Background: Trip.e drug therap. comp.ising angiotensin recep.or blocker (ARB), calcium channel blocker (CCB) and hydrochlorothiazide (HCT) effectively controls essential hyp.rtension as evident from the literature. This study was undertaken to assess the efficacy and safety of trip.e combination comp.red to the dual drug therap.. Methodologies: A total of 220 male and female p.tients with essential hyp.rtension were enrolled in the study. The p.tients were divided into two group.. Group.A received a bilayer tablet of FDC of Telmisartan + Amlodip.ne + HCT and group.B received FDC tablet of Telmisartan + HCT. Both the treatments were administered once daily for twelve weeks. The p.tients were asked to follow-up.on week 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 for p.riodic efficacy and safety evaluations. Effect on systolic blood p.essure (SBp., diastolic blood p.essure (DBp. and quality of life (QOL) were recorded during the course of the trial. Results: Blood p.essure reduction (Bp. to the desired goals was observed with both the treatments. The SBp.and DBp.reductions were sup.rior in trip.e combination therap. than double combination. Both treatments imp.oved QOL of p.tients. Conclusion: Trip.e drug combination of telmisartan, amlodip.ne and HCT may serve a p.tential role in achieving desired Bp.goals, in p.tients with essential hyp.rtension, which are otherwise p.orly managed by either monotherap. or dual drug therap..

A SURVEY OF STACKELBERG DIFFERENTIAL GAME MODELS IN SUp.LY AND MARKETING CHANNELS

Stackelberg differential game models have been used to study sequential decision making in noncoop.rative games in diverse fields. In this p.p.r, we survey recent ap.lications of Stackelberg differential game models to the sup.ly chain management and marketing channels literatures. A common feature of these ap.lications is the sp.cification of the game structure： a decentralized channel comp.sed of a manufacturer and indep.ndent retailers, and a sequential decision p.ocedure with demand and sup.ly dynamics and coordination issues. In sup.ly chain management, Stackelberg differential games have been used to investigate inventory issues, wholesale and retail p.icing strategies, and outsourcing in dynamic environments. The underlying demand typ.cally has growth dynamics or seasonal variation. In marketing, Stackelberg differential games have been used to model coop.rative advertising p.ograms, store brand and national brand advertising strategies, shelf sp.ce allocation, and p.icing and advertising decisions. The demand dynamics are usually extensions of the classical advertising cap.tal models or sales-advertising resp.nse models. We begin by exp.aining the Stackelberg differential game solution methodology and then p.ovide a descrip.ion of the models and results rep.rted in the literature.

This p.p.r considers a p.oblem of op.imal p.eventive maintenance and rep.acement schedule of equip.ent devoted to extracting resources from known dep.sits. Typ.cal examp.es are oil drills, mine shovels, etc. At most one rep.acement of the existing machinery by a new one is allowed. The p.oblem is formulated as an op.imal control p.oblem subject to the state constraint that the remaining dep.sit at any given time is nonnegative. We show that the op.imal p.eventive maintenance, p.oduction rates, and the rep.acement and salvage times of the existing machinery and the new one, if required, can be obtained by solving sequentially a series of free-end-p.int op.imal control p.oblems. Moreover, an algorithm based on this result is develop.d and used to solve two illustrative examp.es.

Nanotube p.otovoltaic configuration for enhancement of carrier generation and collection

We rep.rt on the growth of geometric feature tuned semiconductor nanotubes on a transp.rent substrate through the ap.lication of an anodic aluminum oxide membrane-assisted method. Three-dimensional nanotube solar cells are develop.d in which semiconductor absorbers are not only used to fill the inner core of the nanotubes, but also to rep.ace the membrane and to fill the intertube sp.ce between the nanotubes. The nanotube solar cells generate and sep.rate carriers in three dimensions, namely, inside the cores of the nanotubes, in the intertube sp.ce between the nanotubes along the radial direction, and above the nanotubes along the axial direction. In p.eliminary exp.riments conducted to demonstrate the p.tential of this ap.roach, nanotube CdS-CdTe solar cells were fabricated. CdS nanotubes with an inner diameter, wall thickness and intertube sp.cing of 35, 20, and 35 nm, resp.ctively, were grown; the p.rosity and CdS nanotube density were 36.5% and 2.26 × 10^10 nanotubes/cm^2, resp.ctively. These features of CdS nanotubes enable more efficient carrier collection because of the reduced recombination, esp.cially in those cases in which the minority carrier lifetime is short, thus resulting in a diffusion length of less than 100 nm. Nanotube CdS-CdTe solar cells exhibit a wide and strong sp.ctral resp.nse and quantum efficiency, indicating enhanced light absorp.ion and carrier generation and collection. Without the benefit of an antireflection coating, the cells exhibited a wide and strong sp.ctral resp.nse of quantum efficiency, and a short current density of 25.5 mA/cm^2, an op.n circuit voltage of 750 mV, and a p.wer conversion efficiency of 10.7% under 1-sun illumination. The materials and electro-op.ical characterizations indicated well-defined junction and interface behavior in these 3D nanotube solar cell configurations.

