Some electrical parameters of the SIS-type hysteretic underdamped Josephson junction(JJ)can be measured by its current-voltage characteristics(IVCs).Currents and voltages at JJ are commensurate with the intrinsic noise level of measuring *** leads to the need for multiple measurements with subsequent statistical *** this paper,the digital algorithms are proposed for the automatic measurement of the JJ parameters by *** algorithms make it possible to implement multiple measurements and check these JJ parameters in an automatic mode with the required *** complete sufficient statistics are used to minimize the root-mean-square error of parameter measurement.A sequence of current pulses with slow rising and falling edges is used to drive JJ,and synchronous current and voltage readings at JJ are used to realize measurement *** algorithm performance is estimated through computer *** significant advantage of the proposed algorithms is the independence from current source noise and intrinsic noise of current and voltage meters,as well as the simple implementation in automatic digital measuring *** proposed algorithms can be used to control JJ parameters during mass production of superconducting integrated circuits,which will improve the production efficiency and product quality.

Limited supply of nonrenewable energy resources under growing energy demand creates a situation when a marginal change in the quantity supplied or demanded causes non-marginal swings in price levels. The situation is worsened by the fact that we are currently running out of cheap energy resources at the global scale while adaptation to climate change requires extra energy costs. It is often argued that technology and alternative energy will be a solution. However, alternative energy infrastructure also requires additional energy investments, which can further increase the gap between energy demand and supply. This paper presents an explorative model that demonstrates that a smooth transition from an oil-based economy to alternative energy sources is possible only if it is started well in advance while fossil resources are still abundant. Later the transition looks much more dramatic and it becomes risky to rely entirely on technological solutions. It becomes increasingly likely that in addition to technological solutions that can increase supply we will need to find ways to decrease demand and consumption. We further argue that market mechanisms can be just as powerful tools to curb demand as they have traditionally been for stimulating consumption. We observe that individuals who consume more energy resources benefit at the expense of those who consume less, effectively imposing price externalities on the latters. We suggest two transparent and flexible methods of pricing that attempt to eliminate price externalities on energy resources. Such pricing schemes stimulate less consumption and can smooth the transition to renewable energy.

Rodents were sampled using the capture-mark-recapture technique along transects in disturbed and undisturbed tropical forest in Cat Tien National Park in south *** transects comprised two strata:traps were placed on the ground and in the canopy 2–12 m above the *** the main transect,which was 1500 m long and located in undisturbed forest,a total of 438 rodents(173 squirrels and 265 murids)of 12 different species(one Scuridae sp.;11 Muridae spp.)were marked between January 2005 and January *** this study site and at another undisturbed tropical forest site in the same area,two species dominated:the rat Maxomys surifer(Miller,1900)and the squirrel Callosciurus flavimanus(geoffroy,1831).During the study period we observed no significant difference between the average abundances of the two species(4.67±0.86 and 3.1±0.85 individuals per 100 trap nights,respectively)or between the average proportions of resident squirrels and rats(60.0±24.1 and 62.5±11.5,respectively).The number of squirrels that were permanent residents(*** in the same habitat for 1 year)was eightfold the number of rats that were permanent *** addition,there was some synchrony in the daily capture dynamics of squirrels and of *** observed no significant difference in the total abundance of small mammals between the arboreal and ground *** two disturbed tropical forest sites in the same area,however,no such balance between squirrels and rats was observed,and the density of *** was very *** suggest that the relationship between these two dominant species can act as an indicator of the integrity of tropical forest ecosystems in south Vietnam.

Background: Parkinson’s disease (PD) is caused by complex interactions between genetic and environmental factors. Mendelian forms of PD rarely occur in practice, but respective genes may play some role in pathogenesis of a common sporadic form of the disease. Methods: We analyzed most frequent known point mutations (PMs) and single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in genes responsible for monogenic PD in 408 Russian patients, using arrayed primer extension (APEX), real-time PCR, and restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis. Results: We detected only three heterozygous PMs in the PARK2 gene in three non-related patients with early-onset sporadic PD. No association between PD and the studied SNPs was identified. Conclusion: The examined PMs and SNPs in genes responsible for monogenic PD do not contribute significantly to the development of sporadic PD in Russia.

