Photometric and spectroscopic study of Ten Low Mass Ratio Contact Binary systems:Orbital stability,O'Connell Effect and Infrared Calcium Line Filling

Low mass ratio contact binary systems are more likely to have unstable orbits and potentially *** addition,such systems exhibit characteristics such as starspots and high energy emissions(UV)suggestive of chromospheric and magnetic *** curve modeling of ten contact binary systems is *** were found to be of extreme low mass ratio ranging from 0.122 to 0.24 and three were found to be potentially unstable and possible merger *** of the infrared calcium absorption lines is a marker of increased chromospheric *** use the available Large sky Area Multi-Object Fiber spectroscopic Telescope spectra along with matched standard spectra(broadened for rotation)to measure the excess filling of the central core depression flux of the two main infrared calcium absorption linesλ8542 andλ*** find that all reported contact binaries have excess filling of the core flux in the infrared calcium *** of the systems reported were also observed by the Galaxy Evolution Explorer mission and we find that all three have features of excess ultraviolet emissions further adding evidence for increased chromospheric activity in low mass ratio contact *** of both orbital stability and absorption line filling is dependent on the determination of geometric and absolute parameters from light curve *** an insignificant number of contact binary light curves exhibit the O’Connell effect,usually attributed to *** discuss the inclusion of starspots in light curve solutions and how they influence the geometric and absolute parameters.

Iron is an essential trace metal in the human diet due to its obligate role in a number of metabolic processes. In the diet, iron is present in a number of different forms, generally described as haem （from haemoglobin and myoglobin in animal tissue） and non-haem iron （including ferric oxides and salts, ferritin and lactoferrin）. This review describes the molecular mechanisms that co-ordinate the absorption of iron from the diet and its release into the circulation. While many components of the iron transport pathway have been elucidated, a number of key issues still remain to be resolved. Future work in this area will provide a clearer picture regarding the transcellular flux of iron and its regulation by dietary and humoral factors.

Multi-band photometry and light curve analysis for two newly recognized contact binary systems,TYC 6995-813-1 and NsVs 13602901,are *** were found to be of extreme low mass ratios 0.11 and 0.17,*** secondary components of both systems show evidence of considerable evolution with elevated densities as well as both luminosity and radii well above their main sequence *** in the absence of significant spot activity,at least one of the systems,TYC 6995-813-1,displays features of magnetic and chromospheric *** 6995-813-1 is also determined to be a potential merger candidate with its current separation near the theoretical instability separation.

Tourism impacts on society are complex and ***,they are vital to diverse societies,clusters,and individuals dependent upon their morals,attitudes,and resources existing for tourism *** tourism also brings many ***,tourist experience is fundamental for destination image and *** research examines tourist perceptions and attitudes toward tourism impacts in Chitkul,Kalpa,and Nako in *** sampling has been used to measure tourist responses on a range of indicators related to tourism *** scale responses were analyzed using factor analysis,ANOVA,Mann-Whitney U-test,Kolmogorov test,and descriptive *** results confirmed that tourists do not perceive any type of pollu-tion or societal *** observed that natural magnetism and the socio-cultural milieu of the destination is what attracts ***,tourists are not satisfied with‘networking services’,‘organization efforts’,‘sup-plementary conveniences’,and‘carriage concerns’at selected destinations in ***,Chitkul emerged as the top tourist destination in *** the destination would emerge as a hub of tourist activities shortly considering the congestion and exploitation of nearby tourist destinations at Kulu-Manali-Rohtang in Beas ***,the assessment of tourist perceptions can be used as an indicator of tourism destination competitiveness and can assist in developing appropriate tourism policies and infrastructure upgrades.

The next generation of electronics technology is purely going to be based on wearable sensing systems. Wearable electronic sensors that can operate in a continuous and sustainable manner without the need of an external power sources, are essential for portable and mobile electronic applications. In this review article, the recent progress and advantages of wearable self-powered smart chemical sensors systems for wearable electronics are presented. An overview of various modes of energy conversion and storage technologies for self-powered devices is provided. self-powered chemical sensors (sPCs) systems with integrated energy units are then discussed, separated as solar cell-based sPCs, triboelectric nano-generators based sPCs, piezoelectric nano-generators based sPCs, energy storage device based sPCs, and thermal energy-based sPCs. Finally, the outlook on future prospects of wearable chemical sensors in self-powered sensing systems is addressed.

