The knowledge on post-transcriptional regulation mechanisms implicated in seed development(SD)is still limited,particularly in one of the most consumed grain legumes,Phaseolus vulgaris *** explore for the first time the miRNA expression dynamics in *** developing ***-two known and 39 new miRNAs were found expressed in *** developing *** of the miRNAs identified were more abundant at 10 and 40 days after anthesis,suggesting that late embryogenesis/early filling and desiccation were SD stages in which miRNA action is more *** analysis and target prediction identified targets for 77 expressed *** several known miRNAs were predicted to target HD-ZIP,ARF,SPL,and NF-Y transcription factors families,most of the predicted targets for new miRNAs encode for functional ***-targets expression profiles evidenced that these miRNAs could tune distinct seed developmental *** more accumulated at early SD stages were implicated in regulating the end of embryogenesis,postponing the seed maturation program,storage compound synthesis and *** more accumulated at late SD stages could be implicated in seed quiescence,desiccation tolerance,and longevity with still uncovered roles in *** miRNAs herein described represent novel *** resources with potential application in future biotechnological approaches to modulate the expression of genes implicated in legume seed traits with impact in horticultural production systems.

Common bean(Phaseolus vulgaris L.),one of the most consumed food legumes worldwide,is threatened by two main constraints that are found frequently together in nature,water deficit(WD)and fusarium wilt(Fop).To understand the shared and unique responses of common bean to Fop and WD,we analyzed the transcriptomic changes and phenotypic responses in two accessions,one resistant and one susceptible to both stresses,exposed to single and combined *** responses(photosynthetic performance and pigments quantification)and disease progression were also *** combined FopWD imposition negatively affected the photosynthetic performance and increased the susceptible accession disease *** susceptible accession revealed a higher level of transcriptional changes than the resistant one,and WD single stress triggered the highest transcriptional *** 89 differentially expressed genes were identified exclusively in combined stresses for the susceptible accession,35 were identified in the resistant *** genes belong mainly to“stress”,“signaling”,“cell wall”,“hormone metabolism”,and“secondary metabolism”functional *** the up-regulated genes with higher expression in the resistant accession,the cysteine-rich secretory,antigen 5 and Pr-1(CAP)superfamily protein,a ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase family protein,and a chitinase A seem promising targets for multiple stress breeding.

Water deficit is a major worldwide constraint to common bean(Phaseolus vulgaris L.)production,being photosynthesis one of the most affected physiological *** gain insights into the genetic basis of the photosynthetic response of common bean under water-limited conditions,a collection of 158 Portuguese accessions was grown under both well-watered and water-deficit *** gas-exchange parameters were measured and photosynthetic pigments *** same collection was genotyped using SNP arrays,and SNP-trait associations tested considering a linear mixed model accounting for the genetic relatedness among accessions.A total of 133 SNP-trait associations were identified for net CO 2 assimilation rate,transpiration rate,stomatal conductance,and chlorophylls a and b,carotenes,and xanthophyll *** of these associations were detected under water-deficit and 43 under well-watered conditions,with only two associations common to both *** candidate genes revealed that stomatal regulation,protein translocation across membranes,redox mechanisms,hormone,and osmotic stress signaling were the most relevant processes involved in common bean response to water-limited *** candidates are now preferential targets for common bean water-deficit-tolerance ***,new sources of water-deficit tolerance of Andean,Mesoamerican,and admixed origin were detected as accessions valuable for breeding,and not yet explored.

Protein profile of leprosy patients with plantar ulcers from the Eastern Amazon region

Background:Studies investigating the nutritional status of patients with leprosy and plantar ulcers are ***,the objective of this study was to describe the protein profile of leprosy patients with plantar ulcers from the Eastern Amazon ***:A case record form was created for 75 patients with leprosy(31 with plantar ulcers and 44 without plantar ulcers)with the following data:sociodemographic characteristics,clinical form of leprosy,presence or absence of plantar ulcers,and nutritional assessment using anthropometry consisting of the measurement of body mass index,arm circumference,arm muscle circumference,and triceps *** of blood albumin,transferrin,and C-reactive protein(CRP)were also *** regarding protein intake were obtained using a Food Frequency ***:Plantar ulcers occurred more frequently in male patients(67.7%),patients aged 40-49 years(mean±SD:47.3±8.0 years),and patients receiving 300 or 600 USD(71.0%).The mean weight and height of patients were 71.6±11.4 kg and 1.62±0.1 m,*** levels of CRP were detected in 51.6%of leprosy patients with plantar ulcers and only 9.1%of patients without plantar ulcers(Pdepletion of transferrin was observed in 14.3%of patients with paucibacillary leprosy and 44.3%of patients with multibacillary leprosy(P=0.0447).Most patients had normal levels of serum albumin(74.2%with plantar ulcers and 77.3%without plantar ulcers).Conclusions:Most leprosy patients with plantar ulcers have normal levels of serum albumin and transferrin and high CRP levels,which indicates the presence of an inflammatory *** findings suggest the need to monitor patients with leprosy to prevent the occurrence of plantar ulcers and to provide adequate treatment for patients with existing plantar ulcers.

