Multi-modality medical image fusion has more and more important applications in medical image analysis and understanding. In this paper, we develop and apply a multi-resolution method based on wavelet pyramid to fuse medical images from different modalities such as PET-MrI and CT-MrI. In particular, we evaluate the different fusion results when applying different selection rules and obtain optimum combination of fusion parameters.

Microalgae are considered a promising feedstock for the production of food ingredients, cosmetics, pharmaceutical products and *** energy intensity of drying and cell breaking of algae and solvent recovery afterwards hindered the route of algae biorefinery. In this work the influences of freeze drying and cell breaking to the extraction efficiency of crude lipid yield and fatty acid yield were investigated. results showed that drying and cell breaking are not necessary for N-ethyl butylamine extraction, because good yields were obtained without. Crude lipid yield and fatty acid yield using N-ethyl butylamine were comparable with Bligh & Dyer extraction, making N-ethyl butylamine a candidate for further development of an energy efficient lipid extraction technology for non-broken microalgae.

The interference of two circular cylinders has been researched for many years. In this study, the research work was concentrated on two cylinders in some special staggered arrangement. The velocity signal was measured with a hot wire anemometer and recorded with a TEAC portable data recorder. The relationship between spectrum and time was established by making 200 spectrum analysis in se- quence. The gap flow is unstable when two cylinders are arranged in L/D=2, T/D=1. Mainly, it can be looked as flow past a single blunt body and the Strouhal number is 0.15, The second peak arises in the power spectrum when the gap flow appears at irregular time interval. Sometimes it may be higher than the first one. The Strouhal num- ber corresponding to the second peak is 0.33. But at most of the time it is lower than the first one and even disap- peared. This is meaningful for exploring the mechanisms of interference induced oscillations in flow past two cylin- ders.

Gene expression refers to the process in which the gene information isused in the functional gene product synthesis. They basically encode the proteinswhich in turn dictate the functionality of the cell. The first step in gene expressionstudy involves the clustering usage. This is due to the reason that biological networks are very complex and the genes volume increases the comprehending challenges along with the data interpretation which itself inhibit vagueness, noise andimprecision. For a biological system to function, the essential cellular moleculesmust interact with its surrounding including rNA, DNA, metabolites and proteins. Clustering methods will help to expose the structures and the patterns inthe original data for taking further decisions. The traditional clustering techniquesinvolve hierarchical, model based, partitioning, density based, grid based and softclustering methods. Though many of these methods provide a reliable output inclustering, they fail to incorporate huge data of gene expressions. Also, thereare statistical issues along with choosing the right method and the choice of dissimilarity matrix when dealing with gene expression data. We propose to use amodified clustering algorithm using representatives (M-CUrE) in this workwhich is more robust to outliers as compared to K-means clustering and also ableto find clusters with size variances.

A Voronoi cell dement, formulated with creep, thermal and plastic strain was applied for investigation of thermo-mechanical fatigue behavior for particulate reinforced composites. Under the in-phase fatigue loading, the maximum of tensile deformation at the maximum given loading are larger than that at the same maximum under the out-phase fatigue. The stiffness decreases nonlinearly with the increasing of the phase angle, which results in increasing of the area of fatigue loop curve and the decrease in fatigue life. The spatially centralizing of inclusions results in decreasing of the plastic strain amplitude and the area of fatigue loop curve, which will also reduce the consumption of single-circle plastic strain energy and prolong the fatigue life.

In order to quantitatively estimate the volume and property transports between the South China Sea and Indonesian Seas via the Karimata Strait, two trawi-resistant bottom mounts, with ADCPs embedded, were deployed in the strait to measure the velocity profile as part of the South China Sea-Indonesian Seas trans- port/exchange （SITE） program. A pair of surface and bottom acoustic modems was employed to transfer the measured velocity without recovering the mooring. The advantage and problems of the instruments in this field work are reported and discussed. The field observations confirm the existence of the South Chi- na Sea branch of Indonesian throughflow via the Karimata Strait with a stronger southward flow in boreal winter and weaker southward bottom flow in boreal summer, beneath the upper layer northward （reversal） flow. The estimate of the averaged volume, heat and freshwater transports from December 2007 to March 2008 （winter） is （-2.7±1.1）×10^6 m^3/s, （-0.30±0.11） PW, 2008 （summer） is （1.2±0.6）×10^6 m^3/s, （0.14±0.03） PW, （-0.18±0.07） × 106 m3/s and from May to September （0.12±0.04）×10^6 m^3/s and for the entire record from December 2007 to October 2008 is （-0.5±1.9）×10^6 m^3/s, （-0.05±0.22） PW, （-0.01±0.15）×10^6 m^3/s （nega- tive/positive represents southward/northward transport）, respectively. The existence of southward bottom flow in boreal summer implies that the downward sea surface slope from north to south as found by Fang et al. （2010） for winter is a year-round phenomenon.
