In minimally invasive surgery, one of the main objectives is to ensure safety and target reaching accuracy during needle steering inside the target organ. In this research work, the needle steering approach is determined using a robust control algorithm namely the integral sliding mode control(ISMC) strategy to eliminate the chattering problem associated with the general clinical scenario. In general, the discontinuity component of feedback control input is not appropriate for the needle steering methodology due to the practical limitations of the driving actuators. Thus in ISMC, we have incorporated the replacement of the discontinuous component using a super twisting control(STC)input due to its unique features of chattering elimination and disturbance observation characteristics. In our study, the kinematic model of an asymmetric flexible bevel-tip needle in a soft-tissue phantom is used to evaluate stability analysis. A comparative study based on the analysis of chattering elimination is executed to determine the performance of the proposed control strategy in real-time needle steering with conventional sliding mode control using vision feedback through simulation and experimental results. This validates the efficacy of the proposed control strategy for clinical needle steering.

Chemically synthesised ZnO and Nd-doped ZnO nanoparticles were investigated for structural, optical, magnetic properties along with photocatalytic activity. Transmission electron microscopy measurement was performed on the undoped and doped ZnO nanoparticles. Compared to the undoped ZnO, Nd-doped ZnO nanoparticles showed enhanced photoluminescent and ferromagnetic properties. The Nd- doped ZnO nanoparticles also showed improved photocatalytic properties compared with the undoped ZnO nanoparticles. Furthermore, the effect of UV light irradiation was studied with thermoluminescence （TL） and photoluminescence （PL） measurement techniques. It was found that in case ofNd-doped ZnO nanoparticles TL intensity increased while the green emission in PL spectra decreased with UV-light irradiation. This was attributed to the production of more surface defects on UV irradiation on Nd-doping.

Silica host matrix containing neodymium which is potentially important for the formation of nanocrystalline metal oxides was prepared by solgel method, using tetra-ethoxysilane and Nd（NO3）3 as precursor *** prepared samples were changed from amorphous to nanocrystallites phase at sintered temperature 550 °C（4 h）, 750 °C（8 h） and 950 °C（12 h）.The thermally treated sample microstructures were investigated using X-ray diffraction（XRD）, Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy（FTIR）, and scanning electron mi-croscopy（SEM）.While a further increase of the temperature at 750 °C and annealing time（8 h） resulted in the formation of cubic and hexagonal Nd2O3 *** constant sintering temperature 950 °C for 12 h, the samples showed sharper and intense *** sizes of Nd2O3 nanocrystallites were characterized by XRD with average size ～46 nm.

In the hilly region due to scarcity of the plain area, buildings like set back-step back are more often used and also as a big surge in the telecommunication industries, rooftop tower adaptation is very common story nowadays. In the present study an analogy has been drawn to find out the influence of the rooftop telecommunication tower on the setback-step back building resting on ground at 20° and 30° slopes. A dynamic analysis has been performed and compared on the 4 legged angled section telecommunication tower which is located on the roof top of set back-step back building by varying positions of tower with the existing host structure built up on ground slope of 20° and 30° in both directions(X and Y).

This paper presents various approaches used by researchers for handling the uncertainties involved in renewable energy sources, load demands, etc. It gives an idea about stochastic programming (SP) and discusses the formulations given by different researchers for objective functions such as cost, loss, generation expansion, and voltage/V control with various conventional and advanced methods. Besides, it gives a brief idea about SP and its applications and discusses different variants of SP such as recourse model, chance constrained programming, sample average approximation, and risk aversion. Moreover, it includes the application of these variants in various power systems. Furthermore, it also includes the general mathematical form of expression for these variants and discusses the mathematical description of the problem and modeling of the system. This review of different optimization techniques will be helpful for smart grid development including renewable energy resources (RERs).

This paper proposes the day-ahead electricity price forecasting using the artificial neural networks （ANN） and weighted least square （WLS） technique in the restructured electricity markets. Price forecasting is very important for online trading, e-commerce and power system operation. Forecasting the hourly locational marginal prices （LMP） in the electricity markets is a very important basis for the decision making in order to maximize the profits/benefits. The novel approach pro- posed in this paper for forecasting the electricity prices uses WLS technique and compares the results with the results obtained by using ANNs. To perform this price forecasting, the market knowledge is utilized to optimize the selection of input data for the electricity price forecasting tool. In this paper, price forecasting for Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland （PJM） interconnec- tion is demonstrated using the ANNs and the proposed WLS technique. The data used for this price forecasting is obtained from the PJM website. The forecasting results obtained by both methods are compared, which shows the effectiveness of the proposed forecasting approach. From the simulation results, it can be observed that the accuracy of prediction has increased in both seasons using the proposed WLS technique. Another important advantage of the proposed WLS technique is that it is not an iterative method.

This paper proposes the generation scheduling approach for a microgrid comprised of conventional generators, wind energy generators, solar photovoltaie （PV） systems, battery storage, and electric vehicles. The electrical vehicles （EVs） play two different roles： as load demands during charging, and as storage units to supply energy to remaining load demands in the MG when they are plugged into the microgrid （MG）. Wind and solar PV powers are intermittent in nature; hence by including the battery storage and EVs, the MG becomes more stable. Here, the total cost objective is minimized considering the cost of conventional generators, wind generators, solar PV systems and EVs. The proposed optimal scheduling problem is solved using the hybrid differential evolution and harmony search （hybrid DE-HS） algorithm including the wind energy generators and solar PV system along with the battery storage and EVs. Moreover, it requires the least investment.

BACKGROUND： Thiamine is an essential cofactor associated with several enzymes in energy metabolism and its deficiency may lead to neurological deficits. Current research evaluated the biochemical and molecular changes in TCA cycle enzymes using the mitochondrial fraction of the brain following thiamine deficiency （TD） in mice. METHODS： The investigation was carried out on Swiss mice （6-8 week old） allocated into three groups. First group was control; second and third group were made thiamine deficient for 8 and 10 days. RESULTS： Current study showed that alpha-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase （KGDHC）（thiamine-dependent enzyme） level found to be significantly reduced in experimental groups as compared to control group. In comparison to control group, a significant decrease in the succinate dehydrogenase （SDH） activity was calculated in group II and group III （p 〈 0.0001） mice. Diminished enzymatic activity of fumarase and MDH enzyme in thiamine deficient groups exposed for 8 and 10 days was calculated as compared to control group. The expression analysis of different genes governing TCA cycle enzymes in different experimental groups showed that there was a negotiable change in the expression of fumarase and DLD （dihydrolipoyl dehydrogenase- E3 subunit of KGDHC） whereas a declined in the expression of SDH and two subunits of KGDHC i.e. OGDH （2-oxoglutarate dehydrogenase- E1 subunit of KGDHC） and DLST （dihydrolipoyllysine-residue succinyltransferase- E2 subunit of KGDHC） was observed as compared to control group. CONCLUSIONS： Hence, current findings strongly entail that TD promotes alteration in energy metabolism in brain mitochondria which will decline the neuronal progression which may lead to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer＇s diseases.
