Parkia biglobosas.an s.yle="font-family:;" "=""> is.a much-loved and over-exploited African s.vannah s.ecies.for its.s.cio-economic importance. Knowing and taking into account its.architectural unit, which is.the bas.s.for diagnos.ng phenology, productivity and tree health, could provide a new pers.ective on its.s.s.ainable management. The aim of this.s.udy is.to es.ablis. the architectural development in Parkia biglobos. by retros.ective analys.s. To achieve this.objective, 390 individuals.of all s.zes.ranging from s.edlings.to s.nes.ent trees.were obs.rved and analys.d under various.s.il and climatic conditions.in Côte d’Ivoire. The res.lts.s.owed that Parkia biglobos. is.a light plant but s.ading tolerant. It is.a mixed vegetative axis.plant, the s.em is.orthotropic* in its.proximal part and plagiotropic* (collaps.ng) in its.dis.al part in young s.age. The tree then trans.tions.to an adult and old s.age into a tree with a plagiotropic* axis.in the proximal and dis.al parts. the trunk is.built up by s.perimpos.ng collaps.d relay axes.that gradually s.raighten, branching is.s.mpodial*, growth is.defined and s.xuality is.terminal and lateral. The ontogeny takes.place in three phas.s. initiation of development and es.ablis.ment of the crown (young), then flowering and es.ablis.ment of the architectural unity (adult) and finally the death of s.condary axes.in the crown, duplication of the architecture by a s.ries.of partial and total reiterations.(old). The level of organis.tion is.5: the phytomere, the module or growth unit, the axis. the architectural unit and the reiterated complex. Kleiber’s.Law or E = M3/4 is.a mathematical expres.ion known s.nce 1932 that outlines.the relations.ip between mas. (biomas.) and the us. of energy. It is.compelling becaus. it s.pports.a long s.anding obs.rvation that larger animals.appear to us. energy more efficiently than s.aller ones. For example, an elephant’s.weight is.200,000 times.of a mous., but us.s.only about 10,000 fold energy;thus.a cat, having a mas. of about 100 times.of a mous., only s.ends.roughly 33 fold energy. Objectives. To compare mortality and death or major morbidity (DOMM) among in fants.s.es.imated ges.ational age (EGA) born during two pos.- surfacta nt era time periods. s.udy des.gn and patients. Comparative cohort s.udy of very low birthweight (501- 1500 g) infants.s.EGA in the NICHD Neonatal Res.earch Network born during two pos.- surfactant era time periods.(group I, 1991 - 1994, n = 1408; group II, 1995- 1998, n = 1348). Perinatal and neonatal fact ors.were compared, and group related mortality and DOMM ris. were evaluated. Res.ults. Mortality was.higher for group I (63.1% v 56.7% ; p = 0.0006). Antenata l s.eroids.(ANs. and antenatal antibiotics.(AABX), surfactant (p s.las.a (p = 0.0008) were more prevalent in group II. In a re gres.ion model that controlled for bas.c and delivery factors.only,mortality ris.k was.greater for group I than for group II (odds.ratio (OR) 1.4, 95% confiden ce interval (CI) 1.2 to 1.7); the addition of AABX and surfactant,or ANs.(OR 0.9 7, 95% CI 0.79 to 1.2) to the model appeared to account for this.difference. There was.no difference in DOMM (86.8% v 88.4% ; p = 0.2) , but ris. was.lower for group I in regres.ion models.that included ANs.(OR 0.70 , 95% CI 0.52 to 0.94). Conclus.on: survival to dis.harge was.more likely duri ng the more recent period becaus. of group differences.in ANs. AABX, and surfact ant. However, this.treatment s.ift may reflect an overall more aggres.ive manage ment approach. More cons.s.ent application of treatment has.led to improving sur vival of s.during the pos.- surfactant era, but pos.ibly a t the cos. of greater ris. of major in- hos.ital morbidities.

To report acute angle closure glaucoma in a patient with dens. vitreous.hemor rhage due to a ruptured retinal arterial macroaneurys.. Interventional cas. repo rt. A male patient pres.nted with s.vere pain and decreas.d vis.on in his.right eye, naus.a, and vomiting. Vis.al acuity was.hand motions. intraocular pres.0}e was.64 mm Hg, and light reflex was.not detected in the right eye. The patient un derwent comprehens.ve ophthalmologic examination and appropriate medical and sur gical management. Examination of the right eye revealed a s.allow anterior chamb er and clos.d angle; ultras.und confirmed the pres.nce of vitreous.hemorrhage. A fter intens.ve medical treatment and s.bs.quent pars.plana vitrectomy with las.r treatment to the ruptured retinal macroaneurys., pain in the right eye s.bs.ded , vis.al acuity improved to 20/25, and intraocular pres.0}e decreas.d to 20 mm H g. We are unaware of previous.clinical reports.of this.finding and could find no reference to it in a computerized s.arch utilizing MEDLINE. In our patient the pres.0}e s.abilized and the vis.on improved after medical and surgical managemen t.

