metal ions doping is a typical approach for tuning sensing properties of metal oxide semiconductors based gas ***,hierarchical flower-like pure and In-doped Co_(3)O_(4) nanostructures assembled by porous two-dimensional(2D)nanosheets are synthesized via a solvothermal method and annealing *** sensing measurements display that the In@Co_(3)O_(4)-4 based sensor possesses high response value of 55.9 toward 100 ppm xylene at 150 ℃,which is nearly 3.8times larger than that of pure Co_(3)O_(4) ***,it possesses good selectivity and anti-humidity *** with the results of DFT calculations,the mechanism of enhanced gas sensing performance is analyzed systematically.

With big-data driven materials research,the new paradigm of materials science,sharing and wide accessibility of data are becoming crucial ***,a prerequisite for data exchange and big-data analytics is standardization,which means using consistent and unique conventions for,e.g.,units,zero base lines,and file *** are two main strategies to achieve this *** accepts the heterogeneous nature of the community,which comprises scientists from physics,chemistry,bio-physics,and materials science,by complying with the diverse ecosystem of computer codes and thus develops“converters”for the input and output files of all important *** converters then translate the data of each code into a standardized,codeindependent *** other strategy is to provide standardized open libraries that code developers can adopt for shaping their inputs,outputs,and restart files,directly into the same code-independent *** this perspective paper,we present both strategies and argue that they can and should be regarded as complementary,if not even *** represented appropriate format and conventions were agreed upon by two teams,the Electronic Structure Library(ESL)of the European Center for Atomic and molecular Computations(CECAm)and the NOvel mAterials Discovery(NOmAD)Laboratory,a European Centre of Excellence(CoE).A key element of this work is the definition of hierarchical metadata describing state-of-the-art electronic-structure calculations.

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

Graphene Flakes in Arc Plasma: Conditions for the Fast Single-Layer Growth

The results of systematic numerical studies of graphene flakes growth in low-temperature arc discharge plasmas are presented. Diffusion-based growth model was developed, verified using the previously published experiments, and used to investigate the principal effects of the process parameters such as plasma density, electron temperature, surface temperature and time of growth on the size and structure of the plasma-grown graphene flakes. It was demonstrated that the higher growth temperatures result in larger graphene flakes reaching 5 μm, and simultaneously, lead to much lower density of the carbon atoms adsorbed on the flake surface. The low density of the carbon adatoms reduces the probability of the additional graphene layer nucleation on surface of growing flake, thus eventually resulting in the synthesis of the most valuable single-layered graphenes.

The aim of the present work is to confirm the fundamental possibility of creating new generation of the nanostructured composite coatings-orientants are studied under conditions of boundary lubrication in inactive oil, as green tribology aspect and to experimentally prove the efficacy of the nanostructured composite coatings-orientants for engineering applications. Tribological properties of nanostructured composite coatings-orientants are studied under conditions of boundary lubrication in inactive oil, as green tribology aspect. The friction tests were carried out by using two test configurations: “ball-on-disc” and “ring-to-ring”. As lubricants some model and commercial oils were used. It is found that the friction coefficient and its temperature dependence differ significantly for nanostructured composite coatings under study. The obtained results were attributed to different orientating effect of these coatings on structural ordering in boundary layers, which structure is considered as a mesophase of liquid crystals. The findings suggest that the nanostructured composite coatings-orientants with orientating effect on boundary layers are advantageous for improving antifriction characteristics and for governing processes of boundary lubrication. The nanostructured composite coatings-orientants can improve lubricating properties of oils (with and without additives) and may be advantageous for engineering practice as they improve antifriction characteristics of rubbing pairs and allow controlling the processes of boundary lubrication. Thus, received nanostructured composite coatings-orientants can be today the best materials of green tribology in engineering.
