A review of direct numerical simulations of astrophysical detonations and their implications

Multi-dimensional direct numerical simulations （DNS） of astrophysical detonations in degenerate matter have revealed that the nuclear burning is typically characterized by cellular structure caused by transverse instabilities in the detonation front. type Ia supernova modelers often use one- dimensional DNS of detonations as inputs or constraints for their whole star simulations. While these one-dimensional studies are useful tools, the true nature of the detonation is multi-dimensional. the multi-dimensional structure of the burning influences the speed, stability, and the composition of the detonation and its burning products, and therefore, could have an impact on the spectra of type Ia supernovae. Considerable effort has been expended modeling type Ia supernovae at densities above 1 ~ 107 ***-3 where the complexities of turbulent burning dominate the flame propagation. How- ever, most full star models turn the nuclear burning schemes off when the density falls below 1 ~ 107 ***-3 and distributed burning begins. the deflagration to detonation transition （DDt） is believed to occur at just these densities and consequently they are the densities important for studying the properties of the subsequent detonation. this work will review the status of DNS studies of detona- tions and their possible implications for type Ia supernova models. It will cover the development of Detonation theory from the first simple Chapman-Jouguet （C J） detonation models to the current models based on the time-dependent, compressible, reactive flow euler equations of fluid dynamics.

Free vibration and transient response of double curved beams connected by intermediate straight beams

this paper investigates the free vibration and transient response of interconnected structures including double curved beams and intermediate straight beams,which are all constructed from functionally graded porous(FGP) materials. the strain potential and kinetic energies of each beam along with the work done by the external force are calculated. Additionally, a higher-order beam element is introduced to derive stiffness and mass matrices, along with the force vector. the curved and straight beams are discretized, and their assembled stiffness, mass matrices, and force vectors, are *** conditions at the joints are used to derive the total matrices of the entire structure. Subsequently, the natural frequencies and transient response of the system are determined. the accuracy of the mathematical model and the self-developed computer program is validated through the comparison of the obtained results with those of the existing literature and commercial software ANSYS, demonstrating excellent ***, a comprehensive study is conducted to investigate the effects of various parameters on the free vibration and transient response of the considered structure.

Hong Kong is a hyper-dense city with 7x10(6) people living in an area of 1100km(2). One way to improve the livability of compacted and congested cities like Hong Kong is through the provision of urban parks, an aspect that has largely been under-researched. this study focuses on how users perceive and utilize various facilities in the Kowloon Park. the findings revealed that the Kowloon Park is one of the most preferred parks in Hong Kong for both local residents and tourists. Users were quite satisfied with the park's facilities. Notably, the most important component of an urban park is its greenery. this is followed by water elements, seating places, and facilities for various recreational activities. the improvements users would like to see in urban parks include good design and management, meeting users' needs, overcoming barriers to use, and providing a high quality and varied experience for different groups in the community. the findings of this study provide a good basis to address park management issues from the users' perspective. In particular, parks should provide easy access, encourage optimum usage and enable complimentary improvements to the environment.

Novel manganese(Ⅱ)-based deep eutectic solvents: Synthesis and physical properties analysis

type IV deep eutectic solvent（DeS） involves the formation of metal-based eutectics from metal salts or metal salt hydrate in combination with various hydrogen-bond donors（HBDs） such as urea, ethylene glycol or acetamide. In current study, two distinguished approaches were used to synthesize potential DeSs, given as the direct heating and the evaporating methods. Successful synthesized DeSs were subjected for physical properties characterization by Fourier transform Infrared（FtIR） Spectroscopy, thermal stability, viscosity,and conductivity analyses. Five novel manganese（II）-based DeSs were successfully synthesized as reported in this study. Data obtained indicated that the Mn Cl2á4H2Oáacetamide DeS exhibits the lowest freezing point（27.5℃）, highest thermal stability（193℃ point of dehydration）, lowest viscosity（e = 112.8cP） and the highest conductivity（0.12723 mS/cm）. the findings obtained reveal the characteristics, nature or features of synthesized DeSs as potential industrial solvents.

A Context Sensitive Multilevel thresholding Using Swarm Based Algorithms

In this paper, a comprehensive energy function is used to formulate the three most popular objective functions:Kapur's, Otsu and tsalli's functions for performing effective multilevel color image thresholding. these new energy based objective criterions are further combined with the proficient search capability of swarm based algorithms to improve the efficiency and robustness. the proposed multilevel thresholding approach accurately determines the optimal threshold values by using generated energy curve, and acutely distinguishes different objects within the multi-channel complex images. the performance evaluation indices and experiments on different test images illustrate that Kapur's entropy aided with differential evolution and bacterial foraging optimization algorithm generates the most accurate and visually pleasing segmented images.

