Objective:To evaluate microscopy,OptiMAL? and multiplex PCR for the identification of Plasmodium falciparum（***） and Plasmodium vivax（***） from the field isolates of Bikaner,Rajasthan（Northwest India）.Methods:In this study,a multiplex PCR（*** and ***） was further developed with the incorporation of Plasmodium malariae（***） specific primer and also a positive *** performance of microscopy,plasmodium lactate dehydrogenase（pLDH） based malaria rapid diagnostic test OptiMAL? and 18S rRNA gene based multiplex PCR for the diagnosis of *** and *** was ***:The three species multiplex PCR ***,*** and ***) with an inbuilt positive control was developed and *** comparison with multiplex PCR,which showed the sensitivity and specificity of 99.36%（95%CI,98.11%-100.00%） and 100.00%（95%CI,100.00%-100.00%）,the sensitivity and specificity of microscopy was 90.44%（95%CI,88.849-95.04%） and 99.22%（95% CI,97.71%-100.00%）,and OptiMAL? was 93.58%（95%CI,89.75%-97.42%） and 97.69%（95%CI, 95.10%-100.00%）.The efficiencies were 99.65%,95.10%and 95.45%for multiplex *** and OptiMAL?.***:Our results raise concerns over the overall sensitivities of microscopy and OptiMAL?,when compared to the multiplex PCR and thus stress the need for new molecular interventions in the accurate detection of the malarial *** further highlights the fact that further developments are needed to improve the performance of rapid diagnostic tests at field level.

Photocatalytic Degradation of 2,6-Dichlorophenol in Aqueous Phase Using Titania as a Photocatalyst

The paper includes the studies on photocatalytic degradation of 2,6-DCP in aqueous phase using titania (PC-105) as a photocatalyst. The degradation experiments were carried out by irradiating the aqueous suspensions of the model compound in the presence of photocatalysts under UV light. The rate of degradation was estimated from residual concentration spectrophotometrically. Various parameters affecting the degradation process viz. catalyst dose, pH, initial substrate concentration and time were investigated in order to obtain their optimum values. The maximum degradation of 2,6-DCP was achieved with 1.25 g/L catalyst dose at pH-4. The disappearance of 2,6-DCP obeyed pseudo-first order kinetics and the rate constant value was calculated to be 4.78 × 10-4s-1.

Endoscopic management of postoperative bile leaks

BACKGROUND: Significant bile leak as an uncommon complication after biliary tract surgery may constitute a serious and difficult management problem. Surgical management of biliary fistulae is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Biliary endoscopic procedures have become the treatment of choice for management of biliary Gstulae. METHODS: Ninety patients presented with bile leaks after cholecystectomy ( open cholecystectomy in 45 patients, cholecystectomy with common bile duct exploration in 20 and laparoscopic cholecystectomy in 25). The presence of bile leaks was confirmed by ERCP and the appearance of bile in percutaneous drainage of abdominal collections. Of the 90 patients with postoperative bile leaks, 18 patients had complete transaction of the common bile duct by ERCP and were subjected to bilioenteric anastomosis. In the remaining patients after cholangiography and localization of the site of bile leaks. therapeutic procedures like sphinctero-tomy, biliary stenting and nasobiliary drainage ( NBD ) were performed. If residual stones were seen in the common bile duct, sphincterotomy was followed by stone extraction using dormia basket. Nasobiliary drain or stents of 7F size were placed according to the standard techniques. The NBD was removed when bile leak stopped and closure of the fistula confirmed cholangiographically. The stents were removed after an interval of 6-8 weeks. RESULTS: Bile leaks in 72 patients occurred in the cystic duct (38 patients), the common bile duct (30 ), and the right hepatic duct (4). Of the 72 patients with post-operative bile leak, 24 had associated retained common bile duct stones and 1 had ascaris in common bile duct. All the 72 patients were subjected to therapeutic procedures including sphincterotomy with stone extraction followed by biliary stenting (24 patients), removal of ascaris and biliary stenting (1), sphincterotomy with biliary stenting (18), sphincterotomy with NBD (12), biliary stenting alone (12), and NBD

Spectral Investigations of Kiton Red-620 Doped Polymethylmethacrylate

Chemical modifications by incorporating organic dye molecules in polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) matrix may open up the possibility of the development of smart materials. In the present work, Kiton red-620 laser dye is embedded in synthesized PMMA matrix by chemical doping process. The spectral investigations of Kiton red-620 doped PMMA matrix has been carried out using FTIR, UV-visible and photoluminescence spectrophotometers. FTIR study showed that the absorption band region 1800 - 1000 cm-1 becomes sharper with the concentration of dye in PMMA matrix. UV-visible and photoluminescence study showed that a slight shifting appears in the absorption spectra, emission spec- tra and intensity of emission peaks as concentration of dye increases in PMMA matrix.

