Triadimefon(TDM)and cyproconazole(CPZ)are two triazoles widely used as *** azoles were synthe-sised starting from commercial TDM and *** compounds were evaluated against phytopathogenic filamentous fungi,including Aspergillus fumigatus(AF),***(AN),***(AU),***(AJ),***(AT),Fusarium oxyspo-rum and Botrytis cinerea isolated from grapevine in the province of San Juan,*** of the synthesised compounds(1-(Biphenyl-4-yloxy)-3,3-dimethyl-1-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)butan-2-one,1;2-(Biphenyl-4-yl)-3-cyclopropyl-1-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)butan-2-ol,3;3-Cyclopropyl-2-(4’-fluorobiphenyl-4-yl)-1-(1H-1,2,4-triazol1-yl)butan-2-ol,4)presented remarkable in vitro fungicidal properties,with better effects than TDM and CPZ on some of the target *** was assessed using human lung fibroblasts *** 1,with IC50 values of 389.4μM,was less toxic towards MRC-5 human lung fibroblasts than commercial TDM(248.5μM)and CPZ(267.4μM).Docking analysis and molecular dynamics simulations suggest that the compounds present the same interaction in the binding pocket of the CYP51B enzyme and with the same amino acids as *** derivatives investigated could be considered broad-spectrum but with some selectivity towards imperfect fungi.

AIM:To investigate the presence of high-risk human papilloma virus (HPV) in esophageal squamous cell carcinomas (ESCCs) in a non-selected Mexican ***: Cases with a pathological diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus were obtained from Department of Pathology files, at the National Cancer Institute in Mexico City during the period between 2000 and 2008. Slides from each case were reviewed and cases with sufficient neoplastic tissue were selected for molecular analysis. DNA was extracted from paraffin-embedded tissue samples for polymerase chain reaction analysis to detect HPV DNA sequences. Demographic and clinical data of each patient were retrieved from corresponding clinical ***: HPV was detected in 15 (25%) of ESCCs. HPV-16 was the most frequently observed genotype, followed by HPV-18; HPV-59 was also detected in one case. Unfortunately, HPV genotype could not be established in three cases due to lack of material for direct sequencing, although universal primers detected the presence of HPV generic sequences. No low-risk HPV genotypes were found nor was HPV-16/18 co-infection. HPV presence in ESCC was not significantly associated with gender, age, alcohol consumption, smoking, anatomic location, or histologic grade. All patients belonged to low and very low socioeconomic strata, and were diagnosed at advanced disease stage. Male patients were most commonly affected and the male:female ratio in HPV-positive ESCC increased two- fold in comparison with HPV-negative cases (6.5:1 vs 3.1:1).CONCLUSION: High prevalence of high-risk HPV in ESCC in Mexico does not support the hypothesis that HPV-associated ESCC is more common in areas with higher ESCC incidence rates.

Introduction:Huemul(Hippocamelus bisulcus Molina)is the most threatened flag species of Southern Patagonia,where conservation efforts were not effective to avoid the retraction of its distribution *** quality modeling can assist to design better management strategies for regional conservation *** objective was to elaborate one habitat suitability map for huemul,defining the environmental characteristics at landscape level,and determining the distribution of the suitable habitat inside the current natural reserve ***:We used a database of 453 records and explored 40 potential explanatory variables(climate,topographic,and landscape variables including human-related ones)to develop one habitat suitability map using the Environmental Niche Factor Analysis(ENFA)for Santa Cruz province(Argentina).We combined the outputs in a GIS project using different shapes,including the current natural reserve ***:We defined the potential habitat for huemul,where forest edges and ecotone zones(e.g.,mainly alpine environments)were the most important environmental variables,as well as some forest types(e.g.,Nothofagus pumilio).Habitat losses were found in the extreme potential distribution areas(northern and southern areas),probably related to the increasing ranch *** current natural reserve network maintains approximately half of the huemul potential habitat in Santa Cruz province,where National Parks presented the similar conservation importance than the Provincial natural ***:Habitat suitability model for huemul can be used as a decision support system for new management strategies at different landscape levels to improve the current conservation efforts.

Loneliness is considered a public health problem that negatively affects wellbeing,especially in the older *** Latin-American countries,most of the older population live with their *** this is thought to diminish feelings of loneliness,there is scarce data to support *** objective of this study is to determine the prevalence of loneliness and evaluate its association with objective social networks,family functioning and perception of social support,in a sample of older people from Santiago,Chile.A survey was conducted of a representative sample of community older people(60–97 years)from Santiago,Chile,using the UCLA abbreviated scale of *** regression was performed to test the variables related to the loneliness of older people.A total of 1,217 older people were interviewed.88%were living with at least one person at home and 92%had living *** the UCLA abbreviated scale,45%were found to perceive feelings of loneliness at least some of the *** regression showed significant association between loneliness and family dysfunction;depressive symptoms;living alone;not having a partner(widowed,separated or single);having little contact with relatives and friends;feeling a lack of social support;and sensation of poor *** is a prevalent public health problem in this older Latin-American *** accompanied does not protect against loneliness,particularly in vulnerable groups such as those with depression,or when there are family conﬂ*** high prevalence of loneliness strongly conveys the need for public health policies to address loneliness in older people.