Fuel poverty is one of the global concerns affecting not only users’financial capacity or affordability for maintaining housing operation but also the occupants’health and *** heating and cooling require a relatively large amount of domestic energy use in ***,this study was formed with the aim to propose an innovative approach to utilising free,clean renewable sources of energy applicable to the space heating and cooling of housing in both cold and hot ***,housing test facilities based in Melbourne,Australia,and Kuching,Malaysia,were selected and used for this study that examined the thermal performance of a proposed‘hydronic radiator’(HR)system through simulation and onsite *** geothermal heat capacity of a‘vertical ground heat exchanger’(VGHe)installed in the house in Melbourne was examined previously by the authors and the VGHe measured data was also applied to this HR performance *** water that circulates through the HRs is heated by sunlight and VGHe or cooled by night sky *** study drew conclusions that the sole utilisation of renewable sources through these proposed HR space heating and cooling systems can provide thermally accessible or comfortable indoor living environments in both heating or cooling dominant ***,fuel poverty issues may be alleviated through HR system *** HRs can remove a‘sensible’portion of metabolic heat,but they cannot effectively contribute to the‘latent’heat ***,the future potential use or effect of‘flow-through’HRs,which are integrated into a underfloor air distribution(UFAD)plenum,was also dsicussed in this *** the test house located in Melbourne,the flow-through HR UFAD system is currently under ***,the performance will be measured once the system has come into operation for further testing.

Recent colonization of extreme environments provides unique opportunities to study the early steps of adaptation and the potential for rapid convergent ***,phenotypic shifts during recent colonization may also be due to plasticity in response to changes in the rearing ***,we analyzed a suite of morphological and behavioral traits in paired surface,subterranean,and facultatively subterranean Mexican tetras(Astyanax mexicanus)from recent introductions in two separate watersheds outside of their native *** found a variety of phenotypic and behavioral shifts between subterranean and surface populations that are similar to those observed in relatively ancient populations in *** this rapid morphological divergence,we found that most of these trait differences were due to plasticity in response to rearing *** most trait assays in common-garden,lab-raised fish indicated that phenotypic shifts in wild fish were the result of plasticity,we also found evidence of genetic control in several traits present in subterranean ***,wall-following behavior,an important subterranean foraging behavior,was greater in lab-born subterranean fish than in lab-born surface fish,suggesting rapid divergence of this trait between subterranean and surface ***,this study sheds light on the early steps of subterranean evolution,identifies potential rapid behavioral evolution,and suggests that plasticity in traits involving exploratory behavior may facilitate subterranean colonization.

NeCAB family of neuronal calcium-binding proteins in health and disease

the N-terminal eF-hand calcium-binding proteins 1–3(NeCAB1–3) constitute a family of predominantly neuronal proteins characterized by the presence of at least one eF-hand calcium-binding domain and a functionally less well characterized C-terminal antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domain. All three family members were initially discovered due to their interactions with other proteins. NeCAB1 associates with synaptotagmin-1, a critical neuronal protein involved in membrane trafficking and synaptic vesicle exocytosis. NeCAB2 interacts with predominantly striatal G-protein-coupled receptors, while NeCAB3 partners with amyloid-β A4 precursor protein-binding family A members 2 and 3, key regulators of amyloid-β production. this demonstrates the capacity of the family for interactions with various classes of proteins. NeCAB proteins exhibit distinct subcellular localizations: NeCAB1 is found in the nucleus and cytosol, NeCAB2 resides in endosomes and the plasma membrane, and NeCAB3 is present in the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus. the antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domain, an evolutionarily ancient component, is akin to atypical heme oxygenases in prokaryotes but is not wellcharacterized in vertebrates. Prokaryotic antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domains typically form dimers, suggesting that calcium-mediated conformational changes in NeCAB proteins may induce antibiotic biosynthesis monooxygenase domain dimerization, potentially activating some enzymatic properties. However, the substrate for this enzymatic activity remains uncertain. Immunomodulation by mesenchymal stem cells:Interplay between mesenchymal stem cells and regulatory lymphocytes

Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs) possess immunomodulatory properties, which confer enormous potential for clinical application. Considerable evidence revealed their efficacy on various animal models of autoimmune diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, systemic lupus erythematosus and uveitis. MSCs elicit their immunomodulatory effects by inhibiting lymphocyte activation and proliferation, forbidding the secretion of proinflammatory cytokines, limiting the function of antigen presenting cells, and inducing regulatory t(treg) and B(Breg) cells. the induction of treg and Breg cells is of particular interest since treg and Breg cells have significant roles in maintaining immune tolerance. Several mechanisms have been proposed regarding to the MSCs-mediated induction of treg and Breg cells. Accordingly, MSCs induce regulatory lymphocytes through secretion of multiple pleiotropic cytokines, cell-to-cell contact with target cells and modulation of antigen-presenting cells. Here, we summarized how MSCs induce treg and Breg cells to provoke immunosuppression.

Fructose-sorbitol ingestion provokes gastrointestinal symptoms in patients with eating disorders

AIM:to evaluate gastrointestinal(GI) symptoms and breath hydrogen responses to oral fructose-sorbitol(F-S) and glucose challenges in eating disorder(eD) ***:GI symptoms and hydrogen breath concentration were monitored in 26 female eD inpatients for 3 h,following ingestion of 50 g glucose on one day,and 25 g fructose/5 g sorbitol on the next day,after an overnight fast on each *** to F-S were compared to those of 20 asymptomatic healthy ***:F-S provoked GI symptoms in 15 eD patients and one healthy control(P eD vs control) .Only one eD patient displayed symptom provocation to glucose(P esponse) .A greater symptom response was observed in eD patients with a body mass index(BMI) ≤ 17.5 kg/m 2 compared to those with a BMI > 17.5 kg/m 2(P there were no differences in psychological scores,prevalence of functional GI disorders or breath hydrogen responses between patients with and without an F-S ***:F-S,but not glucose,provokes GI symptoms in eD patients,predominantly those with low *** findings are important in the dietary management of eD patients.