Photometric Analysis of Three Potential Red Nova Progenitors

We present photometric analysis of three bright red nova progenitor contact binary systems:AsAs J082151-0612.6,TYC 7281-269-1 and TYC *** primary components in all three systems are solar-type low mass stars with radii somewhat larger than their zero age main sequence *** secondaries,as in most contact binary systems,have radii and luminosities well above their main sequence *** three have extremely low mass ratios ranging from 0.075 to 0.097 and two have high degrees of contact,in excess of 75%.All three have mass ratios and separations below the theoretical values for orbital *** activity,a hallmark of magnetic activity and magnetic braking,considered important in mediating angular momentum loss,is also *** three systems demonstrate the O’Connell effect,and all systems require the introduction of star spots for a better light curve *** addition,we show that AsAs J082151-0612.6 and TYC 7281-269-1 have a UV color excess in the range indicating high chromospheric *** measure of potential significant magnetic activity is X-ray luminosity;TYC 7275-1968-1 and probably also TYC 7281-269-1 have X-ray luminosity well above other contact binary *** conclude that it is likely that all three are unstable and hence are potential merger candidates.

The study reports photometric and spectroscopic observations of two recently recognized contact binary *** systems show total eclipses and analysis of the light curves indicates both have very low mass ratios of less than *** derive absolute parameters from color and distance based calibrations and show that,although both have low mass ratios,they are likely to be in a stable orbit and unlikely to *** other respects,both systems have characteristics similar to other contact binaries with the secondary larger and brighter than their main sequence counterparts and we also find that the secondary is considerably denser than the primary in both systems.

safety of gastric lavage using nasogastric ryle’s tube in pesticide poisoning

Objective: Gastric lavage is mandatory irrespective of nature in all patients with acute poisoning in India. Present study was undertaken with aim whether lavage done using nasogastric Ryle’s tube and small aliquots of water or normal saline is safe. Patients and Methods: All the patients above 12 years of age admitted consecutively with pesticide ingestion or exposure between July 2004 to June 2005 were studied with respect to complications associated with lavage using Ryle’s tube. Forty five patients were admitted directly to our hospital and lavage was undertaken using Ryle’s tube (16F ) with 100 - 200 mL of aliquots till 1 - 1.5 liters of fluid was lavaged, with prophylactic endotracheal intubation in patients with Glasgow coma scale ( GCs) s related to lavage in group I was compared to that in 53 patients admitted during same period with pesticide poisoning but lavaged outside using nasogastric Ryle’s tube and referred to our institute (group II). Results: The significant complications observed in group I were significant drop in saO2 (6 patients) laryngospasm, tachycardia, electrolyte imbalance and tube getting struck in throat (one each). In one patient in group I (had no prophylactic intubation though GCs 3) In group II, 7 had aspiration pneumonia (no prophylactic intubation). Other significant complication was drop in saO2 during lavage. None of them had any serious life threatening complication. Conclusion: Gastric lavage carried out using nasogastric Ryle’s tube and small aliquots of water or normal saline is relatively safe in patients with pesticide poisoning when combined with prophylactic endotracheal intubation in patients with GCs sence of prophylactic intubation, risk of aspiration is there. However aspiration pneumonia is generally mild and not life threatening.

sexually transmitted infections (sTIs) in gynae-outpatients: Experience from a tertiary health centre

Background: Prospective analysis of 500 cases of vaginal discharge in tertiary health centre of Punjab. Objective: To study the prevalence of sexually transmitted infections (sTIs) in 500 outpatient of 15 - 49 years age group with vaginal discharge and to evaluate the various factors influencing pattern of sTIs. Method: All cases were subjected to cervical cytology, HIV ELIsA, rapid plasma reagen (RPR) test for syphilis and Gram’s staining, Giemsa staining and wet mount study of vaginal discharge. Results: Prevalence of sTIs was found to be 58% and majority of infection was caused by G. vaginalis, Candida and Trichomonas. Pap smear showed koilocytosis in 5.6%, mild dysplasia in 1.8% and carcinoma cervix in 1.2% cases. Conclusion: Vaginal discharge is a common gynaecological complaint and sTIs are significant cause of vaginal discharge.
