photothermal synergy,the O atoms in Rh/InGaN_(1-x)O_(x) can significantly lower the apparent activation energy of dry reforming of methane from 2.96 eV downward to 1.70 *** as-designed Rh/InGaN_(1-x)O_(x) NWs nanoarchitecture thus demonstrates a measurable syngas evolution rate of 180.9 mmol g_(cat)^(-1) h^(-1) with a marked selectivity of 96.3% under concentrated light illumination of 6 W cm^(-2).What is more,a high turnover number(TON)of 4182 mol syngas per mole Rh has been realized after six reuse cycles without obvious activity *** correlative 18O isotope labeling experiments,in-situ irradiated X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(ISI-XPS)and in-situ diffuse reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy characterizations,as well as density functional theory calculations reveal that under light illumination,Rh/InGaN_(1-x)O_(x) NWs facilitate releasing^(*)CH_(3) and H^(+)from CH_(4) by holes,followed by H_(2) evolution from H^(+)reduction with ***,the O atoms in Rh/InGaN_(1-x)O_(x) can directly participate in CO generation by reacting with the ^(*)C species from CH_(4) dehydrogenation and contributes to the coke elimination,in concurrent formation of O *** resultant O vacancies are then replenished by CO_(2),showing an ideal chemical *** work presents a green strategy for syngas production via light-driven dry reforming of methane.

BACkGROUND In severe cases of coronary artery disease,percutaneous coronary intervention provide promising *** stent used could be a drug-eluting stent(DES)or a titanium-nitride-oxide coated stent(TiNOS).AIM To compare the 5-year effectiveness and safety of the two stent *** The following systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted in accordance with the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analysis guidelines,and PubMed/MEDLINE,Scopus,and Cochrane Central were searched from inception till August *** outcomes were major adverse cardiac events(MACE),cardiac death,myocardial infarction(MI),cardiac death or MI,and ischemia-driven total lesion revascularization(ID-TLR).RESULTS Four randomized controlled trials(RCT),which analyzed a sum total of 3045 patients with acute coronary syndrome(ACS)after a median follow-up time of 5 years were *** statistically insignificant,an increase in the ID-TLR was observed in patients receiving TiNOSs vs *** addition,MI,cardiac death and MI,and definite stent thrombosis(DST)were significantly decreased in the TiNOS *** analysis revealed no significant results with meta-regression presenting non-ST elevated MI(NSTEMI)as a statistically significant covariate in the outcome of *** TiNOS was found to be superior to DES in terms of MI,cardiac death or MI,and DST outcomes,however,the effect of the two stent types on ID-TLR and MACE was not significant.A greater number of studies are required to establish an accurate comparison of patient outcomes in TiNOS and DES.

可将热量转化为电能的柔性热电（thermoelectric,TE）材料已广泛应用于可穿戴电子设备和其他柔性设备中。该研究将无机TE柱与热塑性聚氨酯（thermoplastic polyurethane,TPU）结合,组装成柔性条状热电器（thermoelectric generator,TEG）,进一步用于热电织物（thermoelectric fabric,TEF）的织造。采用有限元分析（finite element analysis,FEA）优化柔性TE条的尺寸并评估其性能。FEA的结果显示,TE条的间距对温差、输出电压和内阻有显著影响。当TE条直径为3.5 mm、条间距为2 mm时,可获得最大功率密度,达到3.43μW·cm-2（在温差ΔT=10.5 k的条件下）。在实验条件下,热板接触以及铜线-TE条连接处存在倾斜度,导致所织造的三维TEF的功率密度只能达到模拟结果的29%。尽管如此,在经过450次弯曲测试后,TE条仍展现出优异的柔韧性和稳定的机械性能。这一研究不仅为今后开发更高效的TEF奠定了基础,还为可穿戴式能量采集应用提供了更加舒适、合身的选择方案。

Cardiac amyloidosis(CA)is caused by deposition of amyloid fibrils in the myocardium and has two main sub-types,transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis(ATTR)and immunoglobulin light chain cardiac amyloidosis(AL).ATTR is further dif-ferentiated into wild-type(wtATTR)and hereditary(hATTR),depending on the absence or presence of mutation in the trans-thyretin *** increased recognition of disease with the improvement in diagnostic armamentarium and serendipitous ad-vancements in the therapeutic landscape have changed the status of CA from being a rare and untreatable disease to being a not-so-rare and treatable *** ATTR and AL have certain clinical aspects that can provide early clues for the *** electrocardiography followed by echocardiography and subsequently cardiac magnetic resonance can raise suspicion for CA,the definitive diagnosis of ATTR is non-invasively established by bone scintigraphy while that of AL always needs histological *** of CA can be gauged by serum biomarker-based staging of both ATTR and *** therapies work by silen-cing or stabilizing TTR or by degrading amyloid fibrils,while AL is managed with anti-plasma cell therapies and autologous stem cell transplant.
