In this editorial,we comment on the article by Zhou et *** study reveals the connection between ferrop.osis and p.rop.osis and the effect of silent information regulator sirtuin 1(SIRT1)activation in acute liver failure(ALF).ALF is characterized by a sudden and severe liver injury resulting in significant hep.tocyte damage,often p.sing a high risk of *** p.edominant form of hep.tic cell death in ALF involves ap.p.osis,ferrop.osis,autop.agy,p.rop.osis,and *** p.roxidase 4(Gp.4)inhibition sensitizes the cell to ferrop.osis and triggers cell death,while Gasdermin D(GSDMD)is a mediator of *** study showed that ferrop.osis and p.rop.osis in ALF are regulated by blocking the p.3/Gp.4/GSDMD p.thway,bridging the gap.between the two *** inhibition of p.3 elevates the levels of Gp.4,reducing the levels of inflammatory and liver injury markers,ferrop.otic events,and GSDMDN p.otein *** p.3 exp.ession and increased Gp.4 on deletion of GSDMD indicated ferrop.osis and p.rop.osis ***1 is a NAD-dep.ndent deacetylase,and its activation attenuates liver injury and inflammation,accomp.nied by reduced ferrop.osis and p.rop.osis-related p.oteins in ***1 activation also inhibits the p.3/Gp.4/GSDMD axis by inducing p.3 acetylation,attenuating Lp./D-GalN-induced ALF.

AIM： To determine the p.evalence of hep.titis B and C virus infections in human immunodeficiency virus （HIV） -p.sitive p.tients at a tertiary care hosp.tal in New Delhi, India. METHODS： Serum samp.es from 451 HIV p.sitive p.tients were analyzed for HBsAg and HCV antibodies during three years （Jan 2003-Dec 2005）. The control group.comp.ised of ap.arently healthy bone-marrow and renal donors. RESULTS： The study p.p.lation comp.ised essentially of heterosexually transmitted HIV infection. The p.evalence Fate of HBsAg in this p.p.lation was 5.3% as comp.red to 1.4% in ap.arently healthy donors （p.〈 0.001）. Though p.evalence of HCV co-infection （2.43%） was lower than HBV in this group.of HIV p.sitive p.tients, the p.evalence was significantly higher （p.〈 0.05） than controls （0.7%）. Trip.e infection of HIV, HBV and HCV was not detected in any p.tient. CONCLUSION： Our study shows a significantly high p.evalence of hep.titis virus infections in HIV infected p.tients. Hep.titis viruses in HIV may lead to faster p.ogression to liver cirrhosis and a higher risk of antiretroviral therap. induced hep.totoxicity. Therefore, it would be advisable to detect hep.titis virus coinfections in these p.tients at the earliest.

Rep.acement of p.osp.oric acid electrolyte by p.osp.osilicate gel based electrolytes is p.op.sed for p.rformance enhancement of p.osp.oric acid fuel cell(p.FC).p.osp.osilicate gel in p.ste form and in p.wder form is synthesized from tetraethoxysilane and orthop.osp.oric acid using sol-gel method for two different p.Si ratio of 5 and 1.5 *** of p.osp.oric acid electrolyte by p.osp.osilicate gel p.ste enhances the p.ak p.wer generation of the fuel cell by 133% at 120 ℃ cell temp.rature;increases the voltage generation in the ohmic regime and extends the maximum p.ssible load *** alcohol(p.A) is used to bind the p.osp.osilicate gel p.wder and to form the hybrid crosslinked gel p.lymer electrolyte *** the membrane with p.osp.oric acid solution,instead of that with water imp.oves the p.oton conductivity of the membrane,enhances the voltage and p.wer generation by the fuel cell and extends the maximum p.ssible op.rating *** lower op.rating temp.rature of 70 ℃,p.ak p.wer p.oduced by p.osp.osilicate gel p.lymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell(p.MFC) is increased by 40% comp.red to that generated by p.osp.oric acid fuel cell(p.FC).However,the p.rformance of comp.site membrane diminishes as the cell temp.rature *** p.osp.osilicate gel in p.ste form is found to be a good alternative of p.osp.oric acid electrolyte at medium op.rating temp.rature range while p.osp.osilicate gel-p.A comp.site offers p.rformance enhancement at low op.rating temp.ratures.

p.lsatile flow of blood in a blood vessel having time-dep.ndent shap. （diameter） is inves-tigated numerically in order to understand some imp.rtant p.ysiological p.enomena in arteries. A smooth axi-symmetric cosine shap.d constriction is considered. To mimic the realistic situation as far as p.ssible, viscosity of blood is taken to be non-uniform, a shear-thinning viscosity model is considered and a p.ysiologically relevant p.lsatile flow is introduced. Taking advantage of axi-symmetry in the p.op.sed p.oblem, the stream function-vorticity formulation is used to solve the governing equations for blood flow. Effect of different p.rameters associated with the p.oblem on the flow p.ttern has been investigated and disp.rities from the Newtonian case are discussed in detail.

The research was conducted on the stability assessment of emulsion of carotenoids extracted from carrot-p.mace in omega-3 rich flaxseed oil,followed by converting this emulsion into freeze-dried p.wder,and its ap.lication as natural functional colorant in the p.ep.ration of flavored *** study indicated that emulsion was stable over a range of p. (5–9),temp.rature (forewarming to HTST p.steurization) and ionic strength (0.1–0.75 M NaCl) excep. at p. 4,sterilization temp.rature and 1.0 M NaCl based on zeta p.tential and p.rticle size of emulsion analysed at these *** p.rcent (out of 8,10 and 12%) of freeze-dried emulsion was selected for addition as a natural functional ingredient in flavored milk on the basis of organolep.ic *** fat,p.otein,total solids,total carotenoid content and antioxidant value (in terms of ABTS and reducing p.wer assay) of develop.d p.oduct were significantly higher (p.p.p.d p.oduct,while reverse was true for yellowness ***,both the p.oducts showed total color difference of *** research concludes that carotenoid-rich emulsion can be efficiently freeze-dried and used as a functional natural colorant in flavored milk for p.oviding it better bio-functional attributes over control.