In this study the potential of cloud point extraction formed by a non-ionic surfactant was used in order to separate polyphenols from industrial residues of camu-camu. The effects of operational conditions of the cloud point extraction(CPE) on the polyphenol recovery and volumetric ratio were investigated. The results showed a maximum recovery of 95.71% that was obtained using 7.0 wt% Triton X-114, native pH(3.25), and 80 wt%polyphenol extract at 30 °C. The use of cloud point extraction was successful to recover the polyphenols from agroindustrial residue since it is a simple as well as of low-cost technique.

Autonomous machine learning for early bot detection in the internet of things

The high costs incurred due to attacks and the increasing number of different devices in the Internet of Things(IoT)highlight the necessity of the early detection of botnets(i.e.,a network of infected devices)to gain an advantage against ***,early botnet detection is challenging because of continuous malware mutations,the adoption of sophisticated obfuscation techniques,and the massive volume of *** literature addresses botnet detection by modeling the behavior of malware spread,the classification of malicious traffic,and the analysis of traffic *** article details ANTE,a system for ANTicipating botnEt signals based on machine learning *** system adapts itself to different scenarios and detects different types of *** autonomously selects the most appropriate Machine Learning(ML)pipeline for each botnet and improves the classification before an attack effectively *** system evaluation follows trace-driven experiments and compares ANTE results to other relevant results from the literature over four representative datasets:ISOT HTTP Botnet,CTU-13,CICDDoS2019,and *** show an average detection accuracy of 99.06%and an average bot detection precision of 100%.

Leukocytoclastic vasculitis caused by hepatitis C virus in a liver transplant recipient: A case report

BACKGROUND Infection by the hepatitis C virus(HCV) is currently considered to be a global health issue, with a high worldwide prevalence and causing chronic disease in afflicted individuals. The disease largely involves the liver but it can affect other organs, including the skin. While leukocytoclastic vasculitis has been reported as one of the dermatologic manifestations of HCV infection, there are no reports of this condition as the first symptom of HCV recurrence after liver *** SUMMARY We report here a case of leukocytoclastic vasculitis in a liver transplant recipient on maintenance immunosuppression. The condition presented as a palpable purpura in both lower extremities. Blood and urine cultures were negative and all biochemical tests were normal, excepting evidence of anemia and hypocomplementemia. Imaging examination by computed tomography showed a small volume of ascites, diffuse thickening of bowel walls, and a small bilateral pleural effusion. Skin biopsy showed leukocytoclasia and fibrinoid *** biopsy was suggestive of HCV recurrence in the graft, and HCV polymerase chain reaction yielded 11460 copies/mL and identified the genotype as 1 A. Treatment of the virus with a 12-wk direct-acting antiviral regimen of ribavirin, sofosbuvir and daclatasvir led to regression of the symptoms within the first 10 d and subsequent complete resolution of the *** This case highlights the difficulties of diagnosing skin lesions caused by HCVinfection in immunosuppressed patients.

Healthcare professionals in infectious diseases have been using Twitter to disseminate knowledge and interact with other *** study aimed to identify and characterize the top 100 Twitter influencers in infectious diseases and to analyze the correlation between Twitter and academic *** Right Relevance Application Programming Interface was used to search for the term“infectious diseases,”producing a Twitter topic score for the top 100 infectious disease *** influencers'Hirsch index(h-index)was compared with their Twitter topic score for a possible *** identified that 46%of the infectious disease influencers were physicians.A correlation between the Twitter topic score of the infectious disease influencers and their h-index was not identified(r=0.123,P=0.22).The study also provides a list of the infectious disease influencers for those who have an interest in engaging and interacting with them on Twitter.
