Pandemic and mental health of the front-line healthcare workers:a review and implications in the Indian context amidst COVID-19

Pandemic,being unprecedented,leads to several mental health problems,especially among the front-line healthcare workers(HCW).Front-line HCWs often suffer from anxiety,depression,burnout,insomnia and stress-related *** is mediated to a large extent by the biopsychological vulnerabilities of the individuals;socioenvironmental factors such as the risk of exposure to infection,effective risk communication to HCWs,availability of personal protective equipment,job-related stress,perceived stigma and psychological impact of the isolation/quarantine and interpersonal distancing also play the major *** the huge magnitude of mental health problems among the frontline HCWs,their psychological health is often *** of the potential measures to reduce the mental health problems of the front-line HCWs are effective communication,tangible support from the administration/seniors,mental health problem screening—and interventional—facilities,making quarantine/isolation less restrictive and ensuring interpersonal communication through the various digital platforms,proactively curtailing the misinformation/rumour spread by the media and strict legal measures against violence/ill treatment with the HCWs,and so ***,along with other countries who lately got affected by the COVID-19,must learn from the experiences of the other countries and also from the previous pandemics as to how to address the mental health needs of their front-line HCWs and ensure HCWs'mental well-being,thereby improving their *** review attempts to highlight the mental health aspects of the pandemic on the front-line HCWs,discusses some of the contentious issues and provides future directions particularly concerning COVID-19 in the Indian context and other low-resource countries.

Olanzapine-induced leucopaenia and thrombocytopaenia in an elderly patient:a case report and review of the evidence

Haematological adverse effects of antipsychotics are rare but life threatening. Existing literature is limited to case reports, which are mostly reported on second generation antipsychotics(clozapine, olanzapine, risperidone, quetiapine). Elderly individuals are at risk of developing side effects with any psychotropics. Olanzapine is commonly used for the management of psychotic symptoms as well as for the management of behavioural and psychological problems with dementia in the elderly. In this case report, the authors report thrombocytopaenia and leucopaenia in an elderly individual with schizophrenia which developed after initiation of olanzapine and reverted back after stoppage of the drug. This case report highlights that the elderly are susceptible to develop haematological side effects with olanzapine and hence monitoring may be essential.

The hydrodynamic behaviour of the spouted bed in the pharmaceutical industries has been found to be less *** present paper has focused on the hydrodynamic characteristics of a spouted bed where the Cellets^(TM)(***./USP)is adopted as the bed *** are carried out with three different static bed heights(H_(0))of shallow depth(2D_(i)≤H_(0)<3D_(i))using two different particle *** spouted bed employed with D_(i)/D_(0) of 5 has given the experimental information on external spouting(Ues)by mapping the pressure drop,and fountain height(H_(f))against the superficial gas velocity(U_(g))is rep-resented with the image contours,which show the intrinsic *** the 1000 μm and 700 μm particles have been found to exhibit symmetric and asymmetric *** increasing U_(g),the fully suspended particles are limited to a certain height in the freeboard region due to the gas-solid cross-flow,which implies the clusters have identified with the image processing method.

Effects of slip, viscous dissipation and Joule heating on the MHD flow and heat transfer of a second grade fluid past a radially stretching sheet

The flow and heat transfer of an electrically conducting non-Newtonian second grade fluid due to a radially stretching surface with partial slip is considered. The partial slip is controlled by a dimensionless slip factor, which varies between zero （total adhesion） and infinity （full slip）. Suitable similarity transformations are used to reduce the resulting highly nonlinear partial differential equations into ordinary differential equations. The issue of paucity of boundary conditions is addressed and an effective numerical scheme is adopted to solve the obtained differential equations even without augmenting any extra boundary conditions. The important findings in this communication are the combined effects of the partial slip, magnetic interaction parameter and the second grade fluid parameter on the velocity and temperature fields. It is interesting to find that the slip increases the momentum and thermal boundary layer thickness. As the slip increases in magnitude, permitting more fluid to slip past the sheet, the skin friction coefficient decreases in magnitude and approaches zero for higher values of the slip parameter, i.e., the fluid behaves as though it were inviscid. The presence of a magnetic field has also substantial effects on velocity and temperature fields.

Enhanced time response and temperature sensing behavior of thermistor using Zn-doped CaTiO_3 nanoparticles

In the present study, Zn-doped CaTiO_3 nanocrystalline was synthesized to study the thermistor behavior with temperature. The X-ray powder diffraction analysis showed the formation of a single-phase orthorhombic structure at room temperature. The electrical resistance of the Zn-doped CaTiO_3 increased with increasing doping concentration and decreased at higher measuring temperature, showing a negative temperature coefficient of resistance(NTCR) behavior. Different thermistor parameters were calculated using Steinhart–Hart equations, whilst time domain analysis confirmed faster response towards applied voltage.