According to classic deterministic-stochastic approaches, we don’t have any possibility for realization of the basic principle in medicine because every human organism has its own specific features. It is evident for us that requirement of medical personification includes two procedures: individual (with uninterrupted procedure of human organism state measurement) diagnostics and the second part which is connected with uninterrupted control of the efficiency of medical treatment and measurements of human organism parameters. We conduct the diagnostics according to behavior of state vector of human organism in phase space of states according to every coordinates of human’s state vector and with calculation of quasiattractors. We can present the results of our observations: what may be good for one person is not necessarily good for another. We present new bioinformational methods and software for calculation of quasiattractors parameters for dissolving such contradictions between deterministic-stochastic medicine and the use of theory of chaos self-organization where the state vector of human organism demonstrates uninterrupted movements. The practical results of such procedure are also presented according to the theory of chaos-self-organization. So there are great distinctions between the classic deterministic-stochastic approach (based on traditional medicine requirements) and the new theory of chaos self-organization which considers every human organism as a unique system with individual properties.

Transcriptome profiling of 6-OHDA model of Parkinson’s disease

Analysis of monogenic forms and candidate genes of Parkinson’s disease (PD) does not allow to describe completely the contribution of genetic factors to the etiopathogenesis of the disorder. An approach associated with an analysis of changes in a transcriptome pattern during the development of the disease in model objects can be used to identify new candidate genes that are involved in the pathogenesis of PD. In this work, we performed a transcriptome analysis of a PD model, created via stereotaxic unilateral introduction of the 6-hydroxidopamine (6-OHDA) into the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNpc) of a rat brain, to identify new candidate genes for PD. We studied transcriptome alterations in the substantia nigra of the rat brains 2 weeks after toxin administration, when the rats developed the Parkinson-like phenotype, and 4 weeks after toxin administration, when maximal changes in the behavior of animals were observed. The transcriptome analysis of the substantia nigra of the rat brains at the first time point (2 weeks) revealed changes in expression of genes that were clustered with high significance (p g to protein participation: modification of the extracellular matrix, signal transduction (including genes encoding signal peptides), and inflammation processes. This likely indicates that, during this time nonspecific effects associated with the response to surgery took place in the substantia nigra of the rats. Concomitantly, the situation changed dramatically and a response associated with damage to the nervous tissue was observed 4 weeks after neurotoxin administration. As a result, we identified five metabolic pathways containing predominantly genes, that encode protein products that are involved in the processes of neuron projection, normal functioning of the soma and dendrites of neurons, synaptic transmission, and transmission of nerve impulses (p < 0.01, modified Fisher extra

Our previous studies showed a predominance of high molecular weight protein group in tumor nuclear matrices. contrary to normal cells, Proteins of this group are Preferentially phosphorylated. Phosphoproteins of hepatoma nuclear matrix are selectively subjected to rapid proteolysis. By alkali treatment and a monoclonal antibody against phosphotyrosyl residue the presence of two high molecular weight bands of phosphotyrosyl-containing proteins was defected in nuclear matrices of tumor but not of normal liver cells. High molecular weight protein group of tumor nuclear matrices revealed also a rapid turnover and preferential incorporation of labeled amino acids selectively inhibited by chioramphenicol.

Sex Influence on the Formation of Alcohol Preference and Behavior in Rats during the Long-Term Caffeine and Ethanol Intake

Last years the intake of energy drinks (drinks containing caffeine and alcohol) both in young men and women has been increased. However the investigators do not pay attention to the analysis of gender differences. The goal of the study was the investigation of ethanol and caffeine influence on the alcohol preference formation and behavior in male and female rats under the conditions of long-term experiment. It has been found that six month intake of caffeine, ethanol and their combination has led to the increase of alcohol preference both in male and female rats. Alcohol preference was formed earlier in rats consumed combination of caffeine with ethanol, later on in rats consumed ethanol. In animals consumed caffeine the strong alcohol preference did not form up to the end of the experiment. Alcohol preference was higher in female rats consuming caffeine with ethanol and pure ethanol solution compared to male rats. .Behavioral activity significantly increased in females consumed caffeine and caffeine with ethanol, compared to animals received ethanol and controls. Similar tendency was observed in male rats. The anxiety level was significantly higher in females rats in all experimental groups compared to controls, while males did not demonstrate increased anxiety.