The epi material growth of GaAsSb based DHBTs with InAlAs emitters are investigated using a 4×100mm multi-wafer production Riber 49 MBE reactor fully equipped with real-time in-situ sensors including an absorption band edge spectroscope and an optical-based flux *** state-of-the-art hole mobilities are obtained from 100nm thick carbon-doped GaAsSb.A Sb composition variation of less than ±0.1 atomic percent across a 4×100mm platen configuration has been *** large area InAlAs/GaAsSb/InP DHBT device demonstrates excellent DC characteristics,such as BV_CEO>6V and a DC current gain of 45 at 1kA/cm2 for an emitter size of 50μm×50μ*** devices have a 40nm thick GaAsSb base with p-doping of 4.5×*** with an emitter size of 4μm×30μm have a current gain variation less than 2% across the fully processed 100mm wafer.f_t and f_max are over 50GHz,with a power efficiency of 50%,which are comparable to standard power GaAs HBT *** results demonstrate the potential application of GaAsSb/InP DHBT for power amplifiers and the feasibility of multi-wafer MBE for mass production of GaAsSb-based HBTs.

Fragmentation patterns and systematic transitions of the forested landscape in the upper Amazon region, Ecuador 1990-2008

The analysis of the systematic transitions in the forested landscape and the study of the forest fragmentation patterns allow us to deepen our understanding of the changes in the vegetation ground cover. The importance of knowing the intricate patterns of the land usage of the upper basin of the Amazon region is widely recognized. This zone is one of the most diverse biological areas in the world, is home to large areas of mature tropical cloud forest and demonstrates high probabilities of stable climatic conditions in light of global warming. The research quan- tiffed systematic transitions through the ＂loss＂ and ＂gain＂ of the different categories of landscape during the eighteen-year study period of the Ecuadorian Amazon Region （EAR）, the forest fragmentation patterns were also analyzed based on a set of indicators. Therefore, with respect to the entirety of the landscape, the results registered for the ground coverage in forested areas during the first period （1990-2000）, show a decrease of 6.99% and an increase of 0.68%; and during the second period （2000-2008）, show a decrease of 3.99% and an increase of 2.14%. It demonstrated that forest and agricultural areas tended to replace or be replaced by herbaceous vegetation faster than expected fortuitously. Finally, the indices of fragmentation signaled intense changes during the 1990-2000 period with a reduction during the period 2000-2008. Per- centages registered in the Largest Patch Index （LPI） were between 79.58%; 52.39% and 49.99% respectively; while the Patch Density （PD） varied between 0.04; 0.06 and 0.07. This suggests the propensity of for- est cover to remain intact. The results of this investigation suggest a tendency towards stability in Ecuador＇s Amazon landscape. Within the framework for development and management of this area, the tendency is natural regeneration. Background： Understory plants represents the largest component of biodiversity in most forest ecosystems and plays a key role in forest *** their importance, the influence of overstory-layer composition on understory plant diversity is relatively poorly understood within deciduous-evergreen broadleaved mixed *** aim of this work was to evaluate how tree overstory-layer composition influences on understory-layer diversity in three forest types（monospecific deciduous Nothofagus pumilio（Np）, monospecific evergreen Nothofagus betuloides（Nb）, and mixed ***（M） forests）, comparing also between two geographical locations（coast and mountain） to estimate differences at landscape ***： We recorded 46 plant species： 4 ferns, 12 monocots, and 30 ***-layer composition influences the herb-layer structure and diversity in two different ways： while mixed forests have greater similarity to evergreen forests in the understory structural features, deciduous and mixed were similar in terms of the specific composition of plant *** pure stands were the most diverse, meanwhile evergreen stands were least *** of exclusive species of mixed forest could represent a transition where evergreen and deciduous communities meet and ***, landscape has a major influence on the structure, diversity and richness of understory vegetation of pure and mixed forests likely associated to the magnitude and frequency of natural disturbances, where mountain forest not only had highest herb-layer diversity but also more exclusive ***： Our study suggests that mixed Nothofagus forest supports coexistence of both pure deciduous and pure evergreen understory plant species and different assemblages in coastal and mountain *** the mixture of canopy patch types within mixed stands will be important for conserving the natural patterns of understory plant composition in southern beech mixe

We review recent developments in the use of magnetic lattices as a complementary tool to optical lattices for trapping periodic arrays of ultracold atoms and degenerate quantum gases. Recent advances include the realisation of Bose–Einstein condensation in multiple sites of a magnetic lattice of one-dimensional microtraps, the trapping of ultracold atoms in square and triangular magnetic lattices,and the fabrication of magnetic lattice structures with submicron period suitable for quantum tunnelling ***, we describe a proposal to utilise long-range interacting Rydberg atoms in a large spacing magnetic lattice to create interactions between atoms on neighbouring sites.