Fuzzy Inventory Model for Deteriorating Items with Time Dependent Demand and Partial Backlogging

In this paper we developed a fuzzy inventory model for deteriorating items with time dependent demand rate. Shortages are allowed and completely backlogged. The backlogging rate of unsatisfied demand is assumed to be a decreasing exponential function of waiting time. The demand rate, deterioration rate and backlogging rate are assumed as a triangular fuzzy numbers. The purpose of our study is to defuzzify the total profit function by signed distance method and centroid method. Further a numerical example is also given to demonstrate the developed crisp and fuzzy models. A sensitivity analysis is also given to show the effect of change of the parameters.

An Inventory Model for Perishable Items with Time Varying Stock Dependent Demand and Trade Credit under Inflation

In the classical inventory models, it is assumed that the retailer pays to the supplier as soon as he received the items and in such cases the supplier offers a cash discount or credit period (permis-sible delay) to the retailer. In this paper we presented an inventory model for perishable items with time varying stock dependent demand under inflation. It is assumed that the supplier offers a credit period to the retailer and the length of credit period is dependent on the order quantity. The purpose of our study is to minimize the present value of retailer’s total cost. Numerical examples are also given to demonstrate the presented mode.

Handwritten Character Recognition Using Multiresolution Technique and Euclidean Distance Metric

In the present paper, the problem of handwritten character recognition has been tackled with multiresolution technique using discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and Euclidean distance metric (EDM). The technique has been tested and found to be more accurate and faster. Characters is classified into 26 pattern classes based on appropriate properties. Features of the handwritten character images are extracted by DWT used with appropriate level of multiresolution technique, and then each pattern class is characterized by a mean vector. Distances from input pattern vector to all the mean vectors are computed by EDM. Minimum distance determines the class membership of input pattern vector. The proposed method provides good recognition accuracy of 90% for handwritten characters even with fewer samples.

The prodigious advancements in contemporary technologies have also brought in the situation of unprecedented ***,the pin-based security system is an inadequate mechanism for handling such a *** reason is that hackers use multiple strategies for evading security systems and thereby gaining access to private *** research proposes to deploy diverse approaches for authenticating and securing a connection amongst two devices/gadgets via sound,thereby disregarding the pins’manual ***,the results demonstrate that the proposed approaches outperform conventional pin-based authentication or QR authentication ***,a random signal is encrypted,and then it is transformed into a wave file,after which it gets transmitted in a short burst via the device’s ***,the other device/gadget captures these audio bursts through its microphone and decrypts the audio signal for getting the essential data for ***,this model requires two devices/gadgets with speakers and a microphone,and no extra hardware such as a camera,for reading the QR code is *** first module is tested with realtime data and generates high scores for the widely accepted accuracy metrics,including precision,Recall,F1 score,entropy,and mutual information(MI).Additionally,this work also proposes a module helps in a secured transmission of sensitive data by encrypting it over images and other *** steganographic module includes two-stage encryption with two different encryption algorithms to transmit data by embedding inside a *** encryption algorithms and their combinations are taken for this system to compare the resultant file *** these systems engender high accuracies and provide secure connectivity,leading to a sustainable communication ecosystem.

Giant exophytic renal angiomyolipoma masquerading as a retroperitoneal liposarcoma: A case report and review of literature

A 42-years-old lady, presented with a large retroperitoneal mass which was preoperatively diagnosed as a retroperitoneal liposarcoma following an image guided core biopsy. She underwent a margin-negative resection of the retroperitoneal mass(multi visceral resection-enbloc excision of the retroperitoneal mass with a left nephrectomy and a segmental descending colectomy). The final histopathological examination of the resected specimen confirmed an exophytic renal angiomyolipoma(AML) which was extending into the retroperitoneum. AML is a rare benign tumor arising most commonly from the kidney. It can sometimes present as a diagnostic challenge as it mimics a retroperitoneal liposarcoma or a fat-containing renal cell carcinomas closely. We present this case to share our experience of managing a case of giant exophytic AML which resembled retroperitoneal liposarcoma closely and resulted into an aggressive surgery.