Magnetic sep.ration studies on ferruginous chromite fine to enhance Cr:Fe ratio

The Cr：Fe ratio （chromium-to-iron mass ratio） of chromite affects the p.oduction of chrome-based ferroalloys. Although the lit- erature contains numerous rep.rts related to the magnetic sep.ration of different minerals, limited work concerning the ap.lication of mag- netic sep.ration to fine chromite from the Sukinda region of India to enhance its Cr：Fe ratio has been rep.rted. In the p.esent investigation, magnetic sep.ration and mineralogical characterization studies of chromite fines were conducted to enhance the Cr：Fe ratio. Characterization studies included p.rticle size and chemical analyses, X-ray diffraction analysis, automated mineral analysis, sink-and-float studies, and mag- netic suscep.ibility measurements, whereas magnetic sep.ration was investigated using a rare earth drum magnetic sep.rator, a rare earth roll magnetic sep.rator, an induced roll magnetic sep.rator, and a wet high-intensity magnetic sep.rator. The fine chromite was observed to be up.raded to a Cr：Fe ratio of 2.2 with a yield of 55.7% through the use of an induced roll magnetic sep.rator and a feed material with a Cr：Fe ratio of 1.6.

Effect of desliming on the magnetic sep.ration of low-grade ferruginous manganese ore

In the p.esent investigation, magnetic sep.ration studies using an induced roll magnetic sep.rator were conducted to beneficiate low-grade ferruginous manganese ore. The feed ore was assayed to contain 22.4% Mn and 35.9% SiO2, with a manganese-to-iron mass ratio （Mn：Fe ratio） of 1.6. This ore was characterized in detail using different techniques, including quantitative evaluation of minerals by scan- ning electron microscop., which revealed that the ore is extremely siliceous in nature and that the associated gangue minerals are more or less evenly distributed in almost all of the size fractions in major p.op.rtion. Magnetic sep.ration studies were conducted on both the as-received ore fines and the classified fines to enrich their manganese content and Mn：Fe ratio. The results indicated that the efficiency of sep.ration for deslimed fines was better than that for the treated unclassified bulk samp.e. On the basis of these results, we p.op.sed a p.oc- ess flow sheet for the beneficiation of low-grade manganese ore fines using a Floatex density sep.rator as a p.e-concentrator followed by two-stage magnetic sep.ration. The overall recovery of manganese in the final p.oduct from the p.op.sed flow sheet is 44.7% with an assay value of 45.8% and the Mn：Fe ratio of 3.1.

AIM: To investigate the cellular defects by analyzing the (Th1/Th2) cytokine levels in vaccine resp.nders and non-resp.nders. METHODS: p.rip.eral blood mononuclear cell (p.MC) from resp.nders and non-resp.nders were stimulated with or with out recombinant HBsAg or p.A. Broad sp.ctrum of cytokines viz (Th1) IFN-γ, IL-2, TNF-α, IL-12 and (Th2) IL-10, IL-4 were measured after in vitro stimulation with recombinant HBsAg and were comp.red with resp.ctive antibody titers. RESULTS: A significant decrease (p.= 0.001) in Th1 and Th2 cytokines namely, IL-2, INF-γ, TNF-α and IL-10in non-resp.nders was observed. The level of IL-4 was not significant between the three group.. Furthermore, desp.te a strong Th1 and Th2 cytokine resp.nse, the level of IL-12 was elevated in high-resp.nders comp.red to other group. (p.= 0.001) and demonstrated a p.sitive correlation with anti-HBs titers and Th1 cytokine resp.nse. CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that unresp.n-siveness to recombinant hep.titis B vaccines (rHB) is multifactorial, including sp.cific failure of antigen p.esentation or the lack of both T help.r Th1 and Th2 resp.nse.
