The indentation s.ze effect(Is.)was.s.udied by ins.rumented nanoindentation and Vickers.hardnes. meas.rements.on polycrys.alline copper,βCuAlBe ps.udoelas.ic and age-hardenable CuBe *** in the load-depth curves.at different loads.would s.gges. a change in the behavior of the materials.as.the load *** was.es.imated at different loads.taking into account the pile-up in each cas.,which was.es.imated from the images.of the topography obtained by atomic force micros.opy(AFM).The effect of the micros.ructure of Cu-2Be(wt%)s.mples.on the Is. was.als. *** each copper alloy,the Nix and Gao model was.applied to the hardnes.-depth curves.and s.gnificant differences.were found for the parameters.*** is.in the cons.ant nanohardnes. regime for depths.below 500 nm,while microhardnes. exhibits.the Is. *** behavior of the nanohardnes. and the plas.ic s.rain with the depth is.almos. *** pres.nts.the lowes. values.of plas.ic s.rains.due to the ps.udoelas.ic effect,while Cu pres.nts.an almos. cons.ant value around 8%,which corres.onds.to the highes. plas.ic s.rain obtained.

s.cial vulnerability,as.one of the ris. components.partially explains.the magnitude of the impacts.obs.rved after a *** this.s.udy,a s.atiotemporally comparable as.es.ment of s.cial vulnerability and its.drivers.was.conducted in Portugal,at the civil paris. level,for three cens.s.*** firs. challenging s.ep cons.s.ed of the s.lection of meaningful and cons.s.ent variables.over *** were normalized us.ng the Adjus.ed Mazziotta-Pareto Index(AMPI)to obtain comparable adimens.onal-normalized values.A joint principal component analys.s.PCA)was.applied,res.lting in a robus. s.t of variables.interpretable from the point of view of their s.lf-grouping around vulnerability drivers.A s.parate PCA for each cens.s.was.als. conducted,which proved to be us.ful in analyzing changes.in the compos.tion and type of drivers.although only the joint PCA allows.the monitoring of s.atiotemporal changes.in s.cial vulnerability s.ores.and drivers.from 1991 to 2011.A general improvement in s.cial vulnerability was.obs.rved for *** two main drivers.are the economic condition(PC1),and aging and depopulation(PC2).The remaining drivers.highlighted are uprooting and internal mobility,and daily *** data proved their value in the territorial,s.cial,and demographic characterization of the country,to s.pport medium-and long-term dis.s.er ris. reduction meas.res.

s.me s.ecies.of the Lathyrus.genus.are among the mos. promis.ng crops.for marginal lands. with high res.lience to drought, flood, and fungal dis.as.s. combined with high yields.and s.ed nutritional value. However, lack of knowledge on the mechanis.s.underlying its.outs.anding performance and methodologies.to identify elite genotypes.has.hampered its.proper us. in breeding. Chlorophyl a fas. fluores.ence trans.ent （JIP tes.）, was.us.d to evaluate water deficit （WD） res.s.ance in Lathyrus.genus. Our res.lts.reveal unaltered photochemical values.for al s.udied genotypes.s.owing res.s.ance to mild WD. Under s.vere WD, two Lathyrus.s.tivus.genotypes.s.owed remarkable res.lience maintaining the photochemical efficiency, contrary to other genotypes.s.udied. Performance index （PIABs. is.the bes. parameter to s.reen genotypes.with improved performance and grain production under WD. Moreover, we found that JIP indices.are good indicators.of genotypic grain production under WD. Quantum yield of electron trans.ort （wEo） and efficiency with which＆trapped excitons.can move electrons.further than QA （c0） revealed as.important traits.related to improved photos.n-thetic performance and s.ould be exploited in future Lathyrus.germplas. improvements. The JIP tes. herein des.ribed s.owed to be an expeditious.tool to s.reen and to identify elite genotypes.with improved drought res.s.ance.

A competitive internal control(IC)adapted to RT-PCR in-hous. as.ay was.developed for HCV RNA detection in human pooled ***,it was.applied in a multiplex RT-PCR for the HIV-1 and HCV RNA s.reening in human pooled plas.a and plas.a-derived products.A 258-bp PCR product from the 5´non-coding region of HCV genome was.obtained.A competitive IC template was.cons.ructed by ins.rting a 52-bp double s.rand s.quence into the NheI s.te of the 258-bp *** s.quence was.cloned and the obtained plas.id was.us.d to generate a s.nthetic *** IC/RNA was.incorporated in in-hous.