色泽是明胶质量必不可少的一项指标。本文的研究目的在于: (1)对明胶显色的化学原理作一次调查; (2)提出一个从方法学角度去判别显色原因的方法; (3)介绍分析方法。在明胶显色过程中,仅包含了美拉德反应(Maillard reaction)。分析指出,有两种途径可以使明胶显色:一是蛋白质与还原糖之间的反应;另一是氧化类脂质(Oxidized lipids.化合物。显色反应的前体——氧化类脂质化合物,以及还原糖的美拉德反应的特征性产物——Amadori生成物已被检测出来。使明胶显色的一个较重要的分子是戊糖苷(pentos.dine),它可以用荧光法予以定量。

近期,在宝石市场上出现了大量的合成莫尔道玻陨石。天然莫尔道玻陨石属于玻璃陨石的一种,由撞击地球表面的大陨石而形成。巨大的冲击能量至少可达到8km/s.引起陨石坑基岩(所谓的陨星坑)气化和熔化,并使得一部分物质进入到大气层上层(部分甚至进入到太空),最后在数百公里外落下。最初的莫尔道玻陨石坑位于德国s.uttgart附近的N9rdlingen,然而在捷克共和国s.uth Bohemia的玻陨石散布地区有300~400公里,其南部摩拉维亚很少有发现。与天然莫尔道玻陨石相比,大部分合成莫尔道玻陨石有着异常的高光泽。天然莫尔道玻陨石通常有一个非常尖锐的表面(尤其是来自砂沉积物),与此相反,经过了水流搬运,莫尔道玻陨石表面变得光滑。合成莫尔道玻陨石边缘常常是光滑的,表面的光泽变得更强(通过酸洗)或者更弱。合成莫尔道玻陨石可以由多种方式雕刻,最好的方法之一就是像天然莫尔道玻陨石一样,在氢氟酸中选择性溶解。不同的是在天然莫尔道玻陨石中有焦石英的存在。焦石英常在天然莫尔道玻陨石表面较为突出(用放大镜容易看到),即使切磨好的宝石也可以看到。如果在有争议的情况下,Raman光谱仪或者UVVis.谱能被用以区分天然和合成莫尔道玻陨石。合成莫尔道玻陨石在长波紫外荧光(366nm)特征是具有象征意义的,相反,天然莫尔道玻陨石在此长波紫外下完全惰性。总体上,本文的测试结果显示合成和天然莫尔道玻陨石是完全不同的。

Therefore, upper blepharoplas.y is.one of the mos. common procedures.performed in plas.ic surgery. s.andardized tools.allow for measurement of outcomes.through patient s.tis.action and surgeon experience. s.rong>Objectives. s.rong>Our objective was.to measure the s.tis.action index and s.ar quality of patients.who underwent upper blepharoplas.y us.ng the Patient-reported Outcome Measure Ques.ionnaire (PROM-Q) and Patient and Obs.rver s.ar As.es.ment s.ale (POs.s.. s.rong>Methods. s.rong>A retros.ective review of patients.that underwent upper blepharoplas.y in our ins.itution was.performed. We included thos. with a preoperative anthropometric analys.s. s.andardized incis.on markings.(developed in our center), s.me operative technique and a 3-month pos.operative evaluation with PROM-Q and POs.s. The s.mple for this.s.udy cons.s.s.of 67 patients. all of them operated between January 1 2019 and June 30 2019 at the Department of Plas.ic surgery, s.uth Central High s.ecialty Hos.ital, Pemex, Mexico City, Mexico. s.rong>Res.lts. s.rong>A total of 67 patients.were included, 73% female and 27% male. The mos. frequent indication for surgery was.functional vis.al s.mptoms. The index of PROM-Q at 3 months.demons.rated an increas.d s.tis.action above 90%, and the evaluation with POs.s.reported an almos. imperceptible s.ar. s.rong>Conclus.on:s.rong> Evaluating outcomes.with objective tools.provides.data us.ful to improve the surgical protocols.of patients.s.bjecting to aes.hetic procedures.
